What is your favorite Christmas vacation?

Katherine GarberaMy favorite Christmas vacation is to go home. I live in the UK and my family is in Florida so if I’m traveling at the holidays it’s back to Florida. Central Florida isn’t the place for a white Christmas but it does have family and my oldest friends. It also has my parents and the same old house I grew up in. A Christmas decorated with ornaments my sisters and I made in Brownies (we always move our own to the back and the other sisters to the front since we all look really goofy in them) and the ornaments my kids and my nieces and nephews made when they were little. The house is always chock the rim with people since my all try to come home the same year. And we bake cookies together laughing and talking and sneaking bites of frosting or finished cookies.

One year when we were living in Chicago we hired a limo to take us to the airport and my kids were so excited as it was their first time riding in one. My daughter and son both played with every button in the back of the car and kept putting the window between the driver down and asking him questions.

He was such a good sport about it and they had a very good start to their Christmas holiday. It was a small thing but it was just the right touch to put them in the holiday mood especially before we got to the crowded airport and had to deal with masses of people.
