What Am I Reading Next? Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

So, after some serious PEER PRESSURE from certain ladies on Twitter who shall remain nameless *Cough Bellie7 , buckeyegirl31 and Love2Read4Fun Cough* I have decided to read Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning…..

From Goodreads.com:

MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman.

Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens.

When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….

As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane–an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women–closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book–because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands….

Ok, I will admit that it sounds good. And seriously, after all the hype I was hearing about it……and the fact that I was told I HAD to download it to my Kindle because, well it was faster and they are impatient, lol…that has to bode well right? I am going to take their word for it and push my other TBR books off again, lol, and start this one. Let’s hope I don’t like it too much because it’s a series…and we all know how obsessive I can get about awesome series…..

And coming in January 2011

So with my potential to get obsessive I may be stuck on these once I start. And well, that will mean that everything else better just wait for me. Oh, did I mention that these ladies are re-reading the entire series right now? Ha, so by the time they are done with the last installment, Dreamfever (book 4, which I hear has a mega hot sex scene) I MIGHT be done with Darkfever. I’m a slow reader…I’ll admit it. Some of these chicas can read a book a day. I’m lucky if I can get through a book a week. And so, while I should be writing my review for Deadly Fear…which I just finished so I could read Darkfever LOL….I am off to start this book.

Have you read this series? What are your thoughts? What are you reading right now?

  1. I have heard only good words about this series!
Actually. they say that this one, the Wicked Lovely series and The Iron Fae one are the best Fae series around!
    Happy reading!!
I’m thinking of getting my copy too, but I have already bought the Iron Fae series so that might take a while!

  2. I waited to read this because I knew there were some killer cliffhangers. I’d intended to take my time. I mean I had four books to get through. I figured I’d stretch it out and finish just in time for the new release in Jan. It didn’t happen that way. I was so sucked in that I read them all in five days. The world-building in this series is amazing and although I had a hard time connecting to Mac in the first book, for some reason, I couldn’t put it down.

Right now I’m reading Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin’s series and really enjoying it too.

  3. You won’t regret letting them Bully you into reading this series. I once was in your position. buckeyegirl31 and trelaina convinced me to read them last year. I was reluctant, but found the entire series at the used book store for $1 each so I said, “Why not?” then I read the first book and was unimpressed, plus I hate cliff hangers – so I was not a happy camper. I wasn’t going to read the rest, but they kept bugging me & convinced (PROMISED ME) me it was worth it to read the next book. I got sick right after that & figured reading was a good way to pass the time in bed. They were right, I loved the next one & ended up reading the whole series in about a week while I was laid-up. <<<<Now I've told you almost all of this on twitter, but since I have spent the time typing here also, I am going to post it. =) Can't wait to here what you think of them! I'll be following along to monitor your progress.

  4. All I have to add about book 1 is I hope you like pink and reading about pedicures, manicures and other girlie things! Mac starts out as someone you want to smack, or in my case “whack”, and then gets serious as the books progress… Once you get in to this series believe all of us Nikki you will not be able to stop reading, and if you like book boyfriends oh boy are you going to love Barrons!

January is too far away need my “Shadowfever” now!

I am reading one that is in your TBR pile, “The Bodyguard” with Adair, Showalter and O’Clare… You need to check it out of your stack soon and read it, it will not be done slowly!

    jackie >_<

  5. You should put this on your speed read list! Also, I certainly liked the rest of the books more than the first one. I could remember reading the first one and randomly going to my group complaining. MAC TALKS SO MUCH!!!!! But she grows on you.

Barrons! I love the manly men!
