Laura Hunsaker Guest Post & GIVEAWAY

Laura HunsakerFor those of you who know me, you guys know I’m pregnant and due soon. For those of you who are just hearing from me for the first time, Hi! I’m Laura Hunsaker and I write Scottish Time Travel/ PNR. Oh, and I’m pregnant 😉

I’m also supposed to be on bedrest. So this past week I’ve spent a lot of time at home, and would you believe that The Highlander TV show is on Netflix? Well, my 14 year old heart went pitter pat when I saw that, because I can tell you that Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod was one of my first crushes.

Re-watching the series has been fun, and even the 90s cheesiness doesn’t detract from how sexy Duncan MacLeod is.

So I wanted to talk to you guys about Highlanders. Love ‘em? Leave ‘em? What do you guys think? What’s the draw to the Scottish hero?

For me it’s not just the accent or the kilt, but I love the fact that this big bad warrior who has to fight so mercilessly in his day-to-day life can also be a tender lover with his woman. He can be an alpha male without being the dreaded alphahole. His people are fighting for their lands, some for the right to use their own names, and even at one point the right to wear their plaids. To me, that’s just the ultimate underdog. And who doesn’t love to see the underdog triumph?

So, what do you think? Leave a comment and one lucky commenter will have an e- copy of my latest novella Highland Games.

**Giveaway open until 7-15-13 @ 11:59pm EST with winner announced shortly after**

Malcolm “Colm” MacRobert is ordered by his chief to travel through time and return with a woman. Not just any woman, the daughter of Laird and Lady Grant. There’s one problem, though. Everyone knows the Grants never had a daughter. Who is he bringing back? And why is she so important that his laird using the village witch to send Colm over 200 years into the future?

When Piper Grant agreed to take her friend’s place on a trip to Scotland, she didn’t know it was a singles tour. Desperately trying to avoid her fellow tourists, she wanders around the Highland Games being held at Blair Castle, however she can’t shake the feeling that someone’s watching her.

After one glance, Colm knows Piper is meant for him. The hard part is convincing her that he’s not crazy, and that he really needs her. Colm takes Piper with him back to 1793 Scotland hoping that she’ll eventually forgive him. With a witch aligning their fates as if pieces on a chessboard, Colm and Piper have more than their own relationship to worry about.

Can Colm win Piper’s heart, save his clan, and come out unscathed?

  1. I love highlanders. I love their strength, pride and the love they show their women. The kilt and accent only adds to the package. Laura I also loved Duncan MacLeod *sighs* he was so hot.

  2. Congratulations on your upcoming mommy status that’s excellent news.

The reason I love highlanders is the manliness to them. I love the rugged overprotective burlyness and how they treat their women. Okay and the whole accent and kilt really doesn’t hurt!

The added humour of the time travel is a bonus. Congratulations on a great series. Look forward to more.

  3. Don’t enter me because I can’t read e-books but I wanted to say a great big Congratulations on your upcoming little bundle. 🙂
I love Highlanders. The kilt, the brogue but it’s their loyalty, bravery and love of clan that does it for me. They wee true warriors always having to fight and defend. Thanks for the post.
