Cynthia Eden Guest Post and GIVEAWAY!

I am so excited for today’s guest…I tend to get that way when Cynthia comes by to say hello! I squeal and I giggle and then my hubby tells me to knock it off. He’s a spoil sport 🙂 So let’s welcome one of my most favoritest authors EVER…..

Men Who Howl

Hi, everyone! First, a big thanks to my hostess for inviting me over! Thank you!!

My new book, NEVER CRY WOLF, features a werewolf hero. Lucas Simone is tough, downright lethal, yet he can still charm any woman in sight. Ah, a strong wolf. I wrote about Lucas because, quite simply, I love werewolves. I love the wildness inside of them. I love their protective streaks. I love it when they get all kick-ass with their claws.

What can I say? I love men who howl.

Right now, I am particularly enjoying watching the werewolf Alcide on HBO’s True Blood. The actor (Joe Manganiello) playing that character is perfect as a wolf. He’s big, strong, with long hair and a wild side that comes out often to play. When he goes all animalistic, the show gets interesting for me.

But, years ago, there was another wolf who caught my fancy. Get ready…cause I’m going way back in time. Teen Wolf. (The original; I haven’t seen the new MTV version yet.) Michael J. Fox was just fun in the Teen Wolf flick. He was a wolf who had strength, don’t get me wrong, but he was also a wolf with a softer side. And I loved it when he got the (right) girl in the end.

Another wolfie guy that I enjoyed was Michael Corvin from Underworld. He started out as a nice guy, but the minute he started to get his wolf on…the guy became fierce. I do love that fierceness that can come with a wolf shift.

But what about you? Do you have a favorite TV or movie werewolf that you’d like to share? One commenter will be picked to win a copy of NEVER CRY WOLF.

Thanks for checking out my post! Now go get your werewolf on.

Be afraid of the big, bad wolf…

You heard the lady! She’s giving away a print copy of Never Cry Wolf to a random commenter! And believe me, you want to read this book. Well honestly, you want to read anything by Cynthia Eden. Contest open internationally and winner will be announced on June 27th!

Running With A Dangerous Crowd

Lucas Simone is not the kind of guy you mess with. He’s big, he’s strong, and his eyes hint at a wilder side most women can’t handle. Of course, that’s because his predatory instincts are no metaphor—he’s a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf, tough enough to fight his way to dominance over the scariest pack on the West Coast. There’s only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent.

Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse—it’s the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: one, she’s not quite as innocent as she’d like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn’t stop stoking Sarah’s animal lust, it’s only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed. . .

  1. Never Cry Wolf sounds like an awesome read. Thank you for sharing today and the wonderful giveaway opportunity. I have signed up for your newsletter and look forward to following your success! I do not have a favorite TV or movie werewolf, I suppose I could say Jacob from the Twilight movies – he is pretty hunky. However, I like my wolves in books as this gives me the opportunity to picture them in my imagination and that to me is the ultimate fantasy. My favorite in books so far would be Adam from the Mercy Thompson series, although it sounds like he has some serious competition from Lucas Simone 🙂

    1. Hi, Denise! Thanks for checking out the post & I’m glad you think Never Cry Wolf sounds good! And you have brought up such a great point–sometimes, picturing them in your imagination is far more fun than seeing the real thing (especially if the real thing doesn’t match up with the image you’ve created in your mind).

  2. Yummy pic….Wonderful man candy to imagine while reading the book. I would love to read this…really into paranormals these days. Thanks for the post and giveaway!

  3. I also love the character Alcide from True Blood and was a HUGE fan of the original Teen Wolf movie. I watched it so many times when I was a teen and refuse to watch the new Teen Wolf on MTV because it will never compare. lol

Please enter me into the giveaway: hangingwithbells@gmail.com

  4. YAY!!!! Thanks for coming by Cynthia! Of course I think Alcide is friggin HAWT…Im hoping he gets a bigger storyline this season.

For everyone out there…Never Cry Wolf is yummylicious…..my review will be up next week…you dont want to miss this one!

  5. Ohhhh, I love Michael Corvin from Underworld. I hear they’re coming out with another Underworld!!!! I hope the rumor is true! Alcide from True Blood is pretty awesome, too. I don’t watch the show, but I’ve read the books. **sigh**

    1. I heard that rumor, too, Lynn! I went to IMDB and they had it listed, but I don’t think I saw the name listed for the author who usually plays Michael. Maybe someone is replacing him?

  6. Cynthia,

I’m so a shifter gal…always have been. I really noticed werewolves when Jack Nicholson and James Spader starred in Wolf. (Alcide definitely has my attention these days!) The whole demeanor change from normal guy to alpha. (Ok, I’m definitely an alpha gal. When the world gets crazy, I want to know my guy can seriously throw down!) These men knew what they wanted, and they embraced their primal side to get it. There’s just something sexy about the lure of the wild side.

Which is why Never Cry Wolf sounds FANTASTIC! I can’t wait to read it!!!!

  7. Oh no, US residents only! What a pity since Never Cry Wolf would have made the perfect b-day pressie.
I am not much of a television fan so my favorite werewolf is from a book, Vane from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Night Play.
He also has the strong protective streak, strong but also gentle. And I love that he liked his Bride to be a full figure.

  8. I don’t have a favorite werewolf in film. I’ve enjoyed several movies and tv shows portraying werewolves, but I prefer to read about them. Visual has some limitations, while the written word does not. I’m really looking forward to reading Lucas’ and Sarah’s story.

  9. I haven’t seen other than True Blood, too many werewolves and of course Twilight, but TV is not my thing I usually read about werewolves not watch.

  10. Hi Cynthia – I love shifters and you write some of the best. I have to admit I don’t have a favorite wolf in either TV or movies. So far neither media has come up with one that matches how I view them in my minds eye. Now if I went with a wolverine – Hugh all the way baby ;). Thanks for the great post and giveaway.

    1. Thank you, Viki! Oh, yes, Wolverine has my vote, too. Talk about awesome! I was so glad to see that he had a brief (very brief) role in the new X-Men movie. His scene made the flick for me!

  11. I loved everything I’ve read that Cynthia’s written (just wished more was released as mass paperback, those trade size are expensive).

    acm05atjuno.com

    1. Glad you’ve enjoyed the books! Some of the trade size are being re-released as mass market (though you may have already read the next one coming up!). The Naughty List (Christmas anthology) will be out in mass market size this October.

  12. My all time favourite book werewolf is Hawke from Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series. He has all the traits I love in a werewolf although I must admit to looking forward to meeting Lucas. I do love that protective streak, it’s my No.1 love in a were 🙂
As far as TV shows, I loved Oz from Buffy. I must admit to prefering the TV version of Alcide to the book version, he is so nice to look at. Movie… now that is a hard one! I did enjoy Underworld and can easily see why Michael is up there but I think I’m still waiting on the perfect visual of a werewolf. Although that may be hindered by the fact that I haven’t seen many werewolf movies and I’m suddenly feeling the need to rectify that! I’m also looking forward to Teen Wolf. I loved the original and my Hubby still watches it regularly 🙂

  13. Looking forward to NEVER CRY WOLF, next Tuesday can’t come quick enough 😀

Favorite werwolf from TV or a movie, that’s a tough one. I know they are out there but none draw my attention. Now when I think werwolf the first one I think of is Colin Gyth 😀 Colin is exactly what I picture a shifter to be, he has an air of danger around him, a tender side that is only shown to Emily and goes totally alpha if anyone messes with her.

    Thanks for the giveaway!!!!

  14. I don’t have a favorite TV or movie werewolf. I hardly watch any. Now werewolves out of books is a long list. Zach from Go Fetch, Ric from Beast Bad Beast, and Van from Miss Congeniality by Shelley Laurenston; Jason from the Anita Blake books by Laurell K. Hamilton; Hawke from Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh; Rick from Steel Beauty by Dana Marie Bell…the are the werewolves that are at my fingertips that are some of my favorites.Shifters in general is a much longer and varied list and I must not forget Lora Leigh’s Breeds who aren’t were- nor are they completely human.

  15. So, I am also totally crushing on Alcide from True Blood, he is the perfect werewolf. I have been watching True Blood for years, but when they introduced the werewolves, *sigh*…good stuff right there. Werewolves have come a long way…I remember when I was younger and went and saw American Werewolf in Paris…remember that one? The werewolf was all monsterish….yep, werewolves today are much improved…
Anyhow, Never Cry Wolf looks like a great read! Thanks for the contest

  17. I love Alcide in the Trueblood series…No one can be hunkier than Joe…I love his character too… I do love Jacob in Twilight and of course I love werewolves sooo much more than vampires.. They are warm….I love warm…LOL I love your books and I will be reading this one if I win or not 🙂 But I do love to win! Thanks for being so generous Cynthia!

  18. Oh! I love werewolves. I just finished an urban fantasy by Tracey O’hara, which had a yummy werewolf in it named Raven. I love all the MacRieve’s in Cole’s IAD series, Hawke from the Psy/changeling series, and Vane and Fang from the Dark-hunters series.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  19. I totally loved Michael J Fox as Teen Wolf! I can’t wait for Lucas’ story! Hope I win lol good luck everyone!

  20. Well Alcide is pretty hard to beat, though my very first werewolf on tv, was Oz from Buffy, and I still appreciate the special effects that went into his character. As for favorite werewolf in a story, I love, love Nalini’s shifter stories, and just got through reading Kiss of Snow, so Hawke is way at the top of my favorite’s list right now.

Thanks for the chance to win your latest release, Cynthia.

  21. I loved An American Werewolf In London. I cried at the end. I also loved Ladyhawk. But that might have had more to do with Rutger Hauer. Of course, Micheal J. Fox as Teenwolf was a keeper, too! I will admit to liking the concept of the Twilight wolves but I just think the books were…I’ll leave it at that.
    jepebATverizonDOTnet

  22. Oh yeah Alcide tops my list too! My daughter loves Jacob and has posters of him all over her room! I am old enough to remember falling in love with Michael J. Fox as Teen Wolf…geez that seems like eons ago! I can’t really think of any other wolf on tv but there are so many terrific wolfs that come alive in the pages of books to name!

I am a fan of all your work and am looking forward to your new release to add to my collection!

  23. I can’t wait to read this book. I have had it on my wishlist for months now. It looks so good. My favorite werewolf is Gabriel from the book Blood and Chocolate. (not the movie) It was my first werewolf book and I fell in love with him.

  24. Hey Cynthia my friend! Lovin me some werewolves!I have to be honest, I have too many favs to pick one. I know that you know, that I can’t wait to get my greedy little hands on the new book! Congrats on the new release and I can’t wait to read it.

  25. Hi Cynthia..I’m with you on Teen Wolf.i loved that movie when I was younger I watched it over and over.I am now watching the new TV version and am really liking it.You should check it out. Vampire Diaries is another show with werewolves I like. Also OZ from Buffy…but I don’t remember if we saw much of him in wolf form.
Congrats on the new release,it sounds great and I can’t wait to read it.

  26. Can’t think of a fav werewolf character but I recently read “Soulless” by Gail Carriger & the hero Lord Maccon was quite yummy 🙂

  27. WANT! romanceaholic at gmail dot com

Let’s see.. Favorite werewolf.. Well, you already mentioned Michael Corvin *drools* so I suppose I need to think of another one..

Honestly, I think it’d be a character from the same series — Lucian *swoons*

I mean, he’s kind of goofy looking really, but for some reason I could just eat that man up with a spoon *nomnomnom*

  28. I really enjoy paranormals and am constantly on the prowl for new authors. I’ve found one now! I don’t meet many werewolf heroes so this looks like a particularly interested read.
    cambonified(AT)yahoo(DOT)com

  29. Oh wow, 81 responses already by the time I found out. Oh well, I’ll still throw my name into the hat 🙂 I loved Teen Wolf too, but now I like my wolfy guys more intense 🙂

  30. That does bring back fond memories. Hubby has Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf 2. Can’t pass up Michael J. Fox and Justin Bateman (?) . When I think werewolves Ginger Snaps comes to mind (though only females there) and Howling. That was the first were wolf movie I watched and ended up liking.

Since I don’t care for Twilight or True blood I can’t comment on their werewolves.

Though, no matter what, my fondness will always go to a friend’s were wolf role play character. My first real dealings with them (especially since I thought they were cliche back there)

Though… my hubby is a big fan of Fury from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark/Were hunter series.

  31. Your Right i Do Want to Read that Book!
Love Shifter Type Books and this one sounds Great!
