Parker Cruse despises cheaters. It might have something to do with her boyfriend sleeping with her twin sister.
After a wedding day prank involving a strong laxative, that ends the already severed relationship between the twins, Parker decides to grow up and act twenty-six.
Step One: Move out of her parents’ house.
Step Two: Find a job.
Opportunity strikes when she meets her new neighbor, Gus Westman. He’s an electrician with Iowa farm-boy values and a gift for saying her name like it’s a dirty word.
He also has a wife.
Sabrina Westman, head of a successful engineering firm, hires Parker as her personal assistant. Driven to be the best assistant ever, Parker vows to stay focused, walk the dog, go to the dry cleaners, and not kiss Gus—again.
Step Three: Don’t judge.
Step Four: Remember— when life happens, it does it in a heartbeat.
When Life Happened by Jewel E. Ann is a story about, well life. Life is never easy. Choices can irrevocably change the course of your life. Sometimes life happens and there is nothing you can do about it. And sometimes the path you take in life takes you where you needed to be after all, you just needed to learn a few things along the way. I absolutely loved this book. It was such a sweet, funny, at times, and heartbreaking story.
Parker Cruse’s life is not going exactly the way she thought it would. After catching her twin sister and her boyfriend having sex and severing her relationship with her sister after an evil prank at her weeding, to her ex, her life spiraled out of control for a while. At twenty-six she is ready to make a change. First, move out of her parent’s house. Second, find a job using her degree. Simple, right?
But what happens when life throws a curveball at you that you never saw coming? After moving out of her parent’s house, Parker meets her neighbor and his dog. Gus is an electrician and just what she needs to help her settle into her new place. But he also makes her feel things she should not, since he is very much married.
The last place Parker ever imagined herself in was falling for a man that is already taken. She knows what it feels like to be hurt in a situation like this. She is determined to stay away, but when his wife, Sabrina, offers her an opportunity to be her personal assistant, the offer is too good to pass up. But can she do her job and stay away from her husband?
When Life happened is such a beautiful story of love, loss and forgiveness. Parker is a bit lost at the beginning of the story. She had envisioned this life for herself, but her current situation is anything but what she dreamed off. She needed to find her way, but had to face some obstacles before getting there. When life took yet another twist, she was left heartbroken and devastated.
There is so much I want to share, but this is a story that really just needs to be read and experienced. It is unexpected. A roller coaster of ups and downs. A beautiful story about what happens when life happens. I know many will stay away because of the blurb, but if you are willing to give this story a chance, it is so worth it.
I absolutely loved When Life Happened by Jewel E. Ann. I loved every single one of her characters. They were real and raw. The honesty, love and words in the second half of this book gutted me and filled me with so much emotion. I was consumed from the first page to the last. A must read I highly recommend.
I give When Life Happened by Jewel E. Ann 5-stars
