Life has thrown me a few curveballs…
But nothing as sexy or devastating as Alejandro.
I never thought I’d see him again, but fate has seen fit to give us another chance.
Maybe this time we’ll get it right. Maybe this time he’ll stay.
Or perhaps my heart is about to be irrevocably shattered.
One way or another, our lives are about to change.
Only time will tell if it’s for better or worse, but one thing is certain…
Alejandro is a force to be reckoned with…maybe even best to be avoided.
But when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes there’s no reasoning.
Sometimes…it’s pure instinct.
Taking a chance on him is like playing Russian roulette—it’s dangerous…foolish…and likely to kill me.
But what’s life without a little risk?
**REVIEW FROM LIZ**
The novella, Mami, from J.C. Valentine is a follow-up to her Papi novella. Where Papi was more steamy and sexy, Mami serves a bit more of reality and adulting. Don’t get me wrong, Alejandro and Julie are still so very steamy together, it’s just the reality of being together takes more precedence in this story.
The story picks up right where Papi left off. Julie has not heard from Alejandro and now he is at her front door asking for another chance. But this time around there may be a lot more at risk.
I loved Julie. She is coming out of a marriage that left her hurt and trying to rebuild her life and that of her children. She is looking for a man who wants to be with her and make her a priority. But at the same time, she feels an attraction to Alejandro she cannot deny. Walking away from him may not be as easy.
Alejandro is sexy, hot and so very alpha. He drips sexuality in every page, but he has commitments that keep him away. I really wish we had his point of view in this story, but get why we did not.
This was another great novella by J.C. Valentine. I enjoyed the story, the characters and getting more background on both Alejandro and Julie. We even got a bit of angst as Alejandro and Julie work out their relationship. I loved the epilogue, however, it made me sad when the author provided the difference between Papi and Mami.
I give Mami by J.C. Valentine 4-stars!
