The Bermuda Triangle. Pirates. The Peanut. What could possibly go wrong?
Dragos Cuelebre needs a vacation. So does Pia, his mate. When the First Family of the Wyr head to Bermuda for some much needed R&R, it’s no ordinary undertaking – and no ordinary weekend in the sun. Between hunting for ancient treasure buried beneath the waves and keeping track of their son, Liam—a.k.a. Peanut, whose Wyr abilities are manifesting far ahead of schedule—it’s a miracle that Pia and Dragos can get any time together.
They’re determined to make the most of each moment, no matter who tries to get in their way.
I love this series, don’t get me wrong, but I find Harrison’s attempts at novellas to be hit or miss. As much as I love Dragos and enjoyed him in parts of this novella I found it overall to be lacking in a story line that kept me interested. Sure, he’s still hot as hell and I love seeing his tender side when dealing with his son but the build up to a threat was missing and the “bad guys” weren’t all that bad. I think I just wanted more from a story that Harrison didn’t have time to give me because of the length. She does a good job in the foreshadowing but the execution of a climax felt rushed.
Liam is such an enigma to everyone in their community, including themselves. Dragos takes everything in stride but of course Pia is a typical first time mother who isn’t sure what to expect and tends to freak out easily. Especially since Liam is progressing at a rate unheard of among the Wyr. Add in the fact that the tiny dragon is attempting to fly already and many near heart attacks ensue. It will be interesting to see how far he will progress as the series continues on.
The sensuality between Dragos and Pia is spot on as always, I just wish there would have been more of it. I always enjoy looking into their life but I felt this one lacked a substantial story line I could get behind. Dragos, even relaxed, is a formidable person and it was nice to see him out of his element a little and enjoying time alone with Pia on vacation. Sex against a tree is always good too. 😉
Unfortunately this one fell a bit short for me but the Elder Series will always be one of my favorites!
