Ever since her mother died while serving time for a murder she didn’t commit, Bell’s been focused on one thing: revenge. She knows her mother was set up by the powerful Gable family, international bankers who will crush anyone for profit, or amusement. Now she’s determined to take the Gables down.

Seducing her way into the life–and bed–of the family’s rebellious youngest son, Lander, she figures it should be easy to uncover the secrets she needs to destroy his family. But Lander turns out to be more complicated than Bell expected. He’s intelligent, mysterious–and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. Lander is still the target, but once Bell gives in to her desire to touch him, he starts seeming much less like an enemy–which is why her anger is more necessary than ever.

Bellona is out for revenge. She’ll avenge her mother’s death and the people she feels are responsible for putting her in jail if it’s the last thing she does. In order to do that she’s planned for years and now her scheming has finally brought her to Lander Gable. The youngest son of the man who she feels held the biggest hand in the shit life her mother was dealt. Now she’s got Lander right where she wants him but instead of finding a cold-hearted man she finds something entirely different. She finds a man who doesn’t seem to fit in with his horrible brother and father and who makes her feel almost guilty for wanting to take him down along with the rest of his family. Intent to follow her plan through she seduces her way into his bed but can she betray the man who is slowly melting her resolve?

What an interesting start to this new three part series! Davis has a voice that captured me within the first few pages and left me aggravated and eager by the end! I’ll be honest….I am not sure what to think of Bell. She’s hell bent on her revenge and without it I’m not sure if she has anything left. She goes as far as to say that if she finishes her plan she doesn’t care what happens to her afterward. That screams depression and anger to me. Without the anger she’s nothing. It’s literally all she knows. She’s not a very likable character because of this bloodthirsty need even if I do understand it to an extent. I get why she’s angry but I wonder if she has any idea what exactly happened the night her mother walked into her married lovers house to find him dead. There are so many questions at this point and not enough answers.

Lander is a study in contradictions. Though his family is extremely wealthy he spends time in dive bars. When normal men would flaunt who they are and how much they make, he doesn’t. Bell is clearly beneath his station (according to the way he was raised apparently) and yet he’s intrigued be her. He treats her as an equal even when it’s clear she doesn’t really value herself. He’s determined to find the enigma out that is Bell and he doesn’t seem fazed but her secrets. At the first notion that Lander loved a good puzzle Bell should have ran. He clearly isn’t a man who can be fooled for long. Yet she sleeps with him, drugs him, infiltrates his family all while trying to convince herself that he is the enemy.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the next installment even though I have a feeling that once I’m finished with it I’m going to want part three right that second and I’ll be out of luck. Kyra Davis is an inventive story teller whose erotically wrote sex scenes are sure to set you on fire!

I give Deceptive Innocence by Kyra Davis (Part One) 4.25 stars!
