It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.
That was seventeen years ago.
I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.
Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.
This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken . . .
** This book is a STANDALONE **
So one day I hear Corinne Michaels is releasing a new standalone book soon. I love her books and her characters and was beyond excited to get my hands on this book. We get the blurb next and again, I am all in and ready to dive right in. When I do, I find my heart may just not be able to take it. The emotional rollercoaster is non-stop, even as the need to continue and not stop reading until every word is devoured drove me to the very end. This is the kind of emotion Corinne’s writing evoked in this book. This is her best work to-date and a must read.
This is a second chance love story, but it is also so much more. I do not even know where to begin. It was emotional, it was heartbreaking, it was everything. I cannot stress how much you need to read this now. This was such an emotional read that you will EXPERIENCE EVERY MOMENT OF IT. Every moment.
Presley and Zach will steal your hearts, even as they break it and try your patience to the very last. Even as I wanted to curse and throw my eReader across the room I loved them.
Each other’s first love, Presley and Zach fell in love, with all the fierceness and commitment that comes with young love. They believed it was the forever kind. But as it sometimes happens, they end up going down different paths, making choices and moving on.
Years later Presley is broken-hearted and starting over. She finds herself heading back to the town she escaped from to try and start over. The last place on earth she wants to be. But when her world is turned upside down, she has no choice.
I connected so much with Presley. Everything she believed in and thought she knew is shattered in ways she never thought off or imagined. But her children came first and she needed to do right by them. She found the strength she needed and moved forward, as painstakingly as it was. I broke for her. I cheered for her.
Zach. What can you say about Zach? They both made their choices and for reasons of their own. He lives with his own regrets and loss. But when she returns, he is determined to be there. I have so much to say about him, but I also feel this story should be experienced. I do not want to give too much away. But I will say he will steal your heart.
The story, the characters, the emotions will grip you from the start. As mentioned above, this is, in my opinion, Corrine’s best work to date, hands down. You feel Corinne’s soul, blood and tears in every word. I do not think I can do this book justice, but will say it needs to be read. Even through the angst, second chances, love lost and found, hurt, pain and forgiveness.
Days later and I still found myself thinking of these characters. They have stayed with me. This is that kind of book. Easily one of my top reads of 2016.
Though this is the first in a new series, each book will be a standalone.
I give Say You’ll Stay by Corinne Michael 5+ you-must-read-this-now stars!
