After a devastating war decimated most of the world, Hudson Lane has only known the oppressive life under her own father’s tyranny. She finally escapes, branding herself an outlaw and hunted by the Enforcers. Her best chance at survival is Connor Mackenzie, an aggressively sensual fugitive who opens her eyes to the wicked possibilities of a world without rules.

As the leader of a band of outlaw fighters, Connor can’t resist the beautiful stranger who asks for his protection. Despite his reservations, he agrees to introduce her to a whole new way of life. But when Connor discovers Hudson’s connection to the enemies of liberty, he wonders how far he can trust the woman who has abandoned all inhibitions to challenge every forbidden desire.

Ohh I like this book. The world building and character creation are amazing and I read this in one sitting. This first in the series features a leader of a band of outlaws who is a sexy alpha male and the woman who intrudes on their group only to become one of them.

The world was destroyed years ago through global war and the leaders got together to create a Global Council with several cities around the world to keep order among the people. They have created a communist society where everyone is treated the same, except of course the Global Council, their family members and the Enforcers, a group of fighters who uphold the laws of the land. Many outlaws have escaped the cities and create their own laws to live without oppression.

Conner never wanted to be a leader, yet others follow him easily, as he radiates a confidence that is hard to resist. He leads a team of outlaws, living in a fortress they have created for protection while they raid the Global Council’s supplies and wreak havoc on anything that is Council related.

Hudson has escaped the city and the influence of the Global Council because of a bleak future, but as she travels she realizes life outside the city is more dangerous than she ever believed. She finds a group that can help her, now she must convince them she is worthy, yet the secrets she hides could kill them all.

This has it all, a sexy group of fighters living in a world that is completely different after a devastating world war, a kickass heroine who is easy to like and a dangerous, interesting plot to keep you reading until the end.

Hudson is an amazing heroine, a strong intelligent fighter who left the “city” to escape a terrible future. She comes across a group of five men in a bar, and after a scuffle with some bandits, she asks if she can travel with them, Conner’s first and only response is NO, yet she convinces the others and he finally agrees. She has many secrets that keep them wary of her, but as they survive together, one by one she wins them over. She is naïve because of the way she has lived but she is willing to experience many different things including whatever Conner has in store for her.

Conner is a hardened man that has several secrets of his own that drive him. He is not happy including Hudson into the group, he never wanted the group in the first place, preferring to stay by himself, but that is because of the images that haunt him. He holds out for as long as possible with Hudson, she is very sexy and he knows she wants him and he throws several diversions her way but she is determined and he can’t resist and the author creates some very erotic scenes between them.

I really love the secondary characters that form this group of outlaws, Rylan, Pike, Xander and Kade, they all have their own stories and I will be waiting anxiously to read them. The camaraderie between this group is amazing; they fight between themselves like brothers yet have each other’s back when danger threatens. Most of them welcomed Hudson immediately, there were a couple of holdouts, but in the end she proves she is a remarkable person and they could not resist her.

The pace is fast, with action and heat that had me turning the pages until the end to see what happens. There are some twists and turns that keeps you guessing about the outcome and dangerous situations that the group is involved in, all in all an amazing ride. I have read many books by this author and I know I will always be entertained.

I give Claimed by Elle Kennedy 4.25 stars!
