Nathaniel West doesn’t lose control.
As the playboy CEO of West Industries, he governs the boardroom during the day; as a strict dominant with exacting rules, he commands the bedroom at night. He never takes on inexperienced submissives, but when Abigail King’s application comes across his desk, he breaks his own restrictions and decides to test her limits.
Abby’s combination of innocence and willingness is intoxicating, and Nathaniel is soon determined to collar her as his own. As long as she follows his orders and surrenders herself fully to him, no one will get hurt.
But when Nathaniel begins falling for Abby on a deeper level, he realizes that the trust must go both ways—and he has secrets which could bring the foundations of their entire relationship crashing down…
The Dominant is book two in Tara Sue Me’s Submissive Trilogy…and it’s the EXACT same story from book one, except told in Nathaniel’s point of view. This is an odd way to do a trilogy and one I haven’t encountered before. I kept expecting the book to fast forward and move forward. I did not get that. From their first meeting to their disastrous parting and recoupling this is the exact same story.
In book one I found myself kinda hating Nathaniel because he was so quiet and he treated Abby so badly a few times. It was nice to read his point of view and know how unraveled he was where she was concerned and how much he actually did care though he doesn’t really tell her until the end. For such an experienced Dom Nathaniel trips up several times and needs to call his own trainer for advice regarding Abby and his growing emotions for her.
I really don’t have anything else to say about this one. It was an odd path to take and while I appreciated Nathaniel’s POV I soon became bored because it wasn’t anything new or a progression in the story line at all. Book 3, The Training, goes back to Abby’s POV and if the excerpt is any indicator, will continue where both The Submissive and The Dominant left off. Nathaniel and Abby will have to learn to separate their sub/Dom play and the normal ups and downs of a regular relationship. I think Nathaniel especially will have a hard time with this and I anticipate him screwing it up at least once or twice. I can only hope that he is more vocal this time around and doesn’t push Abby away because of his own insecurities.
I give The Dominant by Tara Sue Me 3 stars!
