Nicola is an injured CIA agent on the run from a failed undercover operation. Her escape plan shatters when she slams into the man who buried her a decade ago. Cash Garrison. Her first and only love. Now, sexier than her best memory and cradling a sniper’s rifle, he has questions she can’t answer. Why was she alive? And armed?

Cash is an elite member of a black ops organization, The Titan Group. He thought Nicola died his senior year of college and swore off love to focus on a decade of military missions. But when she shows up behind enemy lines, bleeding out and wielding a weapon, his heart and mind are unsure how to proceed.

Titan and the CIA join forces to uncover a mole hidden in a network of international terrorists and homegrown mobsters, teaming Cash and Nicola again. They fight old wounds and re-ignite sparks while closing in on a double agent. When disaster strikes, Nicola’s hidden past makes her the hunted target and Cash’s best kill shot may not be enough to save them.

I am so glad I stuck around and decided to read book two of this series. It’s like the author knew what I was thinking and what were my pet peeves and completely changed them after book one. I really enjoyed this book and could really see the difference in the writing as Harber grows into her voice.

Cash has a reputation for being a love em and leave em type except for when he was with one particular woman many years ago. When she died it nearly broke him but he’s carried on and made his sniper rifle his other half instead of the woman he so desperately wanted.

Nicola had to put her past behind her in order to protect those she loves. When she inadvertently crosses paths with the one man from her past that she misses the most, Cash, she tries her best to keep what she needs and what she wants separate.

Now that he knows Nicola didn’t die Cash finds himself at odds with his feelings. I found his reaction to the truth about Nicola’s whereabouts for all these years, heartfelt and real. He processed the information like I would suspect anyone would. He was torn between total anger, relief and wanting nothing more than to consume her with the passion he still feels. The tension between them was palpable and overtly sexual. I loved their interactions!

I love a heroine who can take care of herself too and Harber gave me what I crave in Nicola. She’s been trained by some of the best and so she’s fully capable of kicking ass without the help of any man. While on the job she’s 100% on board but in private she finds herself reflective of her past and wanting to run to Cash even when she is annoyed by his overprotectiveness.  She was thoughtful, loving and surprising laid back off the job.

I will most definitely come back and pick up book three focusing on Titan’s leader, Westin, and the hilarious woman Sugar, who is way more than she seems. Garrison’s Creed is an excellent book filled with action, hilarious conversations and smexy moments that will take your breath away!

I give Garrison’s Creed by Cristin Harber 4 stars!
