Conquering Stones:

From A Distance by L.M. Carr was a great, unexpected surprise. A beautifully written story of love lost and found and betrayal and hope. Of finding a second chance where you least expect it. This was my first book by this author, but most definitely not my last. It was an all-consuming and heart-wrenching read.

Karrie Parker had it all. Married to a man she loves and finds incredibly sexy, a career she loves, a family who loves her and a beautiful home. But sometimes looks can be deceiving. The man she married, Alex Parker, is not the same man he is now. Distant towards her and rejecting her more often than not, she blames Tyler Strong, his best friend, for distracting him and taking him away from her due their motorcycle drag racing.

She knows Tyler does not like her and from the continuous stories Alex tells her about his womanizing ways, she keeps her distance from him. Resenting the part of his life that keeps him away, she finds herself more and more lost and lonely. Then tragedy leaves her world crumbling and only one man has the answers. The one man she has always hated.

I loved Tyler. He was amazing, sweet and so caring towards Karrie. As Karrie’s world crumbles and she finds out who her husband really is, it is Tyler who helps her along the way. Tyler who always kept his distance, but watched her from afar, because it was Alex who had her. She begins to see a side of Tyler she never knew or expected and not the one her husband described. Though he is not perfect, he made mistakes, but he comes cleans to Karrie, even as it hurts her.

As to story progresses, we also begin to see how much Alex changed and hurt Karrie. He was not the man the world saw, but she always hoped to see the man she thought she married. As Alex’s lies and deceit start to unravel, Tyler and Karrie come to terms with what they feel and want, but can they overcome all the hurdles and be together?

Though at the beginning, we see how Alex crushed and hurt Karrie repeatedly, we also see a part of her that is strong and determined.

I loved From A Distance. The story was a heart-wrenching, but behind all the pain, hurt, lies and deceit, can two people meant to be together find their way to each other? The emotions evoked while reading this story will haunt you, but at the end, this is a beautiful story of hope, love and second chances. A must read for 2017.

I give From A Distance by L.M. Carr 5 amazingly beautiful stars!

About the Author:

L.M. Carr, author of The Giving Trilogy, is a wife, a mom, an educator, a reader and a writer who lives in central Connecticut with her family and two dogs. When she’s not sitting at her computer writing, she loves to read or spend time with family and friends.

The idea for the trilogy formed in the summer of 2013 and wouldn’t leave her alone, until she picked up a pen and jotted the thoughts down. Before long, words flowed as the story began to unravel.

L.M. Carr is a lover of “Happily Ever Afters” because the world is filled with enough sadness. Reading is an escape in which anything is possible. But like in reality, stories sometimes take you on a journey through Hell before you can reach Heaven.

Follow along as we begin this journey together.
