DEA agent Eve Taylor has had her fill of alpha males. When Resolutions’ operative and former lover, Dillon “Mac” McKenna, threatened her hard-earned independence, she ran. On a mission to gather evidence against a Colombian drug-lord, Eve discovers the drug-lord is helping terrorists plan an attack on American soil. Before she can escape with the vital information, she’s captured and comes face to face with her mortality…
As a teen, Mac watched his family fall apart after his mother died doing dangerous U.N. work. The possibility of losing Eve to a mission ignited an overwhelming need to protect her. When he forced her to choose him or her job, she walked away. Two years later, it seems all his nightmares have come true and he’s tasked with rescuing her from a Colombian prison. Mac has never stopped loving Eve, but does he dare risk his heart when he’s so terrified of losing…
On the run, Mac and Eve must learn to trust each other again in order to stay alive.
Resolutions is the first in the Honor Guard series and it is non-stop action from beginning to end as we follow the hero and heroine from one dangerous situation to another. I enjoyed these alpha characters, both male and female as they fight their way to freedom and vanquish the Colombian drug lord.
In the beautiful wilds of San Carlos Lucas, Colombia we find DEA agents from IDEA dealing with a mission that has gone wrong. Eve Taylor and her team are trying to get to the helicopter with their precious flash drive which is holding information that could destroy Mendoza and his cartel. But they are overrun and with two members down, Mendoza’s men surround Eve and capture her.
A week later, she is half dead from torture and beatings while being held by Mendoza, they try to get information from her and Eve is hoping that she can hold on until someone comes or she can escape. In the meantime IDEA has hired Dillon McKenna (Mac), a Resolutions operative to help get her out, hopefully without an “I told you so” as Eve and Mac have history together and it did not end well.
As Mac and Eve run from one dangerous situation to another they realize what they mean to each other and must deal with the ramifications, and yet the danger ramps up as Mendoza closes in and they believe there is a traitor in their midst that thwarts their every move.
I read this in one sitting; I could not put it down, needing to know the end. Eve is a kick-ass woman and can take anything that is thrown at her, but she is still vulnerable when it comes to Mac. They had something special several years ago and because of their pasts, they needed to break away. Mac had a hard time getting over his protectiveness of Eve, you can see the struggle but I like how he changes as they fight together and he knows what a strong woman Eve is, and always has been. Plus I have to say that Mac is a great at groveling, trying to explain that he has changed.
The two have some definite chemistry; their feelings have never gone away and resurface immediately when together. Their scenes together are steamy and hot as they heat up whatever room they are in, enjoying the desires they feel for each other. I like them as a couple even though we watch Mac struggle with his over protectiveness. I also enjoyed meeting several of the secondary characters and I hope we see them again, especially Cade, an alpha hero who can hang with the best of them.
As I stated earlier, the pace of the story is fast, as we race toward the conclusion and there are several twists and turns that lead you down one path and then another, although the ending comes fast, and the HEA is quick, it works well. All in all, Resolutions is a great romantic suspense with action, hot sexy scenes and passion.
I give Resolutions by Teri Riggs 4 stars!
