She’s smart, seductive, and in way over her head.

An undercover DEA agent has gone off the radar. Suspecting an internal mole, the government needs Luke Dubois and his elite team of operatives to recover their man, and the New Orleans native thinks he’s found his way inside the dark underbelly of Manhattan: Olivia Taylor, the girlfriend of a mob boss and the sexiest woman he’s ever laid eyes on. His new mission objective? Get past Olivia’s defenses and convince her to take a chance—on him.

He’s her only way out.

All Olivia wanted was to finish law school and live a normal life, but that dream was shattered when one dangerous night put her deeply in a mobster’s debt. Now Luke and his team will help her escape—in exchange for intel on the missing agent. But Olivia doesn’t anticipate her intense attraction to the reckless Louisiana charmer or that she’ll be forced to risk everything—including her heart.

Luke Dubois has been working with Jim Morgan’s team for six years and enjoys the camaraderie he shares with the others on the team. He also enjoys the danger and trills he gets while working with some great guys, Trevor who is just getting back from the living dead after his fiancé was killed, Sullivan who is from Australia and loves his boat more than anything and D who seems to be irritated this time around as if something is bothering him. They are all in New York working for the DEA, as one of their men has gone missing. Carter Dane was working deep under cover at a strip bar and has not been seen for several months.

Vince Angelo is a good looking 35 year old, working for Ric De Luca who is with the mob. Vince is in charge of The Diamond Mine and the girls that work there, he oversees them while they are dancing and will also provide several for parties if his boss wants to entertain his friends. Vince has been trying to hook up with one of the dancers, treating her like a girlfriend, however Olivia does not want any part of his plan for her.

Olivia Taylor, stage name Livy Lovelace, is a student at NYU with one semester left, a friend got her this job last year when she was desperate for money, it was supposed to be a temporary job to pay for tuition and her mother’s medical bills as she has had cancer several times and the bills add up. Her plans got derailed one night when she was attacked by a customer in the parking lot and she killed him as he was about to rape her. Vince and his bodyguard covered up the incident and never reported it. Vince also paid many of her bills and tuition so now he “owns” her and she feels indebted to him. She has been keeping him away, acting like an innocent, but he his getting impatient.

Morgan feels Olivia knows something since she seems close to Vince and tells Luke to keep an eye on her during his surveillance. He arranges for several private VIP dances over the next few days, finally giving her his number to call in case she is scared. She is not sure what to think about him when he leaves.

Isabel usually works for Noelle, a woman similar to Morgan who has a team of her own; however her team is all women. Since Isabel is on vacation she told Morgan she would help while she was in New York. She is a chameleon and is always in disguise when she is undercover. Trevor and Isabel shared a friendship however he was angry when they parted company after the conclusion of their last campaign and he feels bad. For this gig Isabel is working as a dancer at The Diamond Mine going by the name Candy Cane. She tries to be friendly to Olivia but Olivia believes she is spying on her for Vince and brushes her off.

After Olivia finds her friend dead, she is scared and calls Luke saying she is now willing to take his help. She meets the team and they all agree that she is in a good position to get into Vince’s office to see if she can get an address of where Carter might be. Olivia gets the info and they go in for the rescue only to find Carter dead. So the task force believes they are done with their assignment, however Olivia wants to get Vince for what he did to her friend and the team is ready to go when Morgan calls to say the dead guy was not Carter and they are back on the case.

The team again sets up surveillance and this time not only do they want to find the DEA agent, they also want to shut down the drug operation – and Olivia wants to get Vince. The ending races on toward a surprising conclusion as Vince finds out that Olivia is seeing someone, her mother gets sick when they are ready to move to a safe house and danger comes from all angles for the team members .

What a fast pace romantic suspense. This has it all, alpha men working as a team to go in and find a DEA agent missing, strong women who compliment the men with their intellect and courage, and a story that twists and turns throughout. I enjoyed seeing several of the team members from Midnight Rescue – as most are back to work with the DEA. I also enjoyed Olivia and Luke together, the chemistry worked and you could tell that they both wanted to be together and even though Olivia tries to stay away from men like her father, she is still attracted to Luke. I liked how the team members razzed each other as brothers and worked well together – everyone but D who definitely has a story to tell. Isabel and Trevor have a lot of page time in this story setting up the next book in the series which is about them. All in all a thrilling ride to the end.

I give Midnight Alias by Elle Kennedy 4 stars!
