After graduating from her M.B.A. program, Alice Reed is surprised when she’s recruited for the management training experience at legendary Camp Durand, owned by Durand Inc.’s young, billionaire CEO, Dylan Fall. The company usually recruits from Ivy League schools, not insignificant colleges like Alice’s.

Alice enthusiastically accepts, but she still wonders why Dylan would choose a girl from the wrong side of the tracks for the prestigious program. But after a passionate encounter one night, she discovers exactly why—Dylan wants her, and Alice can hardly resist his fierce sexual appetites, though she is amazed that she could appeal to an experienced, sophisticated man like Dylan.

As Dylan introduces her to thrilling, erotic territory, Alice discovers a delicious new part of herself. Night after night, she steals away to find ecstasy and escape in Dylan’s arms. But behind her lover’s powerfully magnetic facade, Alice senses darkness, secrets from Dylan’s past lurking in his beautiful, lonely mansion—secrets that are starting to haunt Alice. And the ghosts of the truth might tear Dylan and Alice apart forever . . .

With a head for numbers and a brain wired for greatness, Alice has never needed to fit in though she longs for just that. Always on the outside, Alice has trouble connecting with people on a social level. When she’s offered an interview with one of the most prestigious businesses in the world, she knows she can’t turn down the opportunity even if the idea of having to pull the dog and pony show to prove her worth angers her immensely. When a last minute interviewer change throws her in with the CEO himself, Dylan Fall, Alice’s nerves ratchet up to near coronary level and her sassy attitude cannot be contained.

Alice Reed is not what Dylan Fall was expecting at all. She’s more. Offering her a chance in his companies management training program is a no-brainer and serves several purposes, none of which he’s willing to share with anyone…especially her.

First and foremost, although categorized as a contemporary erotic romance, this book was a total mind fuck from front to back. It’s got suspense and mystery in spades that kept me on the edge of my seat and coming back again and again. I never quite knew what was going on or how things would get resolved. This is book one to what is at least a two part book, but there isn’t a huge cliff hanger which I was grateful for.

Alice is a total ball buster of a woman. She’s not some sheltered ivy league a-hole like a lot of the other people vying for the management position. She doesn’t consider herself a savant, but the woman knows her stuff and often gets so into the numbers of a business that she loses track of time. Growing up in a less than stellar neighborhood had molded her into a stubborn, ambitious, slightly socially inept woman. She often speaks before she thinks which tends to get her into trouble. Under all her gruffness is someone who wants to fit in but feels unable to, instead hiding behind her attitude. Being able to open up to Dylan both amazes and scares her. She doesn’t trust people, ever. Dylan makes her feel safer than she has in years and in that safeness she finally starts to let go.

Strange things keep happening around Alice and she keeps running to Dylan in hopes of him figuring everything out. His guarded nature whenever she brings up the odd incidents ring warning bells in her head but his touch erases any suspicions she may have. He pushes her past every boundary she has in the bedroom and out of it. It’s obvious the man has secrets but she’s willing to overlook nearly anything if he keeps his hands on her every night. Glimmer has some truly scorching scenes that Kery has written with the ability to make readers feel like they are there. I enjoyed Dylan’s protective shadowing, even when Alice resented it and his secrecy. By the end of the book I felt that I understood him better and with the revelations he dropped on Alice, hope he can continue to be her rock into the next book.

Glimmer is a definite must read for erotic lovers who want a little mystery mixed into their molten hot romance!

I give Glimmer by Beth Kery 4.25 stars!
