When an assassin tries to kill undercover DEA agent Tucker Pankov the same week his boss is taken out, Tucker has good reason to be paranoid. And when other members of his elite team are not only targeted, but stripped of top-secret security clearance, Tucker has one shot at discovering who wants them dead—and why. So he kidnaps the only woman he thinks can save them.

Brilliant NSA analyst Karen Stafford doesn’t like being forced into anything, especially by someone she doesn’t trust. Yet after a hijacked US-owned drone starts attacking government installations resulting in mass casualties, Karen has to take Tucker’s side. Now, two unlikely allies must unite to prevent an escalating and unthinkable terrorist conspiracy. But as Tucker and Karen grow intimate, they realize the conspiracy runs deep, and their enemies are closer than anyone realized.

This is another action packed romantic suspense that had me turning pages until the end. I have enjoyed this series and love how the author takes us on a wild ride that is both sexy and thrilling.

Tucker Pankov has recently finished an intense undercover assignment and is hanging out at his secluded retreat for some rest and relaxation, unfortunately someone has other plans. His impenetrable home is breached and he prevents an attempt on his life, only to find out that his colleagues have had the same attempts and his boss Max has been murdered. The team bands together to find answers but realize that things are beyond their control as they are being framed for the murder and several droid attacks on political events causing more casualties. They need to contract Wesley, the head of the NSA and a good friend of Max’s, to see if they can clear their names, unfortunately he is hard to get in contact with.

Karen Stafford works for the NSA as an assistant to Wesley Burkhart; however she is more than what she appears, as a highly intelligent operative and computer genius she is Wesley’s right hand at times. She is also the only way for Tucker’s team to reach Wesley; who has not returned their phone calls. So they kidnap her, which definitely gets the NSA’s attention.

The team is on run from Wesley’s team and also on the hunt for whoever is behind the assassinations which should help clear their names before they also come up murdered. When they split up to throw people off their tracks, Tucker and Karen find themselves at a safe house with their growing attraction too hard to resist as they wait for answers.

Another winner in the Deadly Ops series, this is a fast paced suspense featuring a sexy hero and heroine who work beyond the law to catch a killer and clear their names.

I think Tucker is an amazing hero that just wants to do his job and move on. His partners are also very likeable and I enjoy their camaraderie and how they have each other’s back. They are ex-military and know how to bring down the bad guys. It is only after they are framed and have nowhere to turn that they are forced to contact Wesley in the most unconventional way.

I like Karen; she is smart and thinks things through before acting. When she is kidnapped she is scared at first, tries to run and fight but after she meets the guys and finds out what is going on she believes them and is on board to help. I also like her straight forward ways, she is attracted to Tucker and lets him know as they take advantage of some alone time before they are taken in to meet Wesley. There are some definite hot scenes between these two.

A fun suspense where the perpetrators are known to the reader, we get their POV and how they are creating havoc with the team’s lives, but there is still some mystery of how far they will go and who is truly evil. This is the fourth book but it can easily be read as a standalone, the author keeps the new reader informed and there is one common key, Wesley, he has been in the previous books and he seems to be the tie between the different heroes and heroines that are featured in each story. I like him and look forward to hearing how he is involved each time I start a new book, as he is an interesting leader. Other secondary characters play important roles, we see some previous characters and meet some new ones, I especially enjoyed the three from Tucker’s team Cole, Brooks and Kane and look forward to more with these three. From start to finish this is a wild ride of fast pace suspense and romance.

I give The Edge of Danger by Katie Reus 4.25 stars!
