Lynn Raye Harris Guest Post & GIVEAWAY

Lynn Raye HarrisI often get asked where I got the inspiration for the Hostile Operations Team. I’m known for my Harlequin Presents stories, which are glamorous, passionate, sweeping stories often set in foreign locations with princes, sheikhs, and billionaires. They’re fun stories to write and I have no intention of stopping!

But the HOT series is also fun, and the truth is that I actually had the idea for that series first. Back in 2005, I was living in Hawaii and working on my first full-length contemporary romance. I’d written a couple of historicals (that shall remain in the drawer) and wanted to turn my attention to the contemporary world.

I wrote a book with a Navy character. He wasn’t in the Special Forces, and the book really had little to do with the military. It was a quiet contemporary with a seaman returning from war and a runaway heroine who was trying to escape some emotional turmoil in her life.

That book was a practice book, obviously. But then I started thinking about writing a military series. After all, I lived that life with an active-duty husband and I knew the lingo and lifestyle.

At first, however, Matt Girard was an Air Force fighter pilot. But then as I started to write, I knew he wasn’t a pilot at all. Rather, he was a badass Special Operator. I didn’t want him to be a SEAL, because there are tons of books about SEALS while the other military branches also have some badass warriors that do all the things SEALS do. I settled on the Army and Delta Force, though I then decided to make my HOT guys their own special unit that can do whatever I want them to do. 😉

So my HOT guys came to life. First Matt, the captain of the team I’m writing about. The other guys showed up during the course of the story. HOT PURSUIT is different in that it’s a military romance, but most of it takes place in Matt’s hometown while he helps his childhood best friend find a killer and save her sister. The HOT guys help him from their station in Fort Bragg.

By the end, you’ve met several of the team members – and their enigmatic commander Colonel Mendez. After Matt, I wrote a novella called HOT MESS about a new team member, Sam McKnight. And then Billy “The Kid” Blake got his own story in my holiday novella, HOT PACKAGE. Next up is Kevin “Big Mac” MacDonald in DANGEROUSLY HOT, which is a full-length book coming soon. After that, Jack “Hawk” Hunter will get his turn.

I’ll keep writing them as long as there’s demand for them. Thanks to all my readers for embracing this series and asking me for more books. It’s such a thrill to be able to write them and to know that you are enjoying the guys!

Hot Pursuit –

The last man she ever wanted to see…
Might be the only one who can save her…
Things are about to get HOT in the bayou!

Evie Baker’s luck just ran out. Thanks to an ex-partner with organized crime ties, she’s lost her restaurant, her money, and nearly all her self-respect. Forced to return to her hometown and work as a shampoo girl in her mother’s salon, she doesn’t think her luck can get any worse.

But then someone starts shooting at her, her sullen baby sister is suddenly missing, and the high school heartthrob who stole her heart—and her virginity—is the only man big enough and bad enough to help.

Captain Matt “Richie Rich” Girard can’t afford to get involved. He’s already on the verge of a court-martial after a Top Secret op gone wrong, and he’s been ordered to stay out of trouble while he’s home for his sister’s wedding.

But when Evie’s ex-partner turns up dead, staying out of trouble is the last thing on Matt’s mind. He failed Evie once before; he can’t fail her again. If he’s going to protect her from a killer, and find her sister before time runs out, he’ll have to risk his entire future—and both their lives—to do it.

Hot Mess-

English professor Dr. Georgeanne Hayes has a problem. Her star pupil, an Army sergeant who works in a Top Secret government program, is missing—and someone tried to push her in front of a train last night.

Sam “Knight Rider” McKnight is used to looking out for Georgie. When they were kids, she was just his best friend’s baby sister. But Georgie’s not a baby anymore and Sam is getting some very male—and very dirty—thoughts about the girl he knows he can never have.

When someone threatens Georgie’s life again, Sam will do anything necessary to keep her safe. Even if it means spending the next few days locked up in a remote house on Maryland’s Eastern Shore with her.

Sam might be used to denying himself what he wants, but he’s about to find out that being cooped up with Georgie will push him to the limit. And maybe beyond.

“What is your favorite aspect of military/black ops team romances?”

  1. I think the reason I like military and special ops romances are because the hero’s are usually alpha males that are protective, possessive caring men and oh so sexy.

  2. I love rough and tough men who can be the hero in both physical and emotional ways. Plus when they take over in the romance department reduces the woman into a fiery passionate mess.

  3. I love military romances because the men are usually used to people who respond without questions and the heroines usually challenge them to understand why they are doing what they are doing.

  4. I love military romances because the military character is usually strong and protective but they also have a need(s) themselves. It’s always interesting to see how they overcome obstacles and resolve issues to find true love.

  5. Hi Lynn
To answer your question, I love the military/black ops for their fierceness and loyalty. I so enjoy your books and thank you for them.
Please do not include me in raffle as I have both books. Give to someone who doesn’t and will get to enjoy too.
