SHE’S HOLDING ON TIGHT. As a teen, Dawn ran from a life on the streets straight into the arms of Jimmy “Mad Dog” Sanchez, a biker who promised to be her knight in shining armor. But his love was just another cage. Years later, Dawn’s former life still has its hooks in her and she’ll do whatever it takes to break free. When Cade “Ryder” O’Connor, a member of a rival club, makes her an offer, Dawn finds herself in a different, hotter kind of trouble with one irresistible Sinner…

WILL HE GIVE HER THE RIDE OF HER LIFE? Cade is an outlaw biker with allegiance to one thing and one thing only: The Sinner’s Tribe Motorcycle Club. But when it comes to the stunningly sexy, fiercely independent Dawn Delgado, Cade finds himself…hungrier for more. Trouble is on Dawn’s heels and he wants to be the answer to her prayers, whether she wants him to be or not. What can’t be denied is the red-hot attraction between them. However, as they fall deeper, the danger rises and Cade may have to sacrifice it all…

I’m going to gush and sound like a total Sarah Castille fangirl – I can’t help it. Ms. Castille is moving quickly towards the top of my favorite authors list. I’ve read three of her books this year and any one of them (or all of them) can hold a spot in my top ten. Beyond the Cut delves back into the world of outlaw bikers where loyalty is number one, and justice is served swiftly and mercilessly.

We first met the Sinners in Jagger and Arianne’s story, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but this book tops that one by a mile. I got about two thirds of the way through it when I was temped to go back and start over – it was that good. There’s something about these Sinners and the way they fall for their women. They are ruthless and often violent, chauvinistic and alpha to the core, but they have a fierce loyalty to their club brothers and a need to protect their way of life (including the women they can’t live without).

That loyalty, that sense of belonging, is what Cade O’Connor desperately needed after his military career ended in tragedy. Flooded with guilt over the loss of his team, he drowns his sorrows in alcohol and women, until he slowly finds his place on the Board of the Sinners MC. Known as the club playboy, his exploits with women are legendary, and he has no desire to change his carefree ways. Two nights with one Dawn Delgado are the beginning of his downfall – he finally found a woman HE has to pursue, and one he can’t get out of his head.

Dawn is the ex-wife (and ex-old lady) of Jimmy “Mad Dog” Delgado, a member of the Sinner’s rival MC. After years of surviving on the streets, Dawn saw Jimmy as her personal savior. In reality, she simply traded one hell for another and suffered years of abuse at his hands. His MC, the Devil’s Brethren, show no compassion or respect to women, and it was Jimmy’s preference to “share” her with his brothers as often as he abused her, both physically and mentally. When he eventually directs his violence toward their daughters, Dawn had to risk it all to be free of him.

There is so much I could say to set up this story, but my review would be almost as long as the book! Jimmy is an asshole of epic proportions. Dawn lost custody of her twin girls because of him, and she is determined to do anything and everything to escape the biker world and get her girls back, even if it means playing by Jimmy’s rules.

When a chance encounter brings Cade face to face with the woman he can’t forget, he is instantly drawn in. He wants to slay her dragons and lay the world at her feet (in biker speak, he wants to make her his “old lady” and kill anyone who has ever hurt her). The one problem with that is Dawn. She Is bound and determined to live as far away from the biker world as she possibly can. Her number one goal is to get her girls back and live a normal life. Being with Cade screams the absolute opposite of normal. No matter how ridiculously hot he is, no matter how easy it is to convince herself he is nothing like Jimmy, to her Cade is the poisoned apple in the Garden of Eden – luring her back into a world she has worked hard to leave behind.

I absolutely adored Cade and Dawn. He was tough and protective and held onto his control with an iron fist. But he had a weakness for Dawn that any fool could see. He wanted her, he wanted to protect her and keep her safe, and while he wasn’t exactly waxing poetic, this big bad biker could break through her defenses with his earnest determination to protect her. Having someone take care of her is a novel concept for Dawn. She doesn’t know what to do with him or his tendency to dominate her and charm her at the same time. It’s difficult for her to wrap her mind around the two facets of this complicated man: the outlaw biker who often has blood on his hands and the man who makes breakfast for her little girls and sets her body on fire with just a look.

Dawn and Cade were so much fun, so emotionally invested in each other even though they tried not to be, and so incredibly HOT together. They were perfectly compatible in bed (and against the wall, and on a desk) – the sex scenes in the book are few and far between but they are scorching! The storyline involving the Sinners and their rival club the Black Jacks continues on from the first book, and it’s obvious there is a lot more antagonism and bloodshed in Conundrum’s future. If it means more raw, sexy romances like this, I say bring it on!

I give Beyond the Cut by Sarah Castille 5 stars!
