Event planner Emma Henry is used to focusing all her attention on reaching her goals and letting romance fall by the wayside. But when her sister Sam’s bachelorette party prompts the most tightly-wound Henry to let her hair down, Emma’s night ends with the entire town linking her to a man who could lay waste to anyone’s best-laid plans.
Army vet Seth Andersen thought that joining the police department in sleepy Harvest Cove would offer a quiet, normal life. But when he finds himself responsible for uptight Emma Henry at the end of her wildest night ever, his world turns unexpectedly complicated—and he’s surprised to discover he doesn’t mind at all…
This is such a fun, cute story and I enjoyed every minute of it. The second in a delightful small town series that includes some intriguing and quirky characters.
Seth Anderson has lived in Harvest Cove for six months. He wanted to get away from the big city and his family for awhile. He is on the small police force in town and has enjoyed his quiet life.
Emma has lived here her entire life, part of the eccentric Henry family that is both a haven and a curse to her. She is a party planner in town and works extremely hard to be centered and not make any waves, living a very boring life, that is until she gets drunk at her sister’s bachelorette party. Now she is the talk of the town and she does not know if it was the YouTube video or the fact that she went home with the new town sheriff, but either way she is not happy.
Seth has known about Emma since he moved to town, but she works most of the time, rarely going out, so he never had a chance to meet her, until the faithful night that changed both their lives.
When I read the first book in this series, I liked how it was a bit different, with some angst and emotional past issues that came to light. This has the same feeling but seemed bit lighter and I enjoyed it just as much.
Emma just wants to live her life under the radar, her family has held the quirky spotlight for many generations and she does not want to add anything to the story, so she keeps her personal life locked up tight, never being the center of attention, until she lets loose one night and the whole town sees her differently.
Seth is enjoying his quiet new lifestyle, he loves his family but needed to get away. He was in the service and came home several years ago, but several of his buddies have lost the battle of PTSD and he has suffered whenever he hears one of them has taken their own lives. When he takes Emma home and helps her through a night of drunkenness, he is intrigued and wants to get to know her more but she puts on the breaks as fast as she can, not wanting to be the talk of the town. Yet she can’t seem to forget about him and they soon gravitate toward each other. The chemistry is incredible but they both have roadblocks up that seems to be stopping their relationship from going any farther, they both must deal with the past.
The pace is perfect as we follow these two through their growing relationship. I love coming back to this quaint New England town to familiar characters from the first book and continued story lines. Zoe is still as feisty as ever and I like how Jason is making her crazy, their book is next and I can’t wait. There is a small amount of drama that causes Emma to pull away, I was not sure it fit in to the story but it was solved quickly and the story moved on. Although this is the second in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone as the author does a great job of keeping the reader in the loop. A wonderful contemporary story that will appeal to those that enjoy heartwarming tales featuring small town life.
I give Every Little Kiss by Kendra Leigh Castle 4 stars!
