The Manor, the very place where their passionate love affair began, fills with guests on what should be the happiest day of Ava and Jesse’s lives. She has accepted that she’ll never tame the fierceness in Jesse-and she doesn’t want to. Their love is profound, their connection powerful, but just when she thinks that she’s finally gotten beneath his guarded exterior, more questions arise, leading Ava to believe that Jesse Ward may not be the man she thinks he is. He knows too well how to take her to a place beyond ecstasy . . . but will he also drive her to the brink of despair? It’s time for this man to confess.

Book one confounded me, book two hooked me and now book three has finished me off. I started off this series with mixed feelings but by the time I started book three I knew I was a goner. Jodi Ellen Malpas is an author I will be watching closely from now on.

Jesse is a hero who had to grow on me. I spent a good chunk of time wondering why Ava didn’t kick him to the curb. His dominating nature was both sexy and completely over the top. Somewhere along the way I found myself liking him and wondering about his past. Obviously there had to be a reason he was so damaged. I hoped anyway. This Man Confessed finally provided answers to all my questions and to top it off I didn’t even see anything coming. Malpas took me totally by surprise with the curve balls this book took.

Ava and Jesse walk down the aisle fairly early on and as soon as the wedding is over things start to unravel around them. Shadowy threats, shifty business associates and closely guarded secrets threaten to burst the newlyweds bubble. The depth of Jesse’s deceit had even me shaking my head.

I was a bit let down with respect to the building tension between Ava and one of her male clients. I felt like it was cut kinda short in favor of eluding to someone else who might be behind the trouble Ava had been experiencing. It was as if Malpas decided to go a different route and she wasn’t sure how to go about it. So Ava’s problem client was quickly wrapped up with not much fan fair. It just felt a bit off after two books that seemed to be leading up to something big in regard to him.

The secondary characters played big pieces in the puzzle that is Jesse and as Ava attempts to learn all his secrets she finds out about everyone elses too. Each person brought something a little extra to the book and Malpas does a great job tying everything in.

What I found most interesting was the depth of the emotion Malpas conveyed with these two characters. They are co-dependent to a fault but I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved how Ava handled him and how much he had changed since the first book. He’ll always be demanding and domineering but Ava had learned how to maneuver him and hold the power in their relationship. She owned him just as much as he owned her.

Being an erotic romance there is a TON of sex. Seriously, these two bang more than rabbits in heat. Anywhere and everywhere Jesse wants Ava with a passion that never burns out. The sex scenes are scorching hot and well placed throughout the novel. By well placed I mean like once every chapter lol. I mean it…tons of sex.

I will definitely be looking for more from Malpas in the future. Her exquisite rendering of angsty, erotic love left me breathless!

I give This Man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas 4.25 stars!
