Sela Halstead lost her innocence in a way that no sixteen-year-old should ever have to endure. She’s spent years trying to forget that night even while wondering about the identities of the monsters who brutalized her—until a telltale tattoo flashes across Sela’s TV screen. The incriminating ink belongs to Jonathon Townsend, the millionaire founder of The Sugar Bowl, a website that matches rich older men with impressionable young women. Obsessed with revenge, Sela infiltrates Townsend’s world, only to come face-to-face with a tantalizing complication: Beckett North, his charismatic business partner.
The tech mastermind behind The Sugar Bowl, Beck always gets what he wants, in business and in bed. And yet, for a man who’s done every dirty thing imaginable, there’s something about the naïve, fresh-faced Sela that sparks his hottest fantasies. Because with her, it’s not just about sex. Beck opens up to her in ways he never has with other girls. So why does he get the feeling that she’s hiding something? In a world of pleasure and power, the shocking truth could turn them against each other—or bind them forever. Note: Sugar Daddy ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story continues in Sugar Rush and Sugar Free!
I have not read any of Sawyer Bennett’s previous books before. I will be going back to read all of her books but I am glad I started with this one!
After a tragic event unfolds when Sela is sixteen, she never really moves on from it. She had depressive episodes and attempted to harm herself. She was watching TV one day when the reporter was interviewing Jonathan Townsend, JT, founder of the Sugar Bowl, whom Sela recognizes from his tattoo to be one of her three rapists. Sela pulls herself together and sets a plan. She makes changes her hair, starts working out, all in hopes that JT does not recognize her. Sela plans for revenge, she is going to kill JT for taking her innocence.
Jonathan Townsend is the founder of The Sugar Bowl. It is a company that pairs up wealthy men and women with their young, gorgeous fantasies. These dates are meant to be for company but I’m sure you can guess what really is going down. Sela’s plan for revenge includes posing as one of the “Sugar Babies” in the company so that she can get close to JT.
Beck is an IT wizard and part-owner of The Sugar Bowl, a dating website with the purpose of Sugar Daddies finding Sugar Babies. He is gorgeous and guess what…he doesn’t do relationships.
Beck meets Sela at a Sugar Bowl mixer. After asserting herself, big mistake, she crashes and burns with Jonathan. Beck has been watching from afar and offers her one night, which Sela takes using him as another way to get to Jonathan.
Beck sees something in Sela that makes him realize she is not as confident as he thought she was which makes him very intrigued. He tracks her down and he shows up at her apartment with an agreement to enter a “sugarship”. All of Sela’s education paid for by Beck if she moves in with him for one month. Sela, of course, takes the opportunity thinking that this is her chance to get information on Jonathon.
As time passes, Sela and Beck are building a real connection. The longer it goes on, the less Sela thinks about JT and getting revenge. She realizes that Beck is healing her and she is not as broken as she once thought she was.
I loved Sela right away. What a badass chick going straight for the jugular. She had everything planned out, but she totally miscalculated Jonathan. I have to say that at first, I wasn’t too sure about Beck. But I fell, and fell hard for him. He let me down at the end of the book but I’m hoping he makes up for it in the next book. I absolutely loved Beck and Sela together. Their chemistry was amazing and the sex was definitely red-hot. Jonathan, well, he’s just a horrid human being. I’m really hoping he gets what’s coming to him!
This book is suspenseful but also sexy as hell. The ending…WOW. I literally sat and kept trying to flip the pages looking for more! I cannot wait to see what happens next in Sugar Rush and Sugar Free.
I give Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett 5 stars!
