TEN YEARS AGO ONE DEVASTATING NIGHT CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR AUSTIN, HUNTER AND ALEX. NOW THEY MUST EACH PLAY THEIR PART IN THE REVENGE AGAINST THE ONE MAN WHO RUINED IT ALL.

Hunter Talbot Grant III, sports figure du jour, wealthy beyond measure and disreputable by choice, has cultivated a reputation that masks the shadows of his past. When the opportunity to ensure financial destruction for Jason Treffen arises, he can’t refuse. But first he must shake off the woman sent to tame him!

Zoe Brook, PR agent extraordinaire, never fails to transform a tarnished star. And Hunter’s no different. Except there’s a catch. Beneath their scorching mutual attraction, Zoe has a secret, she’s also been on the wrong side of Jason Treffen, and she has as much of a taste for revenge as Hunter does!

After really enjoying book one of this trilogy each penned by different authors, I had high hopes for this one. Not only because of the story arc set forth by Maisey Yates in the first book, but also because Caitlin Crews was a new author to me. Unfortunately this one fell short for me and I had a hard time even finishing it.

Hunter, former football star, has hit rock bottom. Feeling guilt for the ten years since his girlfriend committed suicide, Hunter no longer cares what people think of him. Everyone it seems except PR agent Zoe. Her help does come with a price though, help her take down the man behind the suicide and the decimation of lots of career driven women. Hunter doesn’t care about his image but helping to take down Jason Treffen is something he can’t readily pass up. Along with his two best friends he’s prepared to do whatever it takes. He just never expected to fall for Zoe long the way.

I wanted to like this one, but I found it to be incredibly slow paced. There was also so much internal dialogue that I quickly got bored without the character interaction. There is so much thinking about feelings and not enough acting that the chemistry gets lost. Honestly, I barely made it through and I think the only reason I kept going is because I was afraid if I didn’t that book three wouldn’t make sense to me. When Hunter and Zoe finally talk about her motives behind wanting to take down Treffon everything important was glossed over. I guess I wanted more detail….more conflict…just…more.

Hopefully the final installment gives readers a bit more progression and perhaps a bit more depth and insight.

I give Scandalize Me by Caitlin Crews 2.75 stars
