The wrong guy might be just right for her. When her celebrity boyfriend of three years dumps her and claims he’s now gay, unlucky-in-love author Casey Cash decides to get out of New York. A cruise seems like the perfect escape: everyone onboard will be locked away from television, newspapers and internet gossip pages, allowing her some much needed relaxation. There’s only one problem: her oh-so-helpful agent has hired a male escort for her…and a big NYC paper has sent a pesky reporter on-board, vowing to get the dirt.
Mason Drury doesn’t want to write an expose on Casey, but he’s in a bind. After a source flipped on him, he’s persona non grata at his newspaper. Celebrity trash or not, this story will put him back on top. Too bad he finds himself breaking the first rule of reporting by getting attached to his subject and letting bias influence his story. Casey’s much more interested in sexy Mason than the annoying escort who’s bunking in her room. Mason might even have romantic potential if she can shake her well-meaning-but nosey-fans. Oh, and that reporter. She’s got to avoid him at all costs… CONTENT WARNING: A smattering of sass, sex and a heaping happily ever after.
Mr. Right Now is a light romance with funny moments and hot sex scenes.
Cassandra (Casey) Cash is a famous romance novelist who is ready for a change, she wants to write something a bit different. It is unfortunate that her private life is headline news making things difficult; her recent celebrity boyfriend just dumped her for another man.
Nate the famous radio shock jock and reality star is making celebrity news with his pursuits; she just does not understand why he is ruining her reputation to further his. And Jane, her agent is trying to help by booking her on a cruise for several days, something she is not sure she wants to do but will try anything to forget.
As soon as she walks on the ship things get interesting, she meets Mason Drury and he is very interested in her so they agree to meet for drinks later, then when she goes to her room, she finds another man lying on the bed with a bloody nose. What a mess, her agent tells her two things, she has hired an escort to help her have fun and there is a reporter on board. Casey does not know what to think; only that this is not starting out fun.
Mason is in a bind, his editor wants a tell-all story about Casey and Nate, but he is not that type of reporter and is only here because he messed up on his last assignment and is about to be fired. He is intrigued by Casey and is afraid if he tells her he is a reporter she will walk away, instead they share some steamy scenes together and he keeps quiet.
Things get bumpy when the entire cruise population thinks her roommate Tyler and her are newlyweds, Tyler keeps having nose bleeds because of stress and when she finally finds out who Mason is, she is pissed. She is definitely not having a good time.
This is a cute contemporary romance that is fun and sexy. Casey is trying to do something different in her career yet her personal life is becoming public and she hates that. You can feel the frustration; all she wants to do is write a book and live her life, but others such as her agent seem to manipulate things, causing problems. They may have good intentions but it backfires and makes Casey’s life more chaotic. I like Casey, she is funny and there are some humorous moments as she moves from one disaster to another. However I did have several problems with the story, one is that Mason and Casey meet and several hours later they are having sex in a draped canopy on the deck of a cruise ship…really? I might understand if there was that spark of chemistry between them, but I did not feel it in the short time they were together that day. I had a hard time liking Mason at first, which is probably why I did not feel they meshed well, although he did grow on me and eventually I did feel there was a spark. I also did not like Tyler, but since he was a secondary character and just an annoyance to Casey, I thought he played his part well.
The plot progression is done well and the story is likeable with some drama and angst mixed in along the way. Casey did not know who the reporter was and she was angry when she found out which made for some interesting scenes with Mason. For the most part the mood is light and the romance is steamy as Mason and Casey have several hot scenes in various places around the ship,
I did not realize you could have that many private moments in public places on a cruise ship. All in all a fun, light romance with some bumps along the way.
I give Mr. Right Now by Kristina Knight 3 stars!
