On the eve of her first comic book release, Ella Briley has a problem: no date to the launch party. Things go from bad to worse when she stumbles into the past . . . and straight into the arms of her very own Mr. Darcy.

Patrick St. John, Earl of Meadowfair, is too noble for his own good. To save his friend from what is sure to be a loveless marriage, he’s agreed to whisk the girl off to wed the man she truly loves. But all goes awry when Patrick mistakes Ella for the would-be bride . . . and finds this modern girl far too tempting for even the noblest of men to resist.

I enjoy reading a good time-travel, the circumstances that bring the hero or heroine into an unfamiliar setting is always entertaining as they forge their way through confusing settings and situations.

Ella Briley is an artist about to make her big break with a new job when she falls through a mirror sending her to a not so unfamiliar time and place. She knows she has been here before but is not happy about returning, especially alone.

Patrick is willing to help his childhood friend Amelia with her flight to freedom as he agrees to a crazy idea so she can marry her true love. When he kidnaps the wrong woman things go from bad to worse as the two traipse across the country side as he hides from Amelia’s father, tries to keep Ella alive and also tries to find out what happened to Amelia, as she is missing.

I truly enjoyed this book, it is the first book I have read by this author but it won’t be my last. The characters are believable and when you combine them with a highly entertaining story it is a fun read full of miscommunication and drama.

Ella is a kick; she is funny and intelligent and took many of the unfamiliar occurrences in stride as she navigates her way in a strange time. Granted she has some experience with time-travel since she was here before with her friend, but it was short and she was back in her own place a few hours later. This time she is there on her own and must make the best of it. She had me laughing with her inner thoughts about her situation and I like how she was so open with everyone about her circumstances, even if they looked at her like she was crazy.

Patrick is a sweetheart, a beta hero with a heart of gold who would do anything for a friend, including going with a plan to help his childhood friend, which starts the all trouble. I like how he treats Ella, even when he does not know her well; they seem to have this immediate connection that transcends time, hmmm I am sure Mrs. Knightsbridge, the manipulator, has a reason for these two coming together.

The chemistry is apparent with Patrick and Claire but with so much going on there are many obstacles to overcome before they could even think about a future. I will say that I wanted to smack Amelia several times, she often thought of herself without realizing the consequences. Other secondary characters were important to the story, I like Iain, he is a good friend and I would love to read his story one day. This is the third in a series however it can easily read as a standalone, there are mentions of previous adventures but the author keeps the reader up to date.

The pace is fast as there is a lot going on and the author maintains an intriguing story until the end. I like how the time-travel aspect is incorporated, a fun and entertaining series.

I give Kiss The Earl by Gina Lamm 4 stars!
