Alice Shepard needs one thing: a date for her sister’s wedding. And not just any date. A hunk who will make her fiancé rue the day he left her for her best friend. Her drop-dead gorgeous neighbor fits the bill—even if he is a bit quirky and never comes out during the day—and Alice has downed just enough appletinis to ask him. But she makes it quite clear that there will be no funny business.
Spending a week on a cruise ship full of humans while sleeping close to his sexy next-door neighbor sounds like a helluva bad idea to vampire Noah Thorpe. But his friends need time to get him out of a shotgun wedding—a vampire bonding that will tie his fate to a female vampire he’s never met. And Alice’s offer comes at just the right time.
What could possibly go wrong?
New to me author Tiffany Allee has started a new series that feels reminiscent of a Molly Harper novel to me. Paranormal romance that is more laid back with a contemporary feel. No dark world building. No life or death situations for the characters. More humor. This is exactly what a paranormal romance lover needs in between those dark suspenseful books. Something to let your brain decompress with.
Alice Shepard has had a slight crush on her elusive neighbor for quite some time. Needing a date to her sisters wedding cruise in order to not look like a loser to her ex boyfriend and ex best friend she decides to ask him in a last ditch effort. Surprisingly he begrudgingly agrees though it is apparent he really doesn’t want to and she’s not sure he even likes her at all.
Noah needs to get out of town to avoid a mandatory mating being bestowed upon him by the governing council of vampires. A week of fun in the sun is not his idea of a good time, even if the sun won’t kill him. Being couped up in a single cruise ship room with his gorgeous neighbor isn’t a hardship…or it wouldn’t be if he could act on his impulses. Sadly he can’t bite her, at least not yet because the longer they have to pretend to be dating, the easier it’s getting to be real and stop acting.
I liked this one! It’s a cute story laced with humor and I found myself rooting for these two regardless of their differences. They worked well off each other and while not amazingly sexy its heat level was enough to keep me interested. Noah had the hardest time of the two of them because he assumed finding out he was a vampire would send Alice screaming for the hills and also letting their secret out was against every rule the council had. Unbeknownst to him Alice has had a run in with vampires before and knows exactly what it entails….and she’s not afraid. In fact it turns her on and dancing around the issue with him amuses her.
My gripe was that I thought Alice’s ex could have been a bit more of a threat. Noah goes as far as to call him dangerous and yet he never really threatens Alice. Sure, he’s a douche, but I never understood the point in calling him dangerous if he wasn’t going to be. I also didn’t like the fast POV changes this one had. I much prefer POV changes at the beginning of each chapter so I can acclimate accordingly. As much as I enjoyed it there are also parts of it that I felt dragged and I wished for a bit more action…both in the sex department and in the ex department. The sexual tension was only average which made the lead up that much harder to take.
Tiffany Allee has a laid back writing style that kept me coming back for more and invested in the characters she had created. I will definitely be back for more from her!
I give Don’t Bite The Bridesmaid by Tiffany Allee 3.50 stars!
