Avery Collins has just landed her dream job, pastry chef for the posh-Manhattan restaurant Clover. Her new boss, Trace Montgomery, even helped with securing her an affordable place to live: a beautifully restored carriage house owned by his friend, Rafe McKenzie—a man that makes her catch her breath and stirs her imagination. Trouble is, he’s involved with someone, his father is being released after 25 years in prison and Avery is just his tenant. Exploring the attraction that sizzles whenever they’re together would be the icing on the cake, but Avery knows all too well that you can’t have everything. Of course, what’s cake without icing?

Rafe McKenzie’s world shattered at nine when his father Liam—the only parent he knew—was arrested and convicted for armed robbery. Growing up in the system, Rafe managed to survive his childhood and now has a job he enjoys, a house he’s restoring and a tight circle of friends. He’s even working on reconciling with his dad, both eager to put the past in the past.

Happy for the income a tenant would bring, Rafe agrees to rent his carriage house to Clover’s new pastry chef. When Avery Collins pulls up his drive, she’s not at all what he’s expecting. Funny, sexy and as sweet as her desserts, it doesn’t take long for things between them to heat up. Just when it seems as if they’ll have their cake and eat it too, the past comes back with deadly intent leaving Rafe to figure out who’s pulling the strings before his world shatters again.

I have found a new author. Beautifully Decadent was incredibly well done, heart felt, sexy and simply perfect! L.A. Fiore, I can’t believe I’ve never read you before, but make no mistake, I’ll be reading more now.

Beautifully Decadent is book three in the Beautifully Damaged series and while I wish I had read the prior two it’s not because of being unable to follow this one, but because this one was so good I wanted to know all about the characters whose stories had come first.

Avery has just landed her dream job as the new head pastry chef for a very trendy and expensive restaurant called Clover. Her new boss, Trace, even secured her an apt from a friend who was looking for a respectable renter. That friend is Rafe and from the minute Avery sees him she’s half in love. And who is going to blame her, because Rafe is hotter than the sun, has an incredible house/ property he’s restoring by hand himself, he’s successful and he’s sincerely nice. Avery, being clumsy, gets herself into several situations that require Rafe to intervene and I found myself chuckling at her constant mishaps.

I absolutely adored Avery. She was just downright too sweet not to adore. She was giving and caring and truly had everyones best interests at heart in everything she did. While her claws didn’t appear often, I loved when they did in the face of Rafe’s bitchy girlfriend because that chick HAD TO GO.

Because Rafe spends a large chunk of the book with a girlfriend, things are slow to heat, but that simmering attraction was ever present. Their banter was spot on throughout the entire book. When the girlfriend finally gets the boot, Rafe ups his pursuit accordingly and things start to heat up.

The surrounding cast of characters enfolds Avery within their group with ease. Used to being alone, Avery loves that she’s finally found a place where she fits in. As the story progresses the plot thickens to include a mystery of why Rafe’s dad went to jail years ago and who was behind the bank robbing plot he got duped into. Now that he’s out, someone is looking to take care of the last remaining member of the bank robbing team, regardless of if he knows anything about what his other team members were looking for in that bank so long ago. The suspenseful elements definitely added another layer of awesomeness to this one and kept the story pace plugging away at a constant speed.

I loved every single minute of this book. Wonderful story telling, utilizing every bit of my imagination, Beautifully Decadent is a winner! I can’t wait for more from L.A. Fiore!

I give Beautifully Decadent by L.A. Fiore 5 stars!
