Priscilla Story, the self-proclaimed “wild child” of the straight-laced Story clan, has always had a knack for getting herself trouble. Except this time, her “growing problem” is going to require a Daddy sooner than later…or she can kiss her inheritance good-bye.
Shane Olson, who previously dated Priscilla’s sister, Margaret, isn’t opposed to a marriage of convenience for the sake of furthering his business interests, but Priscilla – with her wild ways – is just about the last woman he’d choose to marry.
In order to make the marriage look convincing, they end up having to spend more time together than they’d originally planned. When rolling stone, Priscilla, who lives by the seat of her muu-muu, and seriously-ambitious Shane, who’s had his whole life planned since he was eleven, start falling for each other, it’s going to take a whole lot of compromise for this Bohemian and her Businessman to find their happily ever after.
**REVIEW BY LIZ**
The Bohemian and the Businessman by Katy Regnery was such a delightful read. How could two people who are complete opposites ever make it work? But sometimes opposite is what you need to balance you.
Priscilla Story has always been the black sheep of her family. The Story’s are a straight-laced and no-nonsense family. Her father is rigid and very old-fashioned. Priscilla, on the other hand, lives the by beat of her own drum. She decided a long time ago she was going to live her life how she wanted without a care in the world. But when she finds herself with a growing problem she cannot hide for long, she realizes she is going to have to make drastic plans.
Shane Olson is ambitious, determined and hard-working. He has had his plan for his future set since he was a young boy and nothing, even the wild and beautiful Priscilla Story will change his course. But when Shane realizes the drastic measures he will have to make to ensure the successful future he wants, plans change.
I really liked Priscilla, even when she knew she was a disappointment to her family, she was happy, care-free and determined to live life her way. I hated the way her family made her feel. They could not see Priscilla for how wonderful she was, because she was not like them. Shane was very stiff and determined. He did not mind making plans to further his career, because he wanted the security and success he always dreamed off. But as we got to see him with Priscilla, we began to see a different side of Shane.
I really like this story. Shane and Priscilla were attracted to each other, but knew the other could not give them what they wanted. They were just too different. But once they decided to move forward with the marriage of convenience that would benefit both, they began to spend time together and got to know each other. You get to see them develop feelings and truly care for each other. But with an expiration date on the horizon, could they really make it work?
So much happens in this story. Priscilla is trying to make plans to care for herself and her future. Shane is trying to secure the career path he has always wanted. And her father drives them both crazy. But as the story moves forward, you can’t help but cheer for Priscilla and Shane. I found this story sweet and charming.
I give The Bohemian and the Businessman by Katy Regnery 4-stars!
