From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…

.

I, along with millions of other readers I’m sure, squealed with delight when this showed up. The Crossfire series had quickly become my book drug of choice since I gobbled up book one and two last year. Sylvia Day feeds all my book cravings and serves up a angsty, erotic tale reminiscent of the much loved soap operas of my childhood.

At the end of book two, Reflected In You, readers were left with the stark realization of just how far Gideon would go to protect Eva. After the reveal Eva is left a jumble of conflicting emotions and warring with herself over returning to Gideon or not. Of course Eva and Gideon’s problems don’t end there and it soon becomes apparent that yet another opponent would like nothing more then to keep them apart. This time it’s a nosey reporter who is hell bent on exacting some revenge from Gideon after being dismissed from his bed after one night years ago.

Entwined With You is a continuation of the evolving relationship between Eve and Gideon though it lacks any monumental revelations or threats. I enjoyed the easy flow of the book and it certainly satisfied expectations but I wish the threats would have been played up a bit more. After such a whirlwind second book this one seemed to return more to the feel of the first book, instead focusing on the erotic nature of these two and the building of the future they want together. The threat of a sex tape featuring Eva and her ex, as well as the jilted reporter could have made bigger impacts in the story line but as always, Gideon handles everything with ease. The only thing that seemed to really set him off was the fact that Eva and himself have to keep their relationship secret until the story line from book two winds down and it seemed to frustrate him to no end. Especially considering Eva’s rockstar ex wants her back and is debuting the song he wrote for her.

As far as character growth I have to commend Day for her outstanding ability in that area. Both Eva and Gideon have made great strides both on their own and together. Each is committed to becoming stronger together and separately and it’s wrote with a realistic feel that some authors lack.  I like how Gideon’s issues are not glossed over or even healed after three books. His night terrors are slowly getting better with Eva’s help (and therapy) but something ingrained that deeply may never go away completely. Eva has become more mature over the course of the book and is now second guessing herself much less. Her faith in Gideon has grown and she is becoming more secure in their relationship…trusting him more. Her professional self has gone from being a nervous entry level associate to being self assured and confident in her abilities.

This isn’t the end for Gideon and Eva either. The book is left open ended and though there is nothing concrete listed on Day’s website is does say that more will follow….at some point. However the ending of this one is done without a major cliff hanger so I find I am content to wait….but eager for more. This book felt more like a lead up to whatever it is that Day has up her sleeve.

Sylvia Day is an incredibly talented author who has woven a tale that is both erotically sexy and lush with drama. This series is definitely now, and always will be, one of my favorites!

I give Entwined With You by Sylvia Day 4.25 stars!
