A HIGHLAND ROGUE Edmund MacGregor will do anything to save Scotland from English rule-even kidnap Lady Amelia Bell for ransom. As the daughter of a duke and the chancellor’s betrothed, she’s the perfect pawn in this game. But from the moment he first lays eyes on his spirited captive, he can’t resist stealing a kiss . . .

AN ADVENTUROUS LADY Lady Amelia’s duty is to marry well, but that hasn’t stopped her from fantasizing about true love. So when a sexy Scot appears in her home, she’s beguiled. When he kidnaps her, she’s furious. Yet as Edmund introduces her to a world of passion beyond her wildest dreams, can she leave her family behind for this handsome Highlander? And will Edmund risk the only true home he’s ever known to capture the heart of this lovely lass?

There is nothing like a wonderful highland romance that takes you to distant lands, I love immersing myself in the people, their conflicts and the romance between the hero and heroine. This is the start of a new series (the heirs from previous books) by an author who pens amazing highland romances.

Edmund MacGregor and his cousins are determined to stop the signing of the Treaty of Union that will change the face of Scotland forever. They have tried several methods and have not succeeded so they have decided to take something of value from the Duke of Queensberry, his niece, who is about to marry the Chancellor of Scotland. Edmund and his three cousins, Lucan, Darach and Malcolm work their way into Queensberry’s home to get close to Lady Amelia, yet when he meets her he is conflicted, there is an immediate attraction between the two but he knows where his loyalties lie.

Lady Amelia Bell is about to marry, not because she is in love, but because she feels she has to for her parents. She too, knows where her loyalties lie and it is not with the man who she just met in the gardens. When she finds herself kidnapped she is obviously angry, yet secretly she is excited that she gets to spend time with Edmund but their adventure is just beginning as they travel to his lands to wait for word from her family. There are past enemies that the cousins must face, alignments that must be formed to protect Scotland and dangers that they will encounter.

I absolutely adore Amelia, she is a strong woman who plans to do her duty for her family and marry someone she does not love, but secretly she wishes she could be more like her best friend Sarah, a servant who will make her own choices in love. She is thought of as a klutz and most believe that misfortune follows her, yet to me she seems a bit self-conscious but she rises about this, especially when she is with Edmund. And speaking of Edmund, he is a special hero who wants to help his adoptive country but is falling in love and must make a choice in the fight against England in order to keep Amelia close. I like that he easily makes the choice but he must still convince Amelia that they can be together. The chemistry between the two is perfect and I like that they admit early they are in love; there are just obstacles to overcome.

The secondary characters add depth and charm to this story, Edmund’s cousins are all swoon worthy as they stand by his side through thick and thin, of course they bicker and fight like brothers but that just adds to the story. There is also Amelia’s bestie Sarah, a woman who enjoys life, helps Amelia with her struggles and finds her own HEA with one of the cousins. And then there are the Buchanan’s, a clan they have been feuding with for years, but with changing times comes changing alliances so they have formed this tentative truce but the real alliance may be between Darach and Buchanan’s sister Janet, I can’t wait for that story.

The plot is fast paced and the story flows from beginning to end, there is humor and sadness along with several sub-romances that keep you turning the pages. This is the first in a series and although it follows the MacGregor family from previous books, the author seamlessly brings you into the family and you do not have to read the previous series to enjoy this book. I highly recommend this story about highland family, loyalty and love.

I give The Seduction of Miss Amelia Bell by Paula Quinn 4.50 stars!
