From the first moment I saw Janny Moore’s sparkling eyes and luminous smile, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of getting to know her…watching.

She’s everything I need in my life, now I just have to convince her.

She’s never set eyes on me, she has no idea I exist…but she will.

I love stumbling on new authors with great stories to tell. Jacob Chance is such an author for me. Quake is his debut novel and what a debut it is. It is filled with angst, suspense, and hot steamy scenes! Definitely a book you can’t put down once you start.

In Quake we get an original story told in dual point of views. Two people destined to be to be together, but who met in an unconventional way, at least for one of them.

Kyle McKenzie is a former cop, now a private investigator. Maybe not what he thought would become of his life, but where he now finds himself. In the course of his job, he finds himself investigating a husband for a new client. During the course of the investigation, he finds himself watching Janny Moore, without her knowledge. In her he sees possibilities.

Kyle is a strong, alpha male that seems to have lost his way. A tragedy changed the course of his life and now he finds himself just going through the motions. But though he is strong and determined, there is also a side to him that calls to you and draws you in.

Janny is young, beautiful and strong. She is finishing school and making plans. It is very easy to like her and feel like she can be your friend. She was not looking for love, but then she met Kyle she saw possibilities.

But secrets will come between them and they will need to figure out if they have what it takes to make it through the long haul. Do they have what it takes?

I loved how I found this story unique and enthralling with two strong and determined characters, but who had flaws that made them very relatable and likable. The story flowed nicely and though both seemed to be instantly attracted to each other, took the time to get to know each other as they moved forward. Add in the suspense and angst, and you get one hot story you cannot put down.

And that ending. That ending just about killed me. It was totally unexpected. I would easily recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Jacob Chance.

I give Quake by Jacob Chance 4 stars.

If you’d asked me when I was in college what I thought I would be doing in ten years’ time, this wouldn’t have been my answer. Life as a private investigator isn’t as exciting as one might think. Sure, there are moments of danger which get my adrenaline pumping and when that happens, no other high can compare. I used to live for that feeling and for a while you could even say I was addicted to it. But the choices we make have consequences and one decision can change everything.

These days I do a lot of watching and even more waiting. I’m the guy people pay to find the truth buried under all the lies. Eventually, I see past the surface of who you’re pretending to be, revealing all that you’ve kept hidden and I know firsthand appearances can be deceiving.
