Anthony Carter has not had it easy in life. In a matter of months, he lost his mother to cancer along with his much coveted spot in a prestigious doctoral program. Swimming in debt, he’s been forced to move back to his hometown in rural Montana and take whatever job he can find. A drunken weekend in Vegas is exactly what he needs to help him forget his problems.

A recent break-up with her boyfriend of nearly a decade has left straight-laced Liz Rockwell disillusioned with love and in desperate need of a vacation. She gets more than she bargained for when one drunken night at a Vegas bar results in her being married to Anthony. Embarrassed by her lapse in judgment, Liz is ready to make this whole night just go away. A quickie divorce seems like the best solution to their problem, until Anthony realizes who Liz really is.

Known in the media as the Candy Heiress, billionaire Liz is the answer to Anthony’s prayers. All he has to do is convince her to write him a check. Unfortunately, Liz is not one to be easily intimidated or coerced. Discovering the Rockwell family secret may be Anthony’s only hope. But the more time he spends with the intelligent and tenacious Liz, the more he realizes their chapel wedding may not have been such a drunken mistake after all…

This is a story of a night that neither Elizabeth Wheaton Rockwell nor Anthony Carter can remember. As all of their friends ditched them in Vegas, a lonely drunken night at a bar turns into a wedding neither can remember.

I have to say that I recently reviewed another book with the Vegas wedding theme…and I hated it. I’m not a big fan of Vegas weddings storylines. I went into this book thinking that if it was anything like the other story, I’d be done by Chapter 3.

I WAS SO VERY WRONG!! (Don’t ever let my husband know those words came out of my mouth!)

Elizabeth Wheaton Rockwell is an heiress from a dysfunctional and crazy family. She has made suit her mission to make her own way instead of relying on her family’s money. Liz is a successful lawyer who supports herself and trust no one thanks to a devious ex-boyfriend.

Liz and her girlfriends are supposed to meet for a getaway in Vegas. While finding out that neither or her friends are going to show up for their trip, Liz meets Anthony. After discussing who has the worst luck, Liz and Anthony settle in for good conversation and a night neither will remember.

Anthony Carter is a sexy, nerdy biomedical engineer who is waiting tables because of a bad choice he made at MIT. When we first met Anthony, I loved the banter between him and Liz. But once they decided on divorce and each going their own way, I kind of felt bad for him. But then…then…he totally broke my heart by trying to extort Liz!!

Anthony and Liz come to work out a small amount of time together to see if their marriage can work. Liz has no intention of staying married and Anthony is hoping she will feel sorry for him and give him the money he needs to pay off his debts once they divorce. Anthony has plans on using her family to get to her but little does he know how her family truly feels about each other.

The relationship build was slow but you knew when the two came to terms with it, it was going to be amazing. I loved the banter between the two of them and enjoyed how real Anthony was with Liz. He told her exactly what he saw in her, things she had never heard before. You could feel the sexual tension building and when they finally come together, honestly, the sex is off the charts hot!

I adore this book! For a first time author, I am very impressed with her writing style and the story in general. It was a refreshing change of pace to talk about the woman who is the one with the amazing career and who has all the money. This is probably the first book I have ever read where the male character is the one who doesn’t have his life together…and I loved it. I am very excited to read book #2 in the Heiress Series.

I give How to Catch An Heiress by Natalie Rios 5 stars!
