But is Bree too broken to let him in?

Declan may be her only hope for solace, if he’s strong enough to break down her walls. Will she risk letting him in … or let her pain consume her?

This book is intended for readers 18 and older. It contains violence and references of rape and child abuse

****Liz’s Review****

Something There In Between is the debut novel for S. Ferguson and I for one will read every book she writes here on out. This book was gripping, heartbreaking and oh so emotional. My heart barely survived.

Bree has endured so much. Feeling lost and alone, all she seems to feel is worthless. The way she saw herself was so devastating. Running from a past that haunts her, she is barely living. Still reeling from a loss that left her shattered and broken, she blames herself for what has happened to her in her life.

Declan saw the sad girl one day and knew he had found a kindred soul. He knew he wanted to help her, but saw the walls she built around herself. But he was determined, patient and kind. Just the right mix for someone like Bree. You cannot help but fall for Declan while reading.

Trust does not come easy to Bree and while getting to know Declan, she feared the worse. But he slowly broke down her defenses. He wanted to show her all she was worth and deserved. This was not just a love story between two people, but also about learning to love yourself and not giving up. Of having someone in your corner and not giving up on you.

I felt so much while reading this story. I was so captivated, I forgot the world around me while I read. Both Bree and Declan have not had an easy life and both are so flawed, but together, they are perfect. Their story was slow, but not in a bad way, in a way you fall in love with them and need to know what happens next.

Something There In Between by S Ferguson was an amazing 5-star read for me!

Worth-STIB Teaser 2.png

That does it for me.

The idea that someone is hurting her causes a rage I’ve only ever felt once before in my life to flow through my entire body. I clench my fists and decide now is the moment I confront her. Is there another asshole bothering her now? Did her douchebag ex make an appearance? I will fucking end whoever did this to her. I know without asking that Jake would have my back on that move. I’d be willing to bet money Ron would as well. It takes every ounce of strength I have, but I wait until the night is a little closer to being over before snatching her arm and pulling her through the doorway into the dark kitchen. I spin her around to the wall beside the doorway, leaning down so we’re face to face, eye to eye.

“You’re gonna tell me what the fuck is going on, and you’re gonna tell me right the fuck now. Is someone hurting you? Why are your knuckles all bruised? You been fighting?” I fire off everything at once, realizing I sound like a nagging girlfriend, but I need to know she’s okay. I NEED to get this off my chest.

Bree sighs deeply, her warm breath fanning across my neck, making me aware of our proximity. I have her pinned to the wall, my left hand is still gripping her shoulder, and my right hand is on the wall above her head. I’m being a bastard, and using my size to cage her in. I watch her closely for signs of fear, but she almost looks bored, and mostly just annoyed. I know she can still refuse to answer, but I’ll be damned if she gets away from me until I have my say.

She raises her eyes to give me an angry glare and I feel my dick twitch. Seeing fire in her eyes as opposed to the sadness they always carry makes her ten times hotter. Fuck, I’m an asshole. Something is seriously wrong with her, and I’m standing here getting turned on.

“I’ve just had a lot on my mind. I’ve been…training. You know exercising and punching a bag. That’s why my knuckles are bruised.” She raises an eyebrow at me, daring me to question her more. I smirk down at her…she has no idea who she’s messing with.

“You need to wear gloves then. You’re going to ruin your beautiful hands. You’re not actually sparring are you? ”I ask, my voice deeper than I intended. I’ve never been this close to her before, and my dick is currently trying to punch its way out of my zipper to reach her.

She glances down, and I have a moment of horror when I realize there is no way she’s going to miss my erection. I’m a healthy boy, and my jeans were already on the tight side. Her breath hitches, and she jerks her eyes back up to meet mine.

When I see the heat in her eyes, I swear I almost come in my pants like a teenager. Bree is fucking turned on by me. I can work with this. Letting go of her shoulder, I put my hand on the wall, completely closing her in, and lower my head towards hers.

“I don’t fool around with Ron’s guys,” she says softly, making no move to avoid my quickly approaching lips.

“Good thing I’m not one then,” I say, my mouth forming a smirk. I’m now so close to her lips I can feel their warmth on my own.

“YO BREE, where ya at?” I hear Jake yell from outside the door. His voice is like a splash of cold water, causing me to jerk back, and the moment is gone.

“My brother is an asshole,” I grumble, lowering my hands to adjust my erection, and backing further away from her.

“Your brother just stopped me from making a stupid mistake,” she says, before walking out of the door.

Type: Erotic Romance

Sexy, scintillating, and secretive, Intense Pleasure is the story of hidden desires and illicit romance. When danger threatens a woman, the two men who crave her, cannot live without her, will stop at nothing to protect her life… and satisfy every burning desire she has. They must stay bound together to be stronger than what hunts her, and let passion consume them…

Her name is Summer, as beautiful and occasionally fierce as her name suggests. Her past has just come back to haunt her, and suddenly she’s not sure who she can trust. Her longtime confidantes Falcone and Raeg seem to have Summer’s best interests at heart. . .but it’s clear that their desire for her still burns between them. Can they find a way to keep Summer safe—or will a bitter rivalry stand in their way?

Falcone and Raeg need to work together, now more than ever, if they intend to protect Summer from an old enemy who knows her dangerous secret. When Summer’s identity as a sweet, Southern socialite gets out, the two men must find a way to draw out the ruthless assassin on her trail. . .and keep their illicit romance with her under wraps. But some passions are so intense they can’t remain hidden.

I tried with Intense Pleasure, I really did. Ultimately this one did not work for me. My main issue wasn’t with the characters, but with the story anytime they were outside of the bedroom. Everyone knows I can get down with a threesome romance. Dare I say that I even crave them sometimes. Yet Intense Pleasure just didn’t hold my interest. I found myself skimming through the storyline anytime the three main characters weren’t on the page together. Maybe it’s because I haven’t read this series before and I’m not invested. Maybe it’s because I felt the heroine wasn’t a good fit for the story line she was trying to portray. Whatever it was…it didn’t work.

Summer is the heroine. She’s a southern belle who is trying to leave her life behind after a betrayal that has sent her reeling. Through trained to take down badies in any number of ways, she still has a feminine edge that often left me baffled. She can kill a man but needs you to be polite to her daddy at all times. She’s all hard edges, but her hair is long and lush and she’s very girly about it. She’s doesn’t like to cry, yet does it A LOT. I didn’t get it. At. All.

Falcone and Raeg (how the hell do you pronounce that by the way) are brothers who both have a thing for Summer. They follow her on her attempt to disappear because evil is closing in to take her down and apparently she’s trained but not trained enough to know that. They end up on her families land to protect her and while Falcone rolls with the punches, Raeg makes no attempt to try and play nice. Basically he’s an ass to her and her family at every turn and yet Summer wants to climb him like a jungle gym.

Since the two brother share women regularly there is no fighting over who gets her and they both spend time in the sheets with her between them. That was the only parts of the book that I enjoyed. Lora Leigh can write a threesome like no ones business. Otherwise, this one wasn’t for me.

I give Intense Pleasure by Lora Leigh 2 stars

Jade McGuire lives a double life. To the outside world, she is a well-put together art connoisseur with a good head on her shoulders. But in the privacy of a downtown DC apartment, she lives out every fantasy she has ever had. Twice over.

Strong and independent during the day, Jade kneels at the feet of her two Doms once the sun sets.

After a chance meeting at Ruby’s Lounge, Miles Jennings and Carson Dunn find themselves playing a very dangerous, albeit sexually fulfilling, game. And all bets are off when the goal is to win the girl.

Disarmed by Eva LeNoir, book #2 in the UCC Saga series, is an erotic romance that will leave you hot and bothered. These are standalone books highlighting a woman from a close group of friends in each book. This was my first book in the series and I was not at any point lost, however, I am intrigued enough to want to go back and read book one soon!

Jade McGuire controls her life and career, and is very successful at it. But at night, she is a submissive at the mercy of two Doms. Jade avoids relationships and emotions at all costs and finds being a submissive much more enjoyable and fulfilling. Who could ask for anything else?

Miles and Carson are very dominant alpha males (pun totally intended) and very clearly shows when they interact with Jade. The chemistry is dripping off the pages. But one of them wants more with Jade. But with her background, she avoids love and romance. Can she learn to open herself up to the possibilities of more?

Jade has always felt abandoned. She loves her mother very much, but her free spirited lifestyle left her very jaded (again, pun fully intended). Rather than allow herself to feel, she finds the Dom/sub relationship with two Doms allows her to keep all emotions in check. However, when one Dom pushing her limits, both physically and mentally, she finds her walls starting to chip.

When her personal life takes a turn for the worse, one of her Doms knows now is the time to show her how much they could have. If she would only let him in.

I loved reading Disarmed. I found it to be sexy and steamy, but also with emotional undertones that kept me drawn in. I am excited to read more from this author.

I give Disarmed by Eva LeNior 4-stars!

Seven years is a long time to wait to be with the one person you know you were meant to be with. My patience has reached its limit. Kenna McKenzie needs to be mine forever and I’m not waiting any longer. Fate has thrown too many obstacles in our path already. The sooner I permanently tie her to me, the better.

Join Derek, Kenna and all their friends for a wild and thrilling wedding weekend in Sin City. What happens in Vegas is supposed to stay in Vegas, but you never know who might be there…watching.

DELVE should be read prior to TIED in order to fully understand the storyline.

In this novella, following the end of Delve, we pick-up as Kenna and Derek head to Sin City to finally tie themselves to each other forever. And these two are as hot and steamy as they were in Delve! That one scene, wow!

I loved catching up with Derek, Kenna and all their friends, and then some. It was a nice surprise to get all the point of views, as they come together to celebrate their friend’s happily ever after. We catch up with Kenna and Derek, Janny and Kyle and get to see what Jacob has coming next!

This was a great, sexy, fun read. And, we get a little suspense thrown in as well! We all knew that certain someone would someday make an appearance with this group again. The suspense is killing me!

I cannot wait to see what is up next for Lana, with Zach making his moves and Josh and Elle! Jacob did a great job getting us ready and excited for what’s to come! And gave us such a sweet, tender, and sexy wedding for Derek and Kenna. A must read for fans of all the characters!

Tied by Jacob Chance was a 5-star read!

Screw him and his perfect stats.

Sinful smirk.

Delicious body.

Lincoln Landry probably even has game-winning stamina.

I’d like to screw her and her perfect ass.

Dangerous curves.

Sweet smile.

Danielle Ashley probably even has a game-changing personality.

There’s no denying the chemistry between them. It’s so fiery, it’s undeniable. They partake in it. Enjoy it.

They really enjoy it.

Attraction is not a problem. Nor is their banter, relationship status, or habits. That’s all fine. Perfect, actually.

The problem is as tangled up as their sheets.

A STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA Today Bestselling author Adriana Locke.

I was bound and determined to bust thru my TBR list for the last few weeks of 2016. However, an ARC from Adriana Locke put me off my game plan and totally made me fall in love. Lincoln Landry…my God. He is most definitely THE book boyfriend of the year. I read about him in Sway and was instantly drawn to him. I had no idea what I was getting into reading this book!!

Lincoln Landry is sexy, confident, and a true southern gentlemen. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to go out and get it. While rehabbing from a shoulder injury, he runs into Danielle and feels an instant attraction to her (and he knows she feels the same). Little did he know that Danielle would not be falling at his feet like so many other women which is definitely something Lincoln is not used to!

Danielle handled Lincoln much better than I ever would! She held her ground and didn’t drop to her knees like most women would. Dani knew the best option for her was to stay as far away from Lincoln as she possibly could. With the family she has, Dani knew exactly what dating a baseball player would entail and didn’t want that kind of life for herself. However, you know life just doesn’t work like that…

“Because you look exactly how I feel. Like when we aren’t together, the world is ending. Because if we aren’t together, maybe it has.”

(If this isn’t just the most swoon worthy quote, I don’t know what is)

The connection between Dani and Linc was instant and amazing. They have a crystal clear sexual chemistry and you knew when they got together, it was going to be unbelieveable. I’m here to tell you…it sure was. These Landry boys are just plain HOT. From the grape scene in Sway to the ice cube scene in Swing….I’m not quite sure how Adriana will top it in the next Landry book, but I sure as hell am looking forward to it.

There is so much more to Lincoln and Danielle but I want you to be as surprised and in love with this story as much as I was. Adriana Locke unquestionably hit a homerun with Swing!

This book was a perfect ending to my 2016. It is a great continuation of the Landry family’s story. If you read Sway (and you REALLY should if you haven’t) you have met all of the characters in the Landry family, and I have to say I love them all! The family getting together, sharing stories and all of the jokes, the banter between them all makes me long for a family like the Landry’s!

I give Swing by Adriana Locke 5 stars!

“Shh,” I hissed. “You have to be quiet. Collin can’t know you’re here. I didn’t tell him, and he might get pissed and kick you out.”

The small, pathetic whimper tugged at my heart, and I reached down to pick the squirming bundle of fur off my bedroom floor, tucking her close to my chest. “It’s okay,” I cooed to the puppy. “I’ll talk him around. Don’t worry.”

It probably would have been smart to discuss adopting a puppy with my roommate before I actually went to the SPCA and got him, but obviously, I wasn’t making the best decisions as of late. I still hadn’t been one hundred percent decided when I stopped by the shelter, but when I walked past her cage and saw her sad, lonely eyes staring up at me, I just couldn’t help myself. She looked how I felt. It was fate. I knew she was destined to be my puppy, so I didn’t hesitate. I adopted her right then. I just hoped Collin didn’t completely lose his shit when he finally discovered my little secret.

She whimpered again and stretched her neck out to lick the underside of my jaw. “You hungry, baby girl?” I giggled when her little puppy teeth started nipping at my chin. I placed her on the floor and pulled out the doggie bowl I’d just purchased — along with a shit ton of other puppy items — and dumped in a scoop of dog food. Picking up the matching water bowl, I stood and headed for the bedroom door. “Now you be quiet, okay? I need to go get you some water. I’ll be right back.”

I left the bedroom thinking that having a conversation with a dog like it was an actual person might mean I needed to get a life. I’d just filled the bowl full of water when the front door flew open so fast it crashed into the wall behind it, causing me to jump and slosh the contents of the bowl all down the front of my silk blouse.

A second later it slammed shut, followed by a loud, “Devon!”

“Jeez, will you relax,” I muttered, yanking a wad of paper towels off the holder to try and soak up some of the water that was falling down my front. “I’m right here.”

My eyes had been pointed down at my drenched top, so focused on my task that I hadn’t caught the fiery, determined expression on Collin’s face as he continued toward the kitchen until he was right on me. I let out a startled gasp when his hand suddenly shot into my line of sight, snatching the paper towels out of my grip.

“What the hell?” I blinked and looked up to find his face only inches from mine. My heart rate spiked at the close proximity. My skin began to tingle, and I stumbled back on my heels to try and create some distance. “What’s going on? What’s wrong?”

With every step I took back, he followed until I was pinned against the kitchen counter. Collin’s hands bracketed my hips, giving me no room for escape. His voice was gruff and rumbly as he declared, “This shit ends.” Then dipped his face so we were nose to nose and growled, “Today.”

The sudden burning sensation in my lungs alerted me to the fact that I’d been holding my breath. Pulling in some much-needed oxygen, I stuttered, “W-what?”

Collin ran the tip of his nose along mine and the sensation made my entire body melt. My knees threatened to buckle and my head went loopy. “Uh… w-what are y-you doing?”

“I’m sick and fucking tired of you freezing me out.”

Okay, well, those words were enough to chase the warm, gooey feeling in my belly away. I put my hands to his chest and pushed, but it was like trying to move a wall. “Collin—” I spoke in a low, warning tone.

Unfortunately, he didn’t care that I wanted him to step back. He wasn’t finished. And what he said next was a massive hit to that steel-reinforced wall I’d been working to build around myself. “I miss touching you.”

Well damn.

At the feel of his lips sliding along my cheek, my eyes fluttered closed. “I miss holding you whenever the hell I want,” he whispered against the shell of my ear, causing me to tremble. “You’ve been giving me the silent treatment for too goddamned long.”

“C-Collin…” That time I spoke his name in a completely different tone. Needy, pleading, almost desperate. “I don’t… what’s happening right now?”

I could have sworn his tongue darted out and flicked my earlobe. “What’s it feel like?”

Then the moment was broken by a sharp, yappy bark that was coming from my bedroom.

“Oh shit.”

Collin’s entire body jerked back. “The fuck was that?”

“Uh… Collin. It’s—”

Before I could get the words out, he was on the move, rounding the counter that separated the kitchen and living space, and heading down the hall toward my room. “Collin, wait,” I panted, chasing after him. “I can totally explain!”

He had the door thrown open as I hit the mouth of the hall, and I knew, by his reaction, he’d found the source of the noise when I was about two feet away.

“Holy fuck!” He stumbled back and hit the wall. “Jesus Christ! What the hell is that?!” he shouted, still moving backward along the wall. His terror-filled eyes were on my poor puppy as she trotted out and followed after him. “Shit! It’s moving! Devon, get me a broom or baseball bat or something to kill it with!”

“No!” I rushed down the rest of the hall and skirted past Collin, scooping my precious baby off the floor and holding her close. “Don’t you dare!”

“Jesus, Devon, don’t touch that thing! It could have rabies or something.”

My eyes narrowed in a vicious glare. “She doesn’t have rabies. And she’s not a thing. She’s a puppy.” I cuddled her trembling body close and tucked her under my chin. “And stop yelling. You’re scaring her.”

He stood frozen for several seconds before finally asking, “Are you kidding? That’s not a dog, Dev. That’s some sort of rodent.”

Holding on to my shaking dog with one arm, I reached out and punched Collin with the other. “She is not. She’s a cross between a Chihuahua and a Boston Terrier.”

His eyes got wide as he looked from my dog to me. “Bullshit!”

Okay, so he wasn’t completely off the mark. “The people at the animal shelter think she might have a little American Hairless Terrier in her, too.”

“The pound?” he asked incredulously. “You adopted this thing?”

“Stop calling her a thing,” I ground out. “Her name is Pogo.”

I smiled down at her when she reached up and licked my jaw again. “It’s because she looks like she’s bouncing on a pogo stick when she walks.”

I loved, just loved Devon in Opposites Attract. She was the perfect friend. Even then we could see how she affected Collin, even with all the ex-girlfriend issues!

Devon McMillon was strong, independent and very outspoken. She made no apologies for her she was. But finding a man who could accept her as is was proving to be difficult. Still, she had a heart of gold and was loyal until the end.

Collin just broke my heart sometimes. He fell and fell hard so early in life and truly believed she was the one and only. Then she ended things. He was a man used to be the caretaker in a relationship. Of being needed. And suddenly nobody needed him.

Devon was everything Collin never looked for or wanted from a woman. But sometimes you get just what you needed, not wanted! I just loved how loveable Collin was. He was such a good guy, you could not help but love him. And though I laughed so much while reading this, we also get romance and some very sexy, steamy scenes. The chemistry between these two was loud and clear. Even if at times my heart broke just a little. The balance in the story kept me drawn in. Just the right amount of humor, romance and sexiness!

I also loved how they came in as friends, respecting each other, but under it all, they just could not deny their attraction to each other. This was great ending to a such a sweet, funny, steamy series! We got the perfect closure for all the couples.

We only had one thing to offer each other – friendship.

A true, deep, incredible friendship.

Laughter fixed us.

Talking bonded us.

He quickly became my everything.

This is our story.

I can’t promise it’s always perfect.

It might make you laugh.

It might make you cry.

It might even make you Love.

**Contains Adult Themes – This book can be read as a standalone**

Bestie by Bella Jewel is about finding just what you need when you least expect it. Even when neither of you are looking for it.

Molly is heartbroken. Her boyfriend broke up with her and walked away without a backwards glance. With no explanation or concern for her. She questions herself, her choices and her self-worth. Lost and lonely, she has no idea what to do or how to begin healing.

Roman is currently going through his own loss and trying to find his way. Lost and broken, he is just barely moving forward.

Then one day they run into each other again and see a kindred soul in each other. Becoming best friends and learning to smile again, they begin to heal each other. Their friendship blooms as they get to know each other and find they can support and be there for each other. It was truly heartening seeing them become friends.

What I loved about this story is the raw emotions you feel when reading. You feel them coming off the pages and touching your heart. Love is never easy. Love is never what you expect. Finding that connection when you least expect it and not ready can be scary, but it’s what you do with that chance that matters.

Molly and Roman were not ready for each other, but their friendship allowed them to be open with each other in a way they could not have if they met any other way. When they realized there could be more, do they take a chance on what could be or keep what they have?

Molly was so lost and broken when the story began, but as she begins to heal with Roman’s help, you can see the strong woman she is. She begins to see what she her worth and what she deserves. She wants the same for Roman, but he finds it hard to let go of what hurts him most.

Roman just broke my heart. He was so heartbroken, he did not know how to move forward. And his indecision hurt their friendship, but through it all, they tried really hard to always be there for each other.

Bestie was both a heart-breaking and heartwarming story. The emotions are real and raw and will touch you deeply. A very emotional read, but so worth the ride.

Now she has nothing left, they lost everything, but her father needs her more than ever. What does she have left of worth? Her virginity. So, she decides to auction it to help her father.

Gabriel Miller is a man of means and always gets what he wants. He plays to win and his game is a very dark one. When he wins the auction, he owns Avery for a month and plans to enjoy every minute she is his. But what are his real intentions? What secrets does he hide? There is so much of Gabriel we just do not know.

I was so intrigued with the fight for control and all the twists and turns in this story. The games being played, the secrets, fear and heartbreak are felt every step of the way. I repeatedly held my breath waiting to see what would happen next.

The chemistry between Gabriel and Avery was off the charts. And even though Avery was on the naïve side, she could hold her own against him at times. And Gabriel. What can you say about him? He is the type of character you love…and hate.

This book was wonderfully written with surprises along the way that had me captivated. This dark romance was erotic and addicting. Just when you think you know what is happening, the author leaves you reeling. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I give The Pawn by Skye Warren 5-stars!

I once read that every warrior hoped an honorable death would find him. I always went looking for mine, but not even the Reaper wanted me. I was trained to kill. I was trained to not ask why. To take orders and just march in line. Hooah motherfucker. Life or death. Ride or die. And I’m not only talking about the military. I’m talking about the life that led me on the road to nowhere. My life. I fought for my brothers. I fought for my family. I fought for my country. And I fought for her… Never realizing I might die for them too.

There is a reason M. Robinson is known as the queen of angst. The raw emotions she instills in her readers while reading her books draw you in and never let you go. Her books stay with you for a long time. They are not just a love story, but stories about life. They are never easy, but worth every tear and laugh it draws out of you.

Creed Jameson is a broken man. My heart broke for him over and over. He is definitely not your typical hero, but one you will root for. He was born into a life he never asked for and lives with expectations and burdens that at times are too much to carry. The choices he makes hurt himself and those he loves. Fighting for his family, for his MC brothers, for his country, for her, he has seen things no man should have to bear.

I just loved Mia Ryder! She was something else. The daughter of Good ‘Ol Boy Lucas and Alex, she has some of the best and worse qualities from her extended family. Feisty, strong-minded and with some mouth on her, she always speaks her mind and follows her heart. Her heart leads to Creed.

Creed meets nine-year old Mia at eighteen. The little girl makes quite the impression and they form a very unlikely friendship through the years with their sporadic contact. Mia provides Creed something he never had before, someone who truly cares about him.

Throughout the story, we see how the life Creed leads takes it tolls on him. He does not believe he deserves anything good out of life. On the other hand, Mia is growing up, but struggling with very overprotective parents. She has a good life, but feels something is missing. All she wants is to be a normal girl for once.

We see how two people leading very different lives find a connection. One they may not understand at first, but know there is something there. Even as we see them living these separate lives, they find each other when they least expect it.

But in true M. style, their journey is not an easy one. Tragedy, loss and unexpected circumstances will stand in their way. I loved this book, even as it destroyed me. M. can do no wrong. I could not put this book down. That ending blew me away. So unexpected. Cannot wait for the next book.

I give Road To Nowhere by M. Robinson 5+ angst-filled stars!

Oliver Shrike thinks ahead. He likes to make lists and tick off boxes. He plans, he plots, and he’s got everything under control.

Until one day he sees my videos on his dating site. The private erotic videos I make just for him. When I’m looking at the camera I can practically see his face. Hear the internal arguments. Feel his desire.

Because I’m that kind of woman.

You should delete my videos, Oliver Shrike. It’s your job to keep that dating site on the up and up.

But you don’t, do you?

You watch them. You get off to them. You crave them.

Every week I make a new one with you in mind. I’ve got you addicted to my body, my moans, my secrets.

I’ve hooked you now, Mr. Match. You’ve been in control for way too long and this is where it ends. Mr. Match is the last book in the Mister Series. NOT a standalone book. PLEASE READ ALL

THE OTHERS FIRST. Mr. Perfect Mr. Romantic Mr. Corporate Mr. Mysterious Mr. Match

The end is here. Mr. Match by J.A. Huss was an amazing end to an even more amazing series. We would expect no less from J.A. Huss. This is why she is a must-read author for me. She weaves intricate tales with twists and turns that keep you guessing.

Not only do we get new amazing characters in this series, we also get to see some old favorites. Mr. Match is none other than Oliver Shrike, son of Spencer and Veronica Shrike. You do not need to read any other book, except the Misters, but for the authors fanatic fans (myself included) this was a great nod to loved characters.

Oliver Shrike was absolutely perfect. He was an alpha who was also romantic, but also a whole lot of sexy. And he has met his perfect match in Katya Kalashova, though she had many secrets. Could Oliver trust her? Even so, their chemistry had the sparks flying off the pages.

After walking away four years ago, without any warning, she is back in Colorado. She works to get his attention in a very unconventional way, but boy does she get his attention! But what are her motives? Secrets? Is Oliver a part of her plans?

This story had me so captivated, I forgot the world around me. All I wanted was to finish the book, but savor each and every word as well. After so many clues, twists and turns, we begin to get answers. And finally, we get all the Misters and their Mrs. working together.

This was an amazing series by J.A. Huss and one I would definitely recommend. Mr. Match tied it all together and leaves you feeling satisfied.

Mr. Match by J.A. Huss was an amazing 5-star read for me!

Is this love or just a game?

Tori Rivera thinks Jamie McCade is rude, arrogant, and worst of all . . . the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on. His reputation as a player is almost as legendary as his surfing skills. No matter how her body heats up when he’s around, she’s determined not to be another meaningless hookup.

Jamie McCade always gets what he wants. The sickest wave. The hottest women. And Tori, with her long legs and smart mouth, is definitely the hottest one. He knows Tori wants him-hell, most women do-but she won’t admit it. After months of chasing and one unforgettable kiss, it’s time for Jamie to raise the stakes.

Jamie promises that soon Tori won’t just want him in her bed, she’ll be begging for it-and he might be right. Somehow he’s found the spot in her heart that makes her open up like never before. But with all she knows about his past, can she really trust what’s happening between them? Is Jamie playing for keeps or just playing to win?

Tori Rivera is just trying to enjoy her life. After a horrible break up with a man whom she didn’t know was married, Tori is putting love on the back burner and is moving on with her life. Family, friends, a good job, a great house…what more does one need??

The one problem with all of it?

Jamie McCade. Surfer, sex on legs, and annoying as all hell.

Jamie is the man every man wants to be and the one every woman wants to sleep with (and probably has). But yet, Jamie has made it perfectly obvious to Tori, or “Legs” as he calls her, that he is more than interested in her and that he knows that she feels the same.

After months of chasing Tori, Jamie lays it all on the line. Either admit there is something going on between them and act on it or it’s time to move on. An accident between the two of them puts a bet on the table. Just exactly who will be begging who and how soon?

Tori is bound and determined it won’t be her running to Jamie but a confrontation with the ex-boyfriend has her doing just that. Can Jamie McCade, surfer and sex god make it all go away? Does she really want Jamie as much as he claims she does?

“I wanted everything. Her body, her mind, her sanity.”

I was not sure how I would feel about Tori but I ended up loving her character! She could dish it out as much as she could take it and I love how sassy she was. I adore the way she interacted with her family and her friends.

Jamie. There are just no words. In my eyes, ultimate book boyfriend. End of story.

Hit the Spot comes with a little drama, not too much, but enough to get you really invested in the book. This was such a fun and sexy book, I know when I re-read it I will get all the feels just like the first go around. I absolutely recommend this book. Even though it can be read as a stand alone, I highly suggested reading Four Letter Word also.

I give Hit the Spot (Dirty Deeds #2) by J. Daniels 5 stars!

Intended For Bristol by L.P. Dover (Second Chances #9)

Title: Intended for Bristol
Series: Second Chances
Author: L.P. Dover
Genre: Romantic Suspense

L. P. Dover’s tantalizing Second Chances series scores once again as the Carolina Cougars’ infamous bad boy takes a shot at seducing a driven career woman who’s supposed to be out of bounds.

Trying to live down his very public indiscretions, Carolina Cougars kicker Jaxon Reed feels like the most hated man in the NFL. Fans and teammates alike treat him with the disrespect he figures he deserves. Unfortunately for them, Jaxon’s no easy target. As payback, he sets his sights on the quarterback’s sister: a sultry brunette who’s curvy, confident, and sexy as hell. But what begins as a revenge fling turns into so much more—a lesson in humanity, and in love.

Bristol Thomas doesn’t have time for games, especially those played by her brother’s Neanderthal teammates. A talented interior designer with lofty goals, she doesn’t know the first thing about football, or Jaxon—except that he’s exactly the type of man she usually avoids. But when his deep laugh and deeper kisses break through her walls, she becomes the target of a fan who’s obsessed with Jaxon. Now she needs to know that Jaxon has her back . . . because he already has her heart.

**Intended for Bristol is an Interconnected Standalone in the Second Chances Series**

Hey,” I squealed, waving my hand in the air. I was so happy my brother would finally get to meet Jack.

He walked toward me with a smile, but when he caught sight of Jack, that smile turned into an all-out heated glare. “What the fuck are you doing here?” he growled, quickening his pace.

Jack froze and gripped my arm, grumbling, “Shit,” before pulling me around to face him. “Bristol, listen to me. This isn’t how I wanted you to find out.”

Everything was happening so fast, I didn’t know what to think. “Find out what?” I asked desperately.

Before he could reply, Ryan ripped me out of Jack’s hold and pushed him away. Jaw tense, Jack was ready to fight, but I couldn’t let that happen. “Ryan, stop!” I shouted, digging my nails in his shoulder.

Jerking his head around, he glared straight at me. “Do you even know who this cocksucker is? He’s playing you to get back at me.”

I threw my hands in the air. “What the hell are you talking about? How do you even know him?”

Jack’s eyes never left mine, the anguish on his face making me sicker by the second. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like what came out of Ryan’s mouth. He scoffed incredulously and spat

at Jack. “He’s Jaxon fucking Reed, the asshole on the team I’ve been telling you about. Don’t tell me you didn’t know?”

Jack stepped forward, but then again, that wasn’t his name. It was Jaxon Reed.

Even the resident bad boy sometimes deserves a second chance, right? Jaxon Reed has not been a good guy for some time. He has made decisions that have hurt others and set him apart from his team, the Carolina Cougars.

Frustrated, though he knows he has no one else to blame but himself, he deicides no one messes with him. To show his teammates he does not care, he goes after the sister of one his teammates. What he finds is totally unexpected.

Bristol Thomas knows all about her brother’s teammates and she is having none of it. Avoiding all things football, she knows better than to get involved with any of them. That is until the one player sets his eyes on her. She is drawn to Jaxon, even as she tells herself she knows better, he slowly begins to break down her walls.

I have to say Jaxon was not at the top of my list of heroes, but sometimes a person can surprise you. He is still Jaxon and he is not perfect. He was not always able to hold back his bad boy ways, but somehow Bristol was able to penetrate him in a way no one else ever did. Sometimes all it takes is the love from the right person to make you a better person. Bristol was that for Jaxon.

It was nice to see a bad boy change and fall in love. Bristol was the right match for him and seeing them together brought out a better person in Jaxon that allowed him to redeem himself and start letting others in. Like previous books in the series, there is a bit of a mystery as well that added to the story.

As mentioned by the author, Intended for Bristol by L.P. Dover is a part of a series, though each book is an interconnected standalone. You do not have to read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. There is some background on the hero Jaxon Reed, but you never feel at a lost when reading this book.

Overall I found this book an enjoyable second chance sport romance.

I give Intended for Bristol by L.P. Dover 3.5-stars!

Las Vegas Mafia boss, Nico Toscani, is used to getting what he wants, whether it is having the City of Sin under his rule or a beautiful woman in his bed. But when he meets his match in the gorgeous, headstrong Mia Cordano, the daughter of a rival crime lord, all bets are off. . . Sexy computer hacker, Mia, struggles to break free of her ruthless father’s Mafia ties…but she can’t resist the powerful and seductive Nico, who will stop at nothing to possess her. With their families locked in a brutal war for control of the city, Mia and Nico enter into a forbidden game. Will they surrender to the passion that burns between them—and risk tearing apart their families? Or will Nico be forced to betray the only woman who sets his blood on fire?

All I can say is merry early Christmas to me. I read Nico in one sitting, not because it was short (it wasn’t) or an easy read (it wasn’t that either), but because I.COULD.NOT.PUT.IT.DOWN. I don’t know how Sarah Castille did it, but she made me fall in love with a mob boss. She has a talent for taking larger than life heroes and making a romance with them seem attainable for any woman.

Mia Cordano is not just any woman. She is the daughter of Don Cordano, who heads one of the three most powerful mafia families in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for her, everything in her rebels against the mafia lifestyle. In her world, women are married solely for political reasons and family advantages. They are property, there only to look pretty, raise children and keep up a certain image. Mia grew up watching her mother turn a blind eye to the physical and verbal abuse her father heaped out. Disobeying meant a beating, and Mia suffered her share of those, until she finally broke free. After leaving home and working her way through college, Mia has taken her talent for computer hacking and turned it into a successful – and legitimate – business.

It is that business that puts her on mafia boss and casino owner Nico Toscani’s radar. Having been hired by Nico’s casino manager to test their cyber security, Mia is caught in the act as she was sneaking out of the control room during her hack. She is no

stranger to powerful, arrogant men, but when she is brought to Nico to face the music, she is caught completely off guard. Aside from being the sexiest and most compelling man she’s ever seen, Nico is someone she knows from her past. The son of a rival mafia family, Nico has grown into a powerful and successful mafia businessman that most people think twice about crossing. Ten years ago, a teenaged Nico showed her compassion and support in the face of one of her father’s tirades, and ended up losing his own father that same night.

What follows is a dangerous cat and mouse game in which Nico focuses solely on possessing Mia. She wants Nico, but his life and everything he stands for are what she’s been rebelling against her entire life. There is a blood feud between their two families that is a decade old, stemming from the murder of Nico’s father Don Toscani. Working for him is dangerous. Being seen with him even more so. Having an intimate relationship with Nico is treacherous and puts both of their lives at risk.

There was an attraction between them that goes beyond sexual, and neither of them were able to deny it, despite the danger. Nico was bossy and self-assured and sexy as all hell. The way he single-mindedly pursued Mia despite the obstacles….. sigh. He could no more resist her than he could stop breathing, and Mia’s independence was no match for his magnetism.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that Nico is everything you could want in a sexy romance. Mia was a kick-ass heroine who wasn’t afraid to give Nico shit. She wanted him as desperately as he wanted her, but she was not an easy conquest. I could FEEL how much Nico wanted her, and he was as irresistible to me as he was to Mia. There are twists and turns and secondary characters that bring some surprises to the plot, and the writing was excellent as usual. Ms. Castille is at the top of my auto-read list and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

I give Nico by Sarah Castille 5 stars!

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl. Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south. They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.

One Snowy Night is part of Jill Shalvis’ Heartbreaker Bay series. It’s a novella, which means it’s a (very) short story. It’s wonderful, but I wish it had been longer. Don’t be fooled into thinking you’re getting one hundred pages of Jill Shalvis goodness. The book actually ends two-thirds of the way in, and the rest is an excerpt from another book. I was more than slightly disappointed about that, but only because this author always leaves me wanting more, more, more.

Rory Andrews has not had an easy life. A disappointment to her family and with no real friends, she left home before graduating high school, desperate to get away. Unfortunately she learned quickly that life on her own could be even worse…until she was lucky enough to be “rescued” by Willa (from The Trouble with Mistletoe). Willa gives Rory a job, a place to stay and becomes someone she can count on. Now that she’s back on her feet, having earned her GED and adoring her job at Willa’s pet grooming shop, Rory decides to go home for the holidays. She is determined to show her family that she is not the screw-up who repeatedly let everyone down.

Unfortunately, getting home to her family means spending hours in the close confines of Max Stanton’s truck. Rory and Max share the same circle of friends, and Willa had arranged for Max to get Rory safely home. They also share a history from their hometown. In high school, Rory had a serious crush on Max, even though he was the popular jock who could have any girl he wanted, and Rory knew she wasn’t even on his radar. She’s not sure how they ended up in the same town, the same neighborhood, with the same friends years later, but she does her best to ignore the fact that her crush has evolved into an attraction for the all grown up Max.

Max remembers Rory from high school as the lonely troublemaker who ruined his chances at a basketball scholarship. Now, years later, she is on his radar for an entirely different reason: he wants her. He doesn’t want to want her, but he’s finding it more and more difficult to pretend he doesn’t feel the sexual pull between them.

Sharing a ride to Lake Tahoe with Rory isn’t on his top ten list of fun things to do, but as the snowy night closes in on them and they delve into not only their present lives, but their pasts, Max learns that everything he believed about high school Rory was wrong. And that gives him the push he needs to finally do something about the pesky attraction he feels for her.

I really liked both of these characters and wish this had been more than a novella. Jill Shalvis did a good job packing a full story into basically one night and giving Max and Rory their romantic journey to a happy ending.

I give One Snowy Night by Jill Shalvis 4 stars!

Max and Chloe had prepared themselves for a short trip to Aspen after celebrating Christmas in his Manhattan penthouse. It was the perfect opportunity to finalize their wedding details and get in a few runs on the snow-covered slopes. Being born and raised in Maine means Chloe’s no stranger to snow, but when a blizzard hits all their plans go awry. The result is something that will change both of their lives forever.

*****Review From Liz*****

I have to admit when I started reading this novella, I had not realized it was part of a series I had not yet read. Even so, it was an enjoyable holiday story of two people in love after their happily ever after.

Max and Chloe were in Aspen after the Christmas holiday to enjoy themselves and finalize plans for their upcoming wedding. They are happy and in love and looking forward to their future as husband and wife.

After this quick trip, Chloe planned a special surprise for Max to start the new year just right. That is until mother nature got in the way. Now stranded, can they find another way to celebrate the start of a new year? With the help of strangers they befriend that are also stranded, they find the perfect way to start the new year, even if it was not exactly what they planned.

Aside from this being a continuation of a series, this was really a fun, quick read of two people in love and living their happily ever after during the holidays. And though it could be read as a standalone, I know I want to go back and start the series from the beginning.

I give When The Clock Strikes Twelve by Elisabeth Grace 4-stars!

F*ck and chuck. Pump and dump. Hit it and quit it. One night stand. Didn’t matter how I branded it—that’s all she had wanted it to be. That much was clear when she left me with my pants down and my dick still out.

What she hadn’t counted on was fate intervening and our worlds colliding—again.

The day I showed back up in the life of Chloe Griffins, I knew I had to have her again. My body was hungry for another taste. Like an addict, I’d been craving another hit for months, and there she was—flesh and bone, tits and ass.

The fact that she worked for the competition should’ve been reason enough for me to leave her alone. I had a job to do that summer and f*cking Chloe wasn’t part of it. But I was like a man possessed.

I’d do whatever it took to have her again.

Ever wanted to fast forward to your happily ever after?

My name is Mackenzie Locke and I’m a loveaholic. I haven’t got a handle on men. Not even a little bit.

So I staged an intervention and booked me and my two best friends into Love Rehab, complete with a love shaman, horse therapy and a bunch of stones that promise to change my life. I’m not leaving until I’m cured.

Lesson #1: the first night of your stay, don’t have a one night stand with the hottest guy you’ve ever seen in your life.

Lesson #2: make sure your one night stand isn’t planning on sticking around, teasing you, tempting you right back into his Levis.

Big Fail.

Lesson #3: Whoops. I forgot this one. I was too busy daydreaming about Blake McKenna’s mouth on mine and the way his five o’clock shadow feels on my thighs.

Epic Fail.

So maybe I’m not the best student. Maybe I wasted my time and money on Love Rehab. But I can’t help that I want to spend every minute with Blake, naked under the stars. Perhaps he can teach me every lesson I ever needed to learn.

Mackenzie Locke is a love junkie. Be exactly what the man needs to fall in love with you then you will fall in love with him, right? That mentality has Mackenzie on marriage proposal number #3. However, when fiance #3 comes to the wedding dress shop, Mackenzie realizes something needs to change. Packing up her two best of friends, they head to Love Rehab where they are all determined to find out exactly what they need to do to meet their Prince Charming.

Blake McKenna is a smart, sexy man who is just looking for direction in his life. Returning to his family’s ranch to make some life altering decisions, he had no idea that Mackenzie was going to turn his life upside down.

Before the are confined to Love Rehab, a night at a local bar ends up in a sexy and incredible one night stand for Mackenzie, something that is totally out of character for her. And there is a reason for that…which she realizes the next morning at Love Rehab when Blake is there to help his sister run the camp for the next few days.

Soul searching leads some of the ladies in Love Rehab to come to terms with their mistakes before others. But when the shaman tells Mackenzie to stop looking for the love that is right in front of her face, will she realize who that is before it is too late? Will Blake finally tell Mackenzie how he feels about her? Where will Blake decide to go, Boston or Oklahoma City?

Love Rehab is a really fun and sexy read. I enjoyed Mackenzie and her road to realizing exactly what she needs in her life to make it full. It was enjoyable to read her transformation and how she realized she needed to go after what she wanted more than anything. When she finally knows who the shaman was talking about, what will she do to get him back?

I give Love Rehab by Louise Bay 5 stars!

Marissa Clarke was going to murder someone. And that someone was her former sorority sister—now former friend—who had just kicked her out of her own hotel room…in the middle of the night…at their friend’s wedding…for some hanky-panky with an old fling. So much for sisterhood. With no room in the inn and no place to stay, she’s forced to accept help from the last person she ever wanted to spend the night with again: Scott, devilishly handsome, smart, and her ex-fiance’s ex-best man.

Scott Parker has loved Marissa since the first day he bumped into her freshman year of college. Only he’d never been able to tell her. After all, you didn’t just grab your best friend’s girlfriend, kiss her and tell her she was the One for you, no matter how often he’d dreamed about it. Now, years later, Marissa is single and, in a moment of pure luck, staying at his cabin. When a winter storm blocks the roads and snows the two of them in, Scott is determined to make Marissa see there can be more between them than a shared history…if only she’ll let him.

I’m a sucker for a second chance romance book and Snowed In by Jenna Bayley-Burke is just that. This is the second book from the More Than Friends series, and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Marissa Clarke was just a freshman in college when Scott Parker saw her and fell hard for her. However, she was dating the star basketball player, who just so happened to be one of his teammates. The “one” for Scott was someone else’s girl. Fast forward a few years later when Scott watches his teammate and now groom-to-be break the heart of the girl he loves more than anything. Scott knew that Marissa was oblivious to her fiance’s cheating ways but knew he was damned if he told her, damned if he didn’t. Well, Scott didn’t tell her and the feud began.

Marissa Clarke is now an event planner helping to run one of her best friends’ wedding along with being the Maid of Honor. While there, she runs into a former college classmate Scott Parker and is very obviously trying to avoid him at all costs since he knew what exactly was going on with her ex-fiance.

Successful business owner Scott Parker has always held every girl to the standard of Marissa. Seeing her again after all this time at their friend’s’ wedding has brought up all his feeling for her once again.

After the wedding, Marissa is stranded without a hotel room and has only Scott to save her. After a massive snowstorm, they are Snowed In and both give in to the amazing chemistry they have together. Now they just have to figure out how they can be together while their lives lead them in different directions.

Snowed In was a charming tale of one person knowing they belong together and one person just figuring it out. The sexual tension between the two could have melted all the snow they were stranded in and the dirty talk….WOW!!!

I give Snowed In by Jenna Bayley-Burke 4 stars!

Are you just going to stand there and watch?

Eleanor Briggs just can’t help herself. Every night, the sight of the man in the high-rise across the street is driving her wild. She longs to feel his touch up close and personal. To win him over, she’ll need to shake off her wallflower sensibilities and become the seductress she never imagined she could be. The only trouble will be finding the perfect way to meet him…

Or are you going to join in?

Sex is easy for millionaire entrepreneur Trey Riordan. Finding something of substance, however, seems impossible. That is until a simple night of reading at a local coffee shop becomes something far steamier when a beautiful brunette comes by and leaves a note telling him to look out his bedroom window at midnight. But when the time comes, neither of them will be truly ready for what follows…

Have you ever passed someone on the street or seen them from afar and yearn instantly to know them? To find out what makes them tick? Perhaps find out if that body you know is hidden under that suit is something that can set your sheets on fire at night? Eleanor sure does. She promised her dying sister she would live. That she would love. That she’d have no regrets. Fulfilling that promise starts with finding out if the man in the building across from hers, the one who leaves his curtains open, can make her feel like the other women he has brought home. Because Eleanor watched and she loved every minute of it.

Trey never expected his sex hiatus to take such a drastic turn. One minute he’s trying to enjoy Pride and Prejudice and the next an extremely hot woman reading an erotic romance at a highbrow coffee shop is offering him a glimpse into her bedroom from across the street, Eleanor is everything Trey has ever wanted on the surface, but past that, can he accept the true woman underneath?

If voyeurism is your thing, Looking Inside by Beth Kery is most definitely for you. From Eleanor being a peeping tom, to putting on a show herself from afar, this entire book was hot, hot, hot! What I enjoyed most though was being witness to Eleanor coming out of her shell in the wake of her sisters death, and learning to embrace life with the vigor it deserves. Putting herself out there took a lot of courage, especially with a man like Trey who was self assured and knew what he wanted from the get go. Cracking that impenetrable shell with her sexy striptease and bringing a man like that to his knees is something she never thought herself capable of until now.

Both Trey and Eleanor were looking for something casual. A few sexy romps and then done. But Trey was fascinated by the different sides of Eleanor he witnessed and went about trying to figure her out. Was she the sexy woman in the coffee shop or the shy woman who seemed unsure where to go once her play acting was over? Their emotional connection surpasses the physical quickly as both realized something casual wasn’t going to work this time.

Eleanor spends a lot of the book worrying over the fact that Trey might find out she’s not the persona she’s portraying. She’s got a job in a museum, her clothes are all leftovers from her sister, even the apartment wasn’t hers. What she fails to see is that both of those personas make up the whole. I really enjoyed watching as that realization happened in smart bits throughout the book. It definitely made her feel more real to the reader. Aside from the high rise striptease, I also loved how wonderfully real the story line was too.

Beth Kery weaves her tales with heart and lots of hot sauce! Looking Inside is a voyeuristic love story sure to leave you wanting to peek inside just one more time!

I give Looking Inside by Beth Kery 4 stars!

At fifteen I fell in love. His name was Jake Stephens and he took the abandoned, lonely girl I had been and made me whole. His love was a pure and unconditional love that made every day better than the last…a fairy tale of my very own.

But this story isn’t about Jake. It’s about Abel Madden; the man I meet after the fairy tale goes to hell. A cocky, arrogant man who says what he wants, does as he pleases, and makes no excuses for it. He irritates me—downright pisses me off at times—but he also brings me back to life.

My name is Sidney Ellis and this is my story of finding love twice—the first when I needed it most and the second when I never saw it coming.

I don’t even know where to start. Collecting the Pieces is a story about love. First love, unconditional love and second chances at love all wrapped up in one heart-wrenching story.

Sidney Ellis was lost and alone for most of her life. All she ever wanted was love and a family, but life had a different plan for her. Then at fifteen she meets Jake Stephens and he literally sweeps her off her feet. With Jake, Sidney finds everything she ever wanted. They build a life together and really, things could not be more perfect. Until the night everything changes.

Now Sidney is starting over without the love of her life. Finding herself feeling lost and alone again, she knows she needs to find purpose and learn to live again. That is how she finds herself and her best friend, Rylee, starting a new life in a new place. Jake always encouraged her and believed in her, so she is determined to follow her dreams.

Come in Abel Madden. Abel makes her feel for the first time in three years. She is finally coming back to life and starts to feel and desire again. But Abel is nothing like Jake. Abel is a man used to getting what he wants, arrogant and cocky, he pushes all her buttons. Even as she wants him, she wants to slap him and run away as fast as she can in the opposite direction.

Abel did not have an easy life, however, he learned to stand on his own two feet and build a life for himself. A life he loves with no complications, until the day he first lays eyes on Sidney. He wants her, but is he the right man for her? He is not a romance and flowers kind of guy, the kind of guy he sees Sidney deserving.

This was such an interesting story. We meet Sidney early in life and feel the loss and loneliness of the circumstances that were out of her control. We see her connect and love her brother, even as he spirals out of control. And then see her find love and happiness with Jake, only to see her lose it all again. Their love was so strong and everlasting. When that kind of love is gone, can you find love again?

Once Sidney realizes she needs to learn to live again, she makes changes, but finds something very unexpected in Abel. He is everything Jake wasn’t, but is instantly drawn to him. The intensity she feels when he is around scares her. Abel on the other hand has never felt the connection he feels for her with any other woman. It leaves him wanting to run for the hills.

What happens when this kind of connections explodes around you and it’s the last thing you want? Sparks fly, that’s what. Add in some suspense surrounding their new home, some wild animals and new friends and you have a story you cannot put down.

The emotions run rampant while reading Collecting the Pieces. Definitely worth the ride, even as your heart breaks while reading, it will heal, after a few bumps. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this author.

I give Collecting the Pieces by L.A. Fiore 4-stars!

After eight seasons playing pro-football, Cooper Lowry knows all the right answers.

Is he stubborn, short-tempered, and impatient? Yes. Are jersey chasers more trouble than they’re worth? Absolutely. Has he ever imagined a life beyond the game? Nope.

Cooper has built an enviable career—the result of staying focused, working hard, and keeping his head on straight—even as his body takes the brunt. So when a hard hit during a Sunday home game leaves him in a dazed heap on the field, it’s nothing more than another day at the office. The only thing that’s different about this Sunday is a chance encounter with a certain fascinating, beautiful free-spirited woman. And some sternly-worded instructions from his coach to take a little time off and give his body the TLC it craves—before he does lasting damage.

Whitney Reed is a few months away from losing the organic fruit orchard she bought three years ago in the tiny town of Hotchkiss, Colorado. At the time, she was just looking for a place to get lost. Instead, she found a home, somewhere she could finally put down roots. Now foreclosure is knocking on her door—along with a grumpy, gorgeous football player who might be just what she never knew she needed.

Sometimes a straight contemporary romance is exactly what I need. They sneak up on me really. I generally don’t even pick them up on my own. I tend to gravitate toward the dark, the erotic, the paranormal. Sure, of course I’ve read other contemporary romances here and there. Some Jill Shalvis (LOVE HER) or Carly Phillips (ALSO LOVE HER) but it’s not a genre I usually crave. Yet when First Step Forward showed up and I read the back, I wanted to start it right away. Maybe it was just the right time to send it, maybe it was because I hadn’t read a straight contemporary in a while, but I think it had more to do with the phenomenal sounding story the back cover painted for me as a reader. In addition, this was also my first book by Liora Blake which probably also played a part in my curiosity since I’m always on the lookout for new or upcoming authors.

First Step Forward is, at its core, a story about accepting change and learning to open up to that change. Cooper Lowry is staring down change in the face. His career in pro football is slowly slipping out of his grasp after a series of injuries coupled with his age. Even though he knows all the correct answers to give in the game he doesn’t have any clue how to answer the question, “what comes next?”. After a particularly bad hit in a game, he finds himself sidelined and ordered to take a few days rest.  He ends up in the last place he expected, across the state looking for the woman he had a chance encounter with in a drug store who he hasn’t been able to get off his mind.

Struggling orchard owner, Whitney has run out of options. Her dream is going to be foreclosed on and the bank is going to take everything. Her life has been a series of bad events and decisions all leading up to this point. One bad season and her dream is gone. The only place she’s ever felt at home or felt she belonged. When the surly football player she met shows up at her front door asking for more of her canned apple butter, she’s shocked, and a bit leary. With the bank knocking down the door soon, Whitney knows now isn’t the time to become distracted. She just needs more time to find an investor in her dream. Cooper isn’t about to take no for an answer, and they soon find themselves in an unlikely relationship. One that’s about to be tested by life changing events and unspoken truths.

Loved, loved, loved this book! There was just something about the writing that drew me straight into the story from the get go. I understood Whitney’s need to belong, to feel at home and I loved her ambition to do it on her own. She could have very easily accepted Cooper’s offer for help early on, but pride kept her on the path she was already on. She was headstrong without being overly so. Determined and lovable in her quirky, hipster traits. She was a character who just seemed real. Even though they seemed radically different, Cooper and her just fit so well. Never once was it about the money he made or the life he lived. It was about him. What he wanted, who he really was, and Whitney go that from the beginning.

Cooper was so afraid of his career ending because he never had anything outside the game waiting for him. When he met Whitney everything changed. His priorities shifted.  He began to see that life outside the game could be just as good. Just different. Maybe even better. Sure, he made it a bit difficult on himself at first, but as the story progressed and his character grew, I knew he’d find his way in the end.

I didn’t like how long it took Whitney to wise up at the very end. Without spoiling the story, I will say it took way longer than I thought necessary to come to the conclusion that Cooper was it for her. I mean…weeks. And the author made it seem like she simply didn’t notice how long it had been. She was painted as a bit of a scatter brain at times but…WHAT? Not cool.

Overall, a great start to a series I will definitely be back for. Contemporary romance at its very best, heartfelt and light, something you start and cannot put down!

I give First Step Forward by Liora Blake 4.50 stars!

She’s ready for her close-up. . . .
Meagan Bishop gave up modeling after an ill-fated tryst with a sexy photographer left her career and heart in shambles. When that same sexy shutterbug makes a titillating offer to do a BDSM spread for his new photography book, she’s determined to refuse—until an anonymous blackmailer entices her to accept. Now her body is again at the whim of the man who broke her heart, and she’s finding his strong direction undeniably intriguing. . . .
Meagan is the muse Luke needs to make his shoot something special, even if it means keeping his hands off. But each new erotic scene they capture makes it harder  to ignore his need to command her in the bedroom as well as the studio.
As their sexual tension explodes, Meagan’s arrangement with her extortionist becomes more perilous, putting in danger her darkest secrets and the fragile passion between Luke and her. . .

The Exposure is book nine in Tara Sue Me’s erotic romance series, Submissive. By now in most series I’ve lost interest in the premise yet with this series I keep coming back for more. Maybe this is because the story line manages to stay the same yet vary widely from book to book. The author keeps reinventing the books with new characters, each bringing a steamy story to the mix while still delivering the core love story.

Meagan is many things in life, a successful businesswoman, a friend, a boss, an ex model, a submissive and a dominant depending on her mood. Yet she feels unfulfilled and has no idea what is missing. She seemingly has it all already. When Luke, a photographer from her past, bursts back into her life with an idea to revisit her modeling career she’s quick to shut him down. He’s the one who got away, the one who showed her the beauty in submission, the heart who broke her heart. His persistence seems intent on a lot more than simply securing her to model for his erotic photography book, he seems to want to secure her heart as well.

Years ago Luke made a very bad decision. He walked away from Meagan. Now she’s back in his life and he’s determined to convince her to stay with him. His success in the photography world and as a business owner has led to the realization that he’s missing something the rest of his friends have already found, a partner. The sweet gift of submission from the one who got away is something he’ll have to fight for because he’s not the only one who has Meagan in their line cross-hairs.

I really enjoyed the storyline The Exposure presented me with. Meagan was a complex character, both submissive and dominant who sparkled on the page as a woman who craved life yet had a hard time achieving her true desires. Be that in the BDSM world or in her personal life. Her true contentment may have come in submission but the only man to get her there was Luke, With Luke she could breathe easier and get out of her own way in other aspects of her life too. She felt free and able to think clearly on what her goals should ultimately be and how she wasn’t content in other areas of her life either.

Luke was your typical dominant man, short on patience, demanding and unbending. Yet when this should have annoyed me, I craved it. Loved it like Meagan most certainly did. He knew upfront the mistake he’d made letting her go the first time around and made amends accordingly this time. He didn’t make mistake after mistake until he finally got it. He knew his grievance, he set out to amend it. His talent as a photographer took a backseat to his need to make sure Meagan was taken care of.

The usage of photography is always a page scorcher for me. I love the idea of seeing life differently through a lens and felt the heat between the two flare brighter each time Luke picked up his camera. The subtle nuances that a camera can capture truly depict the person it’s trained on. The beauty in a snapshot can forever be admired and the feeling it evokes forever be felt each time someone sees it.

The only thing about this book I had an issue with was the build up throughout to who seemed to be stalking Meagan and making heinous threats against her. They built as the book progressed but I was a bit let down as to how it all ended. I wanted it to be more than it was… For that reason I dropped the rating a star. Otherwise The Exposure had everything I craved in an erotic romance.

I give The Exposure by Tara Sue Me 3.50 stars!

Carter Hastings was only supposed to be a fling,
A summer of fun, excitement, pleasure
And, it was…

It’s hard to walk away,
To leave the one man,
Who resuscitates me.

But I did.
He didn’t reciprocate my feelings.
He didn’t love me.
Not now.
Not ever.

Resuscitate Me by Leddy Harper was such an angst-filled read. It was a roller-coaster of a ride. The back and forth had me wanting to throw my e-reader. But, oh what a read it was, even as it drove me crazy, I could not put it down.

Kara is spending some time with family to offer a helping hand. But she has a life to go back too once the summer is over. While there, she meets Carter, the owner of the local gym. Carter grabs her attention, among other things, and does not let go. There were times she seemed weak and vulnerable and at others strong and confident.

Carter. What can you say about Carter? At times, I wanted to strangle him. Just reach in and strangle him. To say I did not like him while reading is a major understatement, but still I could not put the book down. I had to know what happened next. He is a total alpha male who oozes confidence and sexiness, but could be a real jerk.

Though I want to blame Carter, they were both so stubborn and neither wanted to give in. I found myself many times wondering how it would work out in the end. They were constantly back and forth with each other and though their sex scenes were hot, they were cold with each other just as many times.

But when they were together, they were hot and steamy. The chemistry between these two was instant and scorching. They started as friends with benefits, but how long can you keep feelings out of it? But what can come from it when its only temporary anyway?

This story had all the feels. My heart felt like it would explode at any minute. And I loved every word of it. I was captivated from start to finish. Definitely worth the read!

I give Resuscitate Me by Leddy Harper 4-stars!

It’s been a tough year for Beth Boone. She’s lost the person she cared about the most: her big sister. But Beth isn’t grieving alone. She’s now guardian to her sister’s three children and though she loves them fiercely, so far she’s not exactly winning at parenting. In this noisy, peanut-butter-everywhere chaos, there is no calm. None. So Beth has zero patience with the infuriating guy next door-not to mention his destruct-o “puppy”-wreaking more havoc in her life.

Except that Tripp Black is all muscles, deep brown eyes, and lips that promise way-too-delicious things. Every time Tripp and Beth confront each other, there’s an undercurrent of red-hot sexual tension, one that threatens to break down all her carefully constructed walls. She’s been burned before, and Tripp is a self-proclaimed bachelor for life. There’s no way that Beth’s too-hot-neighbor-from-hell could ever be the man for her-until their uncontrollable attraction becomes so much more . . .

Beth Boone is having a very rough year. She had to leave her home in Florida and is now the legal guardian of her nephew and two nieces after their parents die in a car accident. After this life altering event, her boyfriend then decides life with three kids is just not something he wants and leaves Beth. Life is just plain complicated for Beth and her neighbor Tripp’s dog has just pushed her over the edge.

Tripp Black is the town fire chief and a hot one at that! Trying to sleep after a long few days, his crazy neighbor Beth, comes banging on the door to confront his about his dog Duke. There is most definitely tension until Beth is clued in to exactly what Tripp has been dealing with as of late. A few baked goods make amends but everything changes between the two of them when Beth’s nephew is in trouble.

“Every time you touch me, or comfort me, I feel like I’m going to lose it.”

Beth and Tripp will steal your heart. Their relationship is not without issues but they work together to get thru it. Beth is amazing with the kids, giving them her all, although her 17 year old niece gives her nothing but trouble. Tripp also makes himself available to the kids and they become a family until a car accident throws everything for a loop. Can Beth and Tripp figure out how to make their relationship work? Can they be a family once again?

Uncontrollable is a fantastic story! I adored the characters, the plot and the emotions in this book. This is not a book about sex (although it was very HOT) but a book about a relationship between a man, a woman, and all the “baggage” that comes with her. The secondary characters were outstanding also. It really shows you that friends can become family.

Uncontrollable is book #6 in the series and can be read as a stand alone. I have never read Ms. Richard before but I will most definitely be adding all of the books in the Country Roads series to my TBR!

I give Uncontrollable (Country Roads #6) by Shannon Richard 4 stars!

Date Me is the first in a series of novellas by Logan Chance. This is the third book I have read by him and each one gets better and better.

Erik has no interest in attending his ex’s wedding and much less interest in an online dating app. But then he starts “talking” to Belinda via the app and finds a connection. He enjoys their conversations and finds he can share things with her he never has before.

Then he meets her roommate and the sparks fly. How did Erik go from no woman in his life to two very different women who affect him in to very different ways? Confused, he does not know what the right choice is, but he needs to make it before he gets in too deep.

I really enjoyed reading this novella and that twist! I did not see it coming! Definitely worth the read. I could not wait to see what would happen and if Erik would find that date in time! Read it to find out! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Date Me by Logan Chance was a 5-star read!

Logan Chance enjoys the simple things in life. Star Wars, music, and pretty girls. Always in trouble at school, he was made to copy the dictionary while the others played. This began his word fascination. With a love of words he then realized he loved stringing those same words together to create stories to inspire all. As a newly single mother, Carrie Farmer isn’t quite ready to jump back into the dating pool in Ardent Springs—especially since her last marriage was such a disaster. But if anyone could entice her to wade in a bit, it would be her hunky neighbor, Noah Winchester. He’s the perfect man: strong, protective, and smoking hot. But her eyes have deceived her before, and she’s no longer willing to hand over her heart so easily.

After completing several tours in the Middle East, Noah returns to his hometown a very different man. The former soldier’s plan to rest and relax is soon waylaid by the intriguing woman next door and her heart-stealing little girl. Something—or someone—put shadows in Carrie’s lovely eyes, and he’s determined to clear them away. But when hidden demons can no longer be ignored, the couple gets a reminder from an unexpected source that love truly can conquer all.

Her Hopes and Dreams tells the story of Carrie Farmer, a domestic abuse survivor and single mother. Carrie is trying to get a shelter built in her small Tennessee hometown as to help other abused women have a place to go when they decide to leave their situations.

Noah Winchester is a Army veteran who is recently discharged, trying to function with PTSD. Trying to lay low and deal with his problems on his own, he moves in next door to Carrie. Noah wants nothing to do with his neighbor until she comes banging on the door one night demanding he isn’t so loud as he keeps waking her baby.

Noah and Carrie had a very uncertain start to the beginning of the relationship. Noah was friends with Carrie’s husband, who just so happened to abuse his wife. Prior to knowing what Patch did, Noah was very unhappy with Carrie and let her know every chance he got. He thought she was sleeping around on her husband and that her little girl was probably not the daughter of the man he knew. Carrie was disgusted at the fact that Noah thought so little of her. When the two of them were thrown together working to build the shelter Carrie thought the town so desperately needed, all bets were off.

This book really tells the tale of two people finding themselves while falling in love with each other and what they both needed to heal. However, I did not like how quickly Carrie jumped right into the relationship with Noah. After all the nasty things he had said to her, it seemed her feelings toward him changed overnight. It was as though they were one big happy family almost immediately.

Her Hopes and Dreams is a book about PTSD and domestic abuse. In my opinion, it was just ok. I was a little put off by such a quick jump into the relationship and I felt the hero was just a little too rough for my liking. I did not read any of the other books in the series and I honestly don’t know that I will.

I give Her Hopes and Dreams (Ardent Springs #4) by Terri Osburn 3 stars!

Meet the complicated men behind the sexiest boy band in America! In Blow, the start of an emotionally charged series from bestselling author Heidi McLaughlin, an insatiable heartthrob gets blinded by the spotlight—and learns to fight for love.

Bodhi McKnight has always had everything handed to him on a silver platter: fame, success, money, girls. The raven-haired, blue-eyed hottie is the son of Hollywood A-listers, and when he’s asked to join the boy band Virtuous Paradox, his star shoots even higher. But so do expectations, leading Bodhi down a destructive path of addiction—until a drop-dead gorgeous guardian angel shows him her sizzling brand of tough love.

When Bodhi ends up in rehab, he doesn’t expect to meet someone as cool and down-to-earth as Kimberly Gordon. Although he’s enjoyed the company of beautiful, charming women before, none of them have tried to get to know the “real” Bodhi. But Kimberly isn’t fazed by his stardom. She’d rather go horseback riding, teach Bodhi to play guitar, or ask him about his feelings. Soon Bodhi realizes he’s fallen head over heels for her. He just hopes that he’s strong enough to protect what they have from all the pressures and temptations of the outside world.

Blow by Heidi McLaughlin is the first book in a series about the men in the boy band Virtuous Paradox, the hottest thing in Hollywood right now. The demands are endless and countless. The cost can be too high and for Bodhi McKnight they just might be.

Bodhi is the son of Hollywood legends and has had a very privilege life. He is currently living his dreams right now. His fame catapulted him into a life with demands that leave him exhausted. Turning to drugs, before he knows it, Bodhi is in too deep. After an intervention, he is now in rehab.

Kimberly Gordon takes her job seriously. She is there to help her patients recover and gives them her all. Then Bodhi McKnight walks through the doors. One look and she is taken by him. She tries to keep her distance, but for how long?

Now Bodhi and Kimberly find themselves together all the time as he heals and recovers. They form a friendship and get to know each other. The more time they spend together, the more they realize this could be more. But with their time counting down, can they survive all the influences they will face once he leaves?

I also enjoyed Bodhi’s inner dialog. It reflected on the struggles he was facing, the doubts, and worry about his choices and future. It allowed Kimberly to see the man. Faults and all. Kimberly fell for the man. But when she doubts herself frequently, should she follow her heart or her mind?

I enjoyed this story. It’s a story about finding second chances when life goes wrong and fighting for what you want. There were times I felt some issues were rushed or quickly glossed over, however, it was a good solid story. Though this was not my favorite book by this author, I liked the story and will read the next books in this series.

I give Blow by Heidi McLaughlin 4 stars!

Alonzo knows better than to let himself get involved with someone like Evangeline. She doesn’t deserve the type of danger that follows him, or the threat of his Amur leopard. But even with his lean muscle and iron will, Alonzo isn’t strong enough to stay away from the one woman who can make him feel at peace. And when their secret lives draw a mortal threat, Alonzo unleashes the feral passion he keeps pent up inside himself.

The Leopard People is one of my favorite series by Christine Feehan. The stories are often harsh and edgy, with alpha heroes primarily led by their violent leopards, but there’s something almost comforting about reading something and knowing what to expect from it. Leopard’s Fury was another great addition to the series, with one bonus: a heroine I absolutely loved.

Evangeline Tregre has distanced herself from the shifter world as much as she can. Her childhood in a Louisiana shifter lair was full of neglect and abuse. Left alone in the bayou to fend for herself, Evangeline learned early on to rely on her leopard to stay alive. She has always known she was a shifter, and has embraced her leopard while turning her back on the violence that went hand in hand with her leopard family.

Evangeline spends long hours working to make her bakery a success. She has few friends and no romantic prospects, but she is happy and in control of her life….until the morning Alonzo Massi shows up. He is very obviously leopard, but his fury doesn’t burn red hot like the leopards she grew up with. Evangeline secretly calls Alonzo the ice man because he is always in complete control, and never displays emotion. Despite his cold, aloof manner, Evangeline can’t deny the icy hot heat she sees in his eyes when he looks at her. Something about the gorgeous, strong, powerful leopard calls to her, and for the first time ever, a shifter calls to her leopard.

Alonzo Massi knows Evangeline is the woman for him the minute he sets eyes on her. Unable to deny his attraction to the beautiful bakery owner, Alonzo finds himself returning to her shop day after day despite his misgivings. Like Evangeline, he grew up surrounded by violence. Unlike her, he has not left that life behind. The brutal shifter way of life is prevalent for him, his family and associates, and he knows better than to expose Evangeline to that. Purity and goodness radiate from her and the last thing he wants to do is bring violence to her doorstep.

Both Evangeline and Alonzo underestimate the pull between their leopards. Once they recognize their mate in each other, there is no going back. Evangeline is reluctant to let Alonzo close, afraid of being drawn back into the vicious world of shifters she left behind. Alonzo has a price on his head, and his current associates invite more danger into his life. He doesn’t want to expose Evangeline to any of that, but he falls fast for her and is unable to leave her alone. Alonzo makes her feel alive, and Evangeline brings a measure of peace to his life that he has never had.

I loved Evangeline. Sometimes a heroine sneaks up on me and takes over a book, and that’s what she did in Leopard’s Fury. Alonzo was an easy hero to fall in love with, but she really made the book for me. The pacing of the story was great, and I loved the way I was able to witness Evangeline’s leopard emerging to be with Alonzo.

I give Leopard’s Fury by Christine Feehan 4 stars!

Every girl has had a broken heart.

Every girl knows love hurts.

Every girl has a story.

This is mine…

My name is Maggie May and I met him under a haze of purple lights. As cliché as it sounds he was tall, dark, and handsome as hell, and I had fireworks in my eyes…literally.

It was New Year’s Eve and beneath the magic of all that glitters and shines, I fell for him and his wicked ways. The way he moved, the way he touched me, the way he brought me to orgasm over and over.

You should know that I don’t believe in love. Fairytales and happily-ever-afters are never anything I’ve dreamed of…until him.

Something changed the moment our eyes met. It wasn’t insta-lust or insta-love, it was simply him and me, and the dance floor at our feet.

The problem is our story ended three days after it started.

But now he’s back.

And he says he’s sorry.

Can I believe him?

Do I want to believe him?

He calls me his bedwrecker…but what if he wrecks me?

Maggie is a woman who knows exactly what she wants. She succeeds at being in control of every part of her life and just does not believe in the knight with the white horse kind of fairy tale romance.

Keen is a workaholic, focused on his career and nothing more. Distractions are a waste of time and love is for fools.

New Year’s Eve in New York City brings a chance encounter and a connection that is off the charts HOT. Neither Maggie nor Keen ever gets attached to anything…but yet, there is something definitely between the two of them.

“I bet just like the song says, you wreck every man’s bed you’re in.”

After the promise of seeing each other again, Maggie and Keen text constantly, keeping that flame alive. Until Keen’s life takes a sudden turn and he has to make some serious changes. Maggie is in for a shock when Keen just literally drops off the face of the earth.

Keen has a come to Jesus moment with his brother and his best friend when they find him in Vegas after not hearing from him. Dragging him back to Laguna Beach, Keen thinks this is the perfect opportunity to tell Maggie just how sorry he is for all that has happened. However, Maggie doesn’t do second chances. Keen will not take no for an answer. He knows he needs to get his life together and wants Maggie to be part of it.

Now that Keen is running the company Maggie is working for, there is no hiding. Maggie is determined that she will not be hurt again but finds herself not being able to move on from their tryst back on New Year’s Eve. Maggie is avoiding Keen as much as she possibly can (along with avoiding her feelings for him) and Keen is bound and determined to get exactly what he wants, and that is Maggie.

Do they take the chance on each other? Should they put themselves out there all in the name of love? Is there really such a thing as a happy ending with the knight riding in on a white horse?

Bedwrecker is truly about going for “all or nothing” in a relationship. Maggie and Keen just had unbelievable chemistry. The sexual tension was…OMG…incredible! The sex was amazingly sensual, their banter was fun and these two characters had such an intense connection, they were easy to love. It really is a story of two strong personalities, two people who know what they thought they wanted out of life and it all changing right before their eyes. Keen and Maggie really are the perfect match for each other.

Bedwrecker is a fun, sassy and just an all around sexy story. I loved the story being told from both of their point of views. I have never read Kim Karr before but I will most definitely be reading more of her books!

I give Bedwrecker by Kim Karr 5 stars!

Baby, it’s cold outside . . .

‘Tis the night before Christmas Eve and Holly wishes she hadn’t volunteered to work the night shift. The weather is frightful and getting worse by the minute, and the same old annoying carols are blasting from the bookstore’s speakers. But Holly’s holiday spirit returns when the store’s sexy new assistant manager arrives to keep her company. He has muscled arms, baby blue eyes, and a sweet pair of lips she wouldn’t mind meeting under the mistletoe.

Sam is glad the snow is keeping away customers-it gives him a chance to get close to his favorite employee. Holly has always been a mystery to Sam, like a beautiful present he’d love to unwrap. When they’re trapped by a full-blown blizzard, Holly breaks into the Christmas cookie display. Sam busts out a bottle of vodka from the boss’s office. Soon the two are trading heated kisses-as well as secrets neither has ever felt safe enough to tell before. What started out as one naughty night together turns into something so much more.

Secretly crushing on each other from afar, Holly and Sam find themselves snowed in for the night at the bookstore they both work at. Sam and Holly have been checking each other out for months but were unsure of where each other stood. That is until the December 23rd blizzard comes along and they have nothing but time to bring the truth out of each of them.

After finally acknowledging their crush on each other, Sam and Holly use the time to talk, share their life stories and their deepest secrets. For some reason they both feel they can speak openly to each other without being judged. It was touching to see them both talk and listen without being criticized.

Both characters have family drama which is a good portion of this story. I enjoyed that there was a life lesson to this cute Christmas story and that Sam and Holly got their HEA.

Let it Snow was a sweet, quick and heartwarming read that will leave you happy. It is the perfect holiday read and will make you think about your family.

I give Let it Snow by Jeanette Grey 4 stars!

My marriage seemed perfect from the outside looking in.
People envied me. They wanted my life, wanted to be me.

Mrs Alejandra Gambino.
Wife of Dino Gambino. Daughter of Eduardo Castillo.
Respected. Loved. Mob royalty.

They had no idea of the horrors that lurked behind closed doors.
They didn’t know I was at the lowest point a person could reach.

Enter Julius Carter.
Aloof, handsome, blue-eyed Julius Carter.

He saved me.
I screwed him over.

Now everybody was after me. My life was forfeit.
It was only a matter of time. I was a dead woman walking.

The question was, who would get to me first?

This book has been a long-time coming. The wait at times unbearable. But now we have it. And what a wild, crazy, non-stop ride it was. Dirty by Belle Aurora was worth the wait.

First, I know we all want to know about Twitch and what happens now. And we do get some of that, but this is Julius’s book. Not to worry, we get Twitch, but not the way I am sure so many want and need. But it’s coming! And still, this was an amazing story.

We meet Alejandra Castillo, Ana, at 18, young, beautiful and innocent. Because of who her father is and family obligations, she is thrown into a situation outside her control. Years later, by all appearances, there is no luckier woman than her. But appearances can be deceiving.

Julius Carter, Twitch’s best friend and partner, moved forward with his life after the end of Raw. Ling and him are now working together and are very successful. Julius lives for his family and takes his responsibilities seriously. But one look at Alejandra and he is mesmerized. But he also has a job to do.

A decision was made; lives are forever changed and now Alejandra is running. She knows her life is forfeit, but is determined to make a run for it. Now everyone is determined to find her, but at what cost? Alejandra only knows this was her only one and only chance at escaping.

Alejandra and Julius’s journey is not in any way easy, but would you expect any less in a story from the Raw family of books? No. Enemies are found everywhere and dangers follow them constantly. How will they survive? Can they survive? Then throw in updates from Twitch and Ling and all her craziness and you have the story you have been waiting for!

There are so many twists and turns while reading Dirty. Some you get upfront, but others unfold as you read. I could not put this book down. I had to know what happens next. The story flows well and will keep you captivated from start to finish. You will not be disappointed.

And the epilogues. All of them. Wow! I am sure we will all be counting down to book 3. I know I will.

Dirty by Belle Aurora was an amazing 5-star read!

Rake is known for being up for anything, in and out of the bedroom. He’s wild, he’s deadly, yet quick with a joke or a stolen kiss. Known as the player of the WDMC, he loves women, the more the merrier. However, behind his womanizing façade, Rake hides the pain of losing his first love, Bailey. He hasn’t loved anyone since, and doesn’t think he ever will.

Seven years after their split, Rake and Bailey run into each other at the MC’s favorite club. Old wounds resurface, secrets are spilled…and passionate feelings are awakened. But they’ve each done things to hurt the other, hurt them too badly to get over it—haven’t they? Only when Bailey’s connection to Rake puts her in danger from another Club member does he realize that there’s nothing he won’t do to protect her—and claim her as his once again.

The Wind Dragons series is one of my favorite MC series that I’ve ever read. I  absolutely adore these tough men and the women who win their hearts. These men are tough as nails and skirt the edges of the law with ease. They don’t regret their actions and they will protect what and who they consider their with everything they have.

Rake is the club playboy. He does what he wants with who he wants and he never feels bad about it. He’s slept his way through a ton of women but he’s never let any of them into his life or his heart. Except for the one girl from his past who betrayed him. Yet now she’s back in his life and she’s hiding something he’s determined to unearth.

There were times I wanted to smack Rake upside his stupid head. He treats Bailey very badly when she walks back into his life, unknowing of her private pain and past. Sure, that gives him a “sort of” excuse to be a dick, I mean, he didn’t know and all that, but still…he’s a grade A asshole to her. The more time he spends with her, the more he starts to feel like his teenage self, addicted to just the sight of her.

Bailey has spent a long time getting over her past and learning to raise her child on her own, with the help of very few people she’s let in. The last thing she needs is resurfacing feelings from her teenage years. I really enjoyed her backbone and her ability to deal with Rake without losing herself in him completely.

Chantel Fernando weaves magic with seeming ease. Yet another winning MC romance with this reader!

I give Rake’s Redemption by Chantel Fernando 4 stars!

A gorgeous rock star. An indecent proposal. How can a girl resist? Struggling barista Katie Bloom doesn’t even know who Jesse Mayes is until she inadvertently wins the coveted role of sex kitten in his hot new music video. But by the time she’s in bed with him, she knows his reputation. Love maker. Heartbreaker. Making out with a stranger in front of a camera crew isn’t how Katie imagined herself getting over a broken heart, but when Jesse touches her, sparks fly. The sex is fake but the chemistry is real, and soon the steamy video is blazing up the charts. Then Jesse makes Katie an irresistible offer: act as his girlfriend for six weeks while he promotes his new album. The only catch? Their sizzling make-out sessions will be for the cameras only. Which is fine with Katie, since she’s not about to trust her heart to rock’s most legendary lover. Her body? Maybe…

Dirty Like Me by Jaine Diamond was good, light read, with a lot of steaminess and great banter between the hero and heroine. A new to me author, but one I would definitely read again.

Katie Bloom is ready to change her life. Coming out of her previous relationship with a broken heart and finding herself at crossroads, she is ready to move forward. But she never saw how she was going to achieve those changing coming! I loved her personality. She was just the kind of person everyone liked, even as she never saw herself that way.

Jesse Mayes is a famous Rockstar for the band Dirty, with the reputation of one as well. When he meets Katie, she makes an unforgettable impression on him.

When these two meet, the sparks fly. Jesse is hit with an idea to help him promote his new album. He gives Katie an offer she cannot refuse. Go on tour with him and pretend to be his girlfriend, but only for the cameras. What can go wrong?

The story was a fun, quick, easy read. I loved all the characters and the enjoyed a lot of laugh with all the bantering. The story was not original, but it flowed well and kept me interested to see what would happen next. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

I give Dirty Like Me by Jaine Diamond 4-stars!

He can’t change who he is…

A horrific childhood has made Silas the man he is today: dangerous, distrustful, and demanding. He’s lived in self-imposed solitude, convinced that no woman could ever accept his need for absolute control—in business and pleasure. That is, until a young violinist walks into one of his buildings and into his life.

She can’t change what she wants…

Haley has been struggling to fulfill her father’s dying wish: to attend a prestigious music school in New York City. But even working two jobs, she can’t afford the tiniest of apartments. Seeing her hopeless and near tears, Silas vows to help and protect her, no matter the cost to himself. But when Haley meets his every demand with unwavering acceptance and love, he is overwhelmed by her goodness and gentle spirit. He knows that the dark stain on his soul can never be erased—and rather than risk destroying the most beautiful thing he’s ever experienced, he knows he’ll have to do the hardest thing he’s ever had to face. Let her go. But he’s totally unprepared for the lengths Haley will go to fight for his love and a future brighter than the sun…

Kept was a surprising roller coaster ride of emotions that had me wrung out by the end! Banks definitely had me going through the gauntlet with this one. I found myself amused, distraught and annoyed within the span of a few chapters. As always, Banks weaves a tale full of redemption. Silas believes himself to be damaged goods, unworthy of love. When Haley barges into his life with her innate goodness and gentleness, he finds it difficult to continuously push her away.  He doesn’t make it easy on her, he tests her limits and demands nothing short of perfection, yet she takes it all in stride and he finds himself falling for her despite his reservations. Since he’s been a solitary person, save for his band of brothers, he finds letting her into his life hard but she slowly gets him to open up about his difficult past. He blunders along the way but more than makes up for it in the end.

Haley was one of those characters you just have to like. Not naive but hopeful in a way that makes her sunny disposition despite her odds enjoyable. She was determined yet not headstrong or bitchy. The woman could give as good as she got but not in a way that made her come off as rude or annoying. Even though Silas took every opportunity to confuse her with his hot and coldness, she never lost her edge or her zest for the life she knew she deserved. I loved that about her. Her unyielding loyalty and goodness.

Dare I say how much I’m loving this series? I don’t want to jinx it, but damn, this had everything I’m looking for! I can’t wait for more!

I give Kept by Maya Banks 4 stars!

I have been reading Corinne Michaels since her first release and with each book you see why she is such an amazing writer. Her words pull you in and just captivate you. Her words filled me with hope, broke my heart and then left me with a heart full of love. Her writing gives so much to her readers. The emotions she evokes from her readers are felt with every turn of the page. Say You Want Me is no different.

In Say You Want Me we get Wyatt Hennington in all his glory. He is the guy everyone can count on. He is the first one there and the last one standing when you need his help. The only woman he ever loved, loved another. But nothing could get him down. He enjoys the company of woman. He never makes promises, but gives them memorable nights. He is happy and content. Or so he thought.

Angie loves her life. She has everything a woman could want. She is happy. She has a successful business. Dates men, because really, who wants to be tied down to one? Loves city life. She would not change a single thing. What else could she ask for, right?

But while visiting her best friend and ex-sister-in-law in her new home and life, Angie meets Wyatt and the attraction is mutual and off the charts. Both enjoying life, give in and have a couple of fun nights. But after leaving her after one of those nights without so much as a goodbye, Angie decides she is done. Until a little surprise changes her life forever.

And so begins the courtship of Wyatt and Angie, which is one you need to read to experience. This book in many ways is so different than Say You’ll Stay, however, it still wrings emotions and angst, just in a very different way.

Wyatt and Angie’s story is a very emotional one, but it also has some very lighthearted moments. Watching these two get to know each other is both enjoyable and in some moments, very hilarious laugh out loud moments. But it is also very sweet and tender.

I enjoyed watching them interact with each other and their family and friends. Though life through them quite the curveball, they are trying to make the best of it. But what happens when another, very unexpected curveball is thrown their way? Can they survive? Do they really want the same things?

This was in a way a story about second chances at life. What do you do when you get what you never knew you wanted? And how two people can be meant for each other even when it seems everything around you is disagreeing. Say You Want Me was an emotional, sweet love story worth reading.

Say You Want Me from Corinne Michael was a 5-star read!

STEPSISTER. He hated that f*cking word.

When their parents got married, the only thing Caleb Luxan had in common with Wren Brashill was that they both hated their parents. When he was sixteen, Caleb discovered Wren’s closely guarded secret and vowed to protect her: from that day forward she became the reason for every decision he made.

Jealousy and long-suppressed desire overpowered Caleb’s fierce protectiveness and they spent one forbidden and unforgettable night in each other arms, but the aftermath left Caleb panicked, Wren heartbroken, and their relationship in shambles. In the time since that fateful night, he’d only seen her once and had only managed to make the situation even worse.

The sudden death of his estranged father calls Caleb home and face-to-face with Wren for first time in years. He is presented with a choice that forces him to confront the painful memories of his youth and his many regrets with Wren.

Like it or not, his father’s last, hard lesson, will demand Caleb deal with his long denied emotions for Wren, or let go of her forever.

Bare chested muscular man looking down on dark background.

One Step Closer by Kahlen Aymes is a second chance romance between two people who found themselves thrown together when their parents married. Though neither were prepared to feel anything for each other, they formed a bond neither expected.

Caleb Luxan wanted nothing to do with his new stepmom or her daughter. He was angry, hurt and alone since he lost his mother. He found himself doing everything he could to get under his father’s skin. Until the day he found out Wren’s secret. Then he became her protector. Every choice he made after that was with her in mind. Until that fateful night that changed everything.

Wren Brashill has always felt alone with no one to love or guide her, she found herself hiding from the world. Until Caleb. Somehow he found a way to get her to open up. He became her protector and she started to blossom. He gave her hope. Until the night that changed everything.

Caleb wanted to follow his dreams, but also wanted to protect Wren. Because of this he found himself not being able to do the one thing he wanted most, be with Wren. Wren wanted Caleb, but never thought he would see her as more than is sister. Until the night they give in to each other. A night neither of them will forget.

But with morning comes awareness of what this could mean. Mistakes, misunderstandings and the actions of other’s cause the couple to spiral and spend the next four years with distance from each other.

Now his father is gone and he is needed at home. What will happen when he comes face-to-face with Wren again? With his father’s final demand, will Caleb finally give in or continue protecting Wren, even from himself?

I really enjoyed seeing Wren and Caleb both in the present and in their flashbacks. We were able to really see how their friendship blossomed and became more. We also got to see where things started to go bad for them. Sometimes all it takes is one bad decision and life tumbles around you. This is kind of what happened between these two. Add in their selfish parents and one catty “girlfriend” and your world can really turn upside down.

I really enjoyed this story. There were many instances I wanted to strangle Caleb and Wren, but sometimes it can take a while before you see what has always been in front of you. The story had a bit of angst and a lot of emotions! But when you are fighting for what you truly want and desire, it does not always come easy.

I give One Step Closer by Kahlen Aymes 4 stars!

Caleb’s muscled frame was rigid and as Wren looked at him, she studied his profile, and could feel his coiled tension.  The fingers in his right hand curled into a fist.  “I was so mad.  So many times, I wished he’d been the one to die.”  His voice was full of pain, as the words tore from him.  “I fucking hated him with every breath I took.  You saw how much.”

Wren nodded, though he didn’t see her acquiescence.  She knew what he went through growing up when they had formed an affable alliance against their parents.  She hated her mother at least as much as Caleb hated his father and she understood his anger and pain; then the apathy that became a welcome alternative.  They’d been unlikely allies against a common enemy.

“Maybe I deserved his indifference.”

Wren got up and went to Caleb, standing behind him as he stood still as stone, and staring out the window.  Her heart ached with love and grief for Caleb. She wanted to touch him; to offer reassurance, to take away the ache in his voice and heart.  Without considering her actions, her arms slipped around his waist and she pressed up against his strong back and leaned her head against him, between his shoulder blades.

Caleb was massive in comparison to her, and she was like a flower curling around him.  Her hands fanned out against his hard stomach, her fingers finding the definition of his abs beneath his shirt.   “Stop, Cale.  I won’t let you do this to yourself.  Your dad wouldn’t want that.  None of it was your fault.”  Her arms slid fully around him and held him tight against her body. “I can’t bear it.  You’ve had enough pain.  Enough.”

Caleb sucked in a deep breath, the action bringing her even closer.  He could feel every curve of her body pressed so closely against his back.  He could feel her breathing, could feel how she shared his pain.  His hand came up and he ran the flat of his hand from her elbow down to her hand, and then wrapped his fingers around hers.

“When did you turn into the strong one?”

Wren’s arms tightened around him.  “When I met you. ”

“Oh, Wren.” Should he just spill his guts? Would it fix everything?  “I’ve got so much to say to you.  How long can you stay?”

She nodded against him, unwilling to end the contact between their bodies; needing the closeness as much as he did.

He wanted to apologize for how he acted the last time he’d seen her, he wanted to say a hundred things… he needed her forgiveness.

“How long do you need me?”

In that moment a miracle happened; a sort of beautiful irony that taunted Caleb with it’s fragileness.  It was as if he’d never screwed everything up between them.  But would it stay this way?

How long do I need you? Caleb thought.  His heart raced to the point of exploding, and he wondered if Wren could feel it.

Lady Rose Thornton never expected to find a half-naked man in her garden. The handsome Irishman claims to be the Earl of Ashton, but was he truly robbed by thieves? Or is he merely an impoverished stranger lying to her?

After losing everything during the potato famine, Iain Donovan is searching for a wife whose dowry will save his estate. Lady Rose is beautiful, witty, and unable to walk, after an illness stole her strength. Rose agrees to help Iain find a wife, if he will help her learn to take her first steps.

As their friendship takes root and blossoms into something more, secrets about Iain’s birthright threaten the growing feelings between them. He has no right to love a woman like Rose, who deserves a better life than he can give her. Rose believes that there is more to Iain than a broken past, and she brings light to his shadows.

And within the walls of a secret garden, sometimes miracles can happen.

Oh, how I love to discover a new to me author who has an entire backlog of books I can look forward to reading. Michelle Willingham has been on my radar for some time, but I haven’t gotten around to any of her books until now. Good Earls Don’t Lie had everything you could want in an historical romance: emotion, humor and likable characters you will be rooting for.

The book opens with Iain Donovan in quite a predicament. The Earl of Ashton is alone, without his carriage, his horses, his servants, his possessions and even most of his clothes. Dressed in nothing but a pair of trousers, he comes to after being knocked out and robbed upon his arrival in England. On his way to visit an old family friend whom he hopes can help him find a rich heiress to wed, Iain has nothing on his person to prove his identity. He has no choice but to continue on to Lady Wolcroft’s estate and hope they will have mercy on a half-clothed stranger.

Unfortunately Lady Wolcroft is not in residence. Iain surprises her granddaughter, Lady Rose, in the garden and tries to plead his case. He knows it looks suspicious, claiming to be an earl without even the clothes on his back, and Rose is rightfully skeptical. Something about the Irishman intrigues her, but she knows his story is probably just that – a story. Compassion and curiosity win out over her good sense, and she ends up giving him food and shelter for the night.

One night turns into two, and soon Iain has convinced Rose and her family to allow him to stay until her grandmother returns. Iain no longer has the letter Lady Wolcroft had sent him inviting him to her estate, but he has since recovered some of his belongings from the lad who stole them. His late brother’s signet ring is all the proof Lady Rose needs to believe in his story. While she is convinced her heart belongs to another, Iain offers her two things she desperately wants: friendship and his promise to help her learn to walk again.

Six months ago Rose fell ill and temporary paralysis robbed her of the ability to walk. She has slowly been gaining strength in her legs, but refuses to return to London until she can walk again. Rose is convinced no man will want a cripple for a wife, and she dreams of the day when she can walk into a ballroom and face her former suitor as a whole woman. Her plan goes awry when she develops deepening feelings for the earl. The more time they spend together, the more he comes to mean to her, despite the obstacles preventing a future between them.

In exchange for his assistance in her quest to walk, Rose promises to help Iain find an heiress to wed. He is desperate. Ireland is in the midst of a terrible famine and the people of Ashton are suffering. Those that haven’t succumbed to sickness or starvation have left, and it has fallen to Iain to save his people. His only hope is to marry a woman with a dowry large enough to bring Ashton out of poverty. He doesn’t count on falling in love with the one woman he can’t have. He would never wish the terrible life in Ireland on someone like Rose, but he can’t imagine a future without her in it.

I loved Rose and Iain. The depiction of her as a woman who longs to feel whole again was done perfectly without a lot of “woe is me” dialogue. Her determination and strength were admirable, and it was very easy to see why Iain quickly became taken with her. The struggle he faced between having to do the right thing and wanting to follow his heart felt so real, and I loved when he finally admitted to himself and to Rose that she was the only woman for him.

Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…

1. She works with me every single day.

Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?

2. She works in my home.

Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…

3. She’s the nanny.

And that makes her completely off-limits… But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.

The other nannies in this city don’t call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.

I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more… can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…

Yes! Yes! Yes! God bless Lauren Blakely! Lauren can combine a sweet, quick and sexy story like it’s nobody’s business! Simon, the single dad, is about to steal your heart!

Simon is a single father who is quite possibly the best dad in the entire world (next to my husband, of course). Simon does absolutely everything with the intent of being accessible to his daughter. This even includes being cordial with his ex, who cheated on him, to make life easy for his little girl. And if that doesn’t make him swoon worthy, I don’t know what will!

Abby is the nanny. The hot, young nanny who Simon just can’t get enough of. Abby thoroughly enjoys her job and takes it very serious, which is why she knows that a relationship with the man that has absolutely captured her heart won’t work. She knows what everyone will say about the Sexy One and his nanny!

Abby and Simon work together incredibly well as a team. The both know what they shouldn’t do..but that doesn’t mean they will listen. The attraction between them is amazing. Lauren never ceases to amaze me in the way she can just bring you right into the every step of the relationship and feel exactly what the couple is going through.

I enjoyed this story as it was a quick, romantic, and amazingly sexy read with no drama to it. Sure there are a few conflicts, but it didn’t have the angst that most stories do. If you are looking for a lovely, entertaining book that you can read in an afternoon, this is the one to read.

Bring on the next Lauren Blakely hottie!

I give The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely five stars!

My world was rock solid.

Until I saw her.

Lara Kessler showed up as if heaven sent her to me, and suddenly my priorities changed. Love is funny like that. One minute you’re living the dream, then BAM! Half my soul shows up backstage wearing a purple shirt and sexy skin-tight jeans, making me realize what I’ve been missing all along. Loving her means exposing a life I’ve tried to bury.

My heart had lost its beat.

Until I saw him.

Kaz Fabian caught my attention the moment I laid eyes on him. Love is funny like that. The famous guitarist was every woman’s fantasy–great face, chiseled jaw, cut biceps. The rock star was pure sex on and off stage, but his charm and charisma won me over. Loving him means burdening him with a life I’ve tried to leave behind.

With her future dim and his past in the spotlight, can they overcome their fate or will they just be another tragic love story?

The boys of The Resistance are back. This time S.L. Scott gives us Kaz’s story in The Revolution, the new standalone in her Hard to Resist series. Kaz is a recent addition to The Resistance and was very excited about the opportunity. Ready to keep his past a secret and move forward with one of best bands in the world, Kaz has the world at his feet.

Lara Kessler has fantasized about Kaz Fabian, the famous guitarist, since she first saw him. What is there not to love? Famous, gorgeous, charming…the list goes on and on.

Their timing has been off since they first met, but with recent changes in their current situation, has their time finally come? As they spend time together and get to know each other, sparks flies and their connection becomes stronger.

But when you get involved with the rich and famous, eyes are always on you and the consequences can be detrimental. With the secrets they keep, can their love survive? What will happen once the secrets are revealed and start unraveling their lives?

I loved Kaz. He was sweet and honest and stands by the people he cares about, even if it means hurting himself in the process. He was strong, sexy and so very caring. It was not hard to fall for him. Lara started out weak and cautious, but as you get to know her, you understand why. But as she spends time with Kaz and begins to believe in herself, we see her start to grow stronger and more determined.

It was great to see how two people who love each other can stand by each other and grow, even when they have both been hurt deeply in the past by those who said they loved them. But is love enough to carry the through all that is about to come their way?

There is so much more I want say about this story, but do not want to give it away. It is the kind of story you have to experience. Just know S.L. Scott treated the subject matter with honesty and insight.

I have truly enjoyed all the work I have read by S.L. Scott and she did not disappoint in The Revolution. This was a great story about overcoming hurt, pain and loss, but also of love, support and fighting for what you want. A great read that will touch your heart.

I give The Revolution by S.L. Scott 5-stars!

“You confound me. You’re all these maddening contradictions that don’t make any sense… And I can’t get enough of your special brand of beautiful crazy.”

She’s a rocker with attitude and ink…

He’s a sexy suit who gets what he wants

Kevan Landry is trying to keep her life on track and her brother in rehab. If her fledgling marketing firm can sign the hot new band, Manix Curse, it will make a world of difference. Mason Dillon heads the most successful music PR firm in Portland. He’s desperate to breathe new life into the company by signing Manix Curse.

The last thing either one needs is a one-night stand with a smoldering stranger…

The stakes are high when a battle for the band-in the bedroom and the boardroom-becomes a battle of the heart. But if these two can set aside their differences, they may find they’re the right mix of sexy savvy to conquer both their worlds.

Kevan is a confident woman who is trying desperately to keep her struggling marketing firm afloat. After firing her terrible assistant, Kevan is bound and determined to sign an up and coming band which will revitalize her business and help fund her brother’s rehab stint.

Mason is the CEO of the most successful PR firm but is on the verge of losing his job due to low performance. He is trying to expand the company’s reach into metal and is trying to sign the same band as Kevan.

After a one night stand, and yes, you guessed it, both vying to sign the same band, Kevan and Mason realize they will have to spend quite a bit of time together. Both Kevan and Mason sign on to go on tour with the band they are both trying to sign. At some points, they work against each other but more often than not, they are kind of helping each other out. Everyone in the band and all the people around them can see their attraction to each other, yet both are totally oblivious to it. After a huge misunderstanding, Kevan and Mason

Kevan and Mason are total opposites who fit well together. There is definitely chemistry between them and they absolutely have some sexy times together. However, they also have a ton of obstacles to overcome. I enjoyed the alpha male in Mason and the sassiness of Kevan.

This book was a good, quick read. However, I just didn’t feel the story. The beginning of the book was a little too slow for me and I really didn’t get the part of the assistant and the role she played until the very end.

All in all, it was an ok book.

One mistake can change everything…forever Beck Elliot and Tansy Calhoun were inseparable-until Tansy left Misty Bottoms, Georgia, promising to come back after she finished school. Beck stayed behind to save the family business, dreaming of the day when Tansy would return. Instead, his trust and his heart were broken when she inexplicably married another man and bore his child.

Five years later, Tansy comes home, a sadder and wiser woman. Despite his anger, Beck finds it hard to avoid her and her adorable little daughter-especially with all the busybodies of Misty Bottoms going out of their way to throw him and Tansy together, hoping a lingering spark will reignite their enduring flame…

This is the story of Beck Elliot and Tansy Calhoun, two high school sweethearts whom had everything they ever wanted and needed in each other. Until one of them makes the biggest mistake of their life.

Tansy Calhoun went off to college with the promise of coming back to her high school sweetheart, Beck Elliot. Unfortunately, poor choices after the death of her father left her drunk and then pregnant. She married the baby’s father which led to an unfortunate and heartbreaking marriage.

Tansy is a beautiful lady, both inside and out. She is a remarkable mother who does everything to provide the best for her daughter, Gracie, including moving back to her hometown. Tansy came home almost penniless to try to provide her daughter with the kind of love she had growing up. However, moving back home and trying to move on with life means running into Beck on an almost daily basis.

Beck Elliot is a good, caring and loving man, who had his heart shattered by the love of his life. More than five years have passed since Tansy broke Beck’s heart and he is still so very angry with her. He doesn’t understand what Tansy was thinking when she got pregnant and married without even a word to him. Beck thinks Tansy is back to rub it all her money and that precious child he thought one day would be his in his face. What he doesn’t know is that Tansy is just trying to make a life for her daughter and make peace with Beck.

This was a cute story on how Beck and Tansy have to learn to come to terms with their past and move on with their lives, with or without each other. This book really is about forgiveness, learning to appreciate life and making sacrifices for the ones you love. And when the entire town is behind trying to get you and your ex-boyfriend back together, something is bound to happen. This was a cute and quick read. I have not read any of the other books in the series but will add it to my TBR.

Falling in love is easy.

Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.

The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.

Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.

Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.

When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin’s torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.

Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it’s their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

Elin Whitt is nowhere close to where she thought she’d be in life. Married to her high school sweetheart, Ty, life was supposed to be full of happiness, promises, babies and love. Adversities are supposed to make you stronger, not tear you apart. Unfortunately, when things get tough for Elin and Ty, he does the last thing on earth Elin expected….he leaves. Elin is left to pick up the pieces of her broken marriage by herself.

Ty Whitt loves Elin with all his being and has since he laid eyes on her in high school. After a serious accident, Ty feels himself going into a downward spiral. Not being able to work, not being able to coach his basketball team, the start of an addiction, Ty takes what he feels is the best way out. Ty is a man who loves his wife and wants a family with her and he cannot do that in his current state. So Ty thinks the best way to get his life situated is to leave. Step away, get his life together and come back.

This couple is everything. Elin is so determined to live her life the best she can, even if it means the love of her life is not with her. Ty knows that Elin is his life and does anything and everything to make his mistake right and save his marriage. He begins to show Elin all the reasons they are good together and how their love has not changed and will not die, even with all of the awful things that have happened.

I also thought all of the secondary characters were wonderful. Jiggs, Cord, Lindsay, Dustin and hell, even Pettis had such a role in this story. It was great to see all of the good, the bad and the ugly with everyone in this book. Nothing was held back, everything was given in this book. And just when you think Adriana can’t destroy your soul anymore, she goes above and beyond to top it.

“Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”

Written in the Scars is not just a book, it is the story of life. The story of love, sadness, misunderstanding, every single emotion that you can think of rolled into one AMAZING story. I can honestly say, without a doubt, this is THE story of 2016. You will never, EVER forget this book. I truly believe this is Adriana’s best work to date. After reading this book, I have taken a good look at my life and know what changes I have to make and exactly where I want to go with my relationships. It has inspired me to be a better mother, daughter, sister and most importantly, wife and to look at life like i never have before. Sincerely, no other book has ever made me think about my life like Written in the Scars has. This book will forever be a part of my life.

I highly, highly suggest one-clicking this book on October 20th! Make sure you have the tissues ready for the cry of your life!

I give Written in the Scars by Adriana Locke 5+++ stars!

He was my brother’s best friend and seven years older than me. He was a tatted up bad boy, indulging in one night stands like they were going out of style. So why did I want to tear his clothes off every time we got within five feet of each other? She was only eighteen years old when we met for the first time.

She was a good girl who avoided guys like me, but that didn’t stop me from picturing all the things I wanted to do to her-to do with her. She was too young though, and my best friend’s baby sister. I couldn’t let things go where I wanted. I couldn’t touch her-couldn’t taint her with my darkness. I knew it could never happen. It would never happen…

but it did.

He’s Lucifer in the flesh with those deep brown eyes and dark-as-sin hair. My eyes move down, taking in the close-shaved beard hiding the contours of his

chiseled jawline, before continuing on to his full lips. I carefully study their masculine shape. I can still remember what those lips felt like on mine;
even though I’ve done everything I can to forget. I wish I could erase the memory of how he gripped the back of my hair tight in his fist and tugged me
forward until our lips were just a whisper of a breath apart.

“Is this what you want?” he’d asked. I could feel his warm breath on my mouth before he’d softly brushed his lips against mine. “Do you want to see how
close to the fire you can be without getting burned, little girl?”

I tried to pull away, incensed at being called little girl. I wasn’t a girl. I was a twenty-one- year-old woman; perfectly capable of knowing what I should
and shouldn’t be doing. I knew which heading kissing him fell under – insanity.

He was my brother’s best friend.

He was seven years older than me.

He was a pig when it came to casual sex; indulging in one-night stands like they were going out of style.

That alone should have been enough to repulse me, but for some odd reason, it didn’t. It only made me wonder what kind of things he would do to me. I was
smart enough to recognize that those three things combined were a recipe for disaster. The wreckage left over would be the pieces of my heart, and I
couldn’t put myself out there for him on the off chance that he wouldn’t break me. My heart was damaged enough already.

He’d held my head in place as he’d swooped in, taking my lips in a kiss so hot I felt like I was going to burn up in flames. His tongue had plundered my
mouth, punishing me for pulling away, for trying to resist him. He showed me who was in control with that kiss. He showed me I wouldn’t ever truly get away
from him, and I hated him for that. I hated him for ruining other guys for me; but most of all I hated him for what he’d said when he pulled away from me.

“Stick to kissing those boys at school. Men want a woman in their arms, not a little girl.” He looked at me with such disdain, I wanted the ground to open
up and swallow me whole. I wanted to disappear, go someplace where his painful words couldn’t hurt me anymore. Where my memory could be wiped clean of
Derek Santiago and his handsome face.

That kiss is still the hottest one I’ve ever had to this day, but I still despise him for the cruel words he callously threw at me. Those words tore me
apart and made me second guess myself. It took me a long time to realize what he said wasn’t motivated by me at all. It was the result of him despising

DELVE on Goodreads

*****REVIEW BY LIZ*****

This book was steamy, hot and sexy. I picked it up and could not put it down until I was done. Jacob Chance did an amazing job with his third book, Delve. This is a standalone book and can be read independent of any other book, however, it does feature characters introduced in Quake and Quiver, Kyle and Janny’s story.

Derek Santiago has felt a connection to Kenna McKenzie from the first time he saw her. Instant and unbreakable. But she is forbidden. As his best friend’s baby sister, Kyle, he knew he had to keep his distance. She was too good for him. To keep his distance, he often treats her with indifference and at times, spews cruel words. All as a cover so she never finds out how he really feels.

Kenna McKenzie knows there is no future with Derek Santiago. As much as she is attracted to him, she would never jeopardize his friendship with her brother. But her body betrays her every time he is near. She needs to move on. Period.

The chemistry between Kenna and Derek drips off the pages. It’s undeniable. They try to fight it and stay as far away from each other as much as they can, but often times they end up bickering. How long can the keep this up?

This was a great, quick read. It had a little bit of everything, surprise twists, a little suspense, and hot steamy scenes. And that ending! Cannot wait for Jacob’s next book! I am loving his characters and stories.

I give Delve by Jacob Chance 5 steamy stars!

Here’s what you need to know about me — I’m well-off, well-hung and quick with a joke. Women like a guy who makes them laugh—and I don’t mean at the size of his d*ck. No, they want their funny with a side of huge… not to mention loyal. I’ve got all that plus a big bank account, thanks to my booming construction business. Yup. I know how to use all my tools.

Enter Natalie. Hot, sexy, smart, and my new assistant. Which makes her totally off limits…

Hey, I’m a good guy. Really. I do my best to stay far away from the kind of temptation she brings to work.

Until one night in Vegas…

Yeah, you’ve heard this one before. Bad news on the business front, drowning our sorrows in a few too many Harvey Wallbangers, and then I’m banging her. In my hotel room. In her hotel room. Behind the Titanic slot machine at the Flamingo (don’t ask). And before I can make her say “Oh God right there YES!” one more time, we’re both saying yes—the big yes—at a roadside chapel in front of a guy in press-on sideburns and a shiny gold leisure suit.

But it turns out what happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas. And now, my dick doesn’t stay in my pants when she’s around. I try to resist. Honest. But the more we try to keep our hands to ourselves, the more we end up naked again, and the more time I want to spend with her fully clothed, too.

The question now is…do I take this woman to be my ex-wife?

By now, I’m pretty sure the entire universe knows my love for Lauren Blakely and her books. Well Hung is one of those books where they characters are…dare I say it…swoon worthy. Wyatt Hammer, another Lauren Blakely book boyfriend to love!!

Wyatt Hammer. Now you know that name just begs to be one of a sexy, hot and fun carpenter. Wyatt instantly captured my heart as an all-out nice guy from the very start. And with Natalie as his assistant, his business is soaring to new heights. However, a possibly account in Las Vegas brings them both to the city. When in Vegas, right?!?! Work hard, play harder and boy, do they play. Over and over, in so many places you never even considered….I don’t even need to tell you about a Lauren Blakely sex scene (wink, wink).

Natalie is the backbone to the company. She is the assistant who keeps everything in running smoothly and Wyatt’s customers absolutely adore her, as does Wyatt. Natalie is trying her best to keep away from the man that she just can’t have as Wyatt is trying desperately to keep his hands of her. When works calls in Vegas, they both fight their feelings until work is no longer work and alcohol runs rampant. Even after all their shenanigans, Natalie is bound and determined to keep the promise she made to Wyatt, even when he has no recollection of it.

This was a very sexy, quick read about two people trying to continue to work together after a crazy night in Vegas brings to light their feelings for each other along with an quickie trip to the alter. I highly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it. I laughed. I smiled. I cried. I want to visit Las Vegas. I definitely want to ride a roller coaster (and I hate heights)! Most importantly, I think I’m going to get my husband a tool belt for Christmas 

I give Well Hung by Lauren Blakely 5 stars!

Ever since she was a little girl, thirty-year-old Rose dreamed of the day Harley would carry her across the threshold on their honeymoon. So what if this isn’t her actual wedding day, and that she’s only here because Harley was left at the altar just a few hours earlier?

Trading San Francisco for paradise and swapping her bridesmaid’s bouquet for a Blue Hawaii, Rose hopes she can finally escape the friend zone.

Once upon a time they had been more than friends, but life got in the way. She’s spent every day since wishing Harley would get a clue.

She’s always been his best friend.

He’s always been hers.

She’s in love with him.

He’s … not in love with her.

He’s … marrying someone else.

He’s … hiding something.

He’s … well—it’s complicated

This book. The feels. Harley and Rose was my first book by Carmen Jenner, so I had no expectations going in. None. I loved the blurb and thought it sounded good. Once I finished the book, I sat there emotionally spent. I felt every word in this book. And loved it. Even as my heart lay shattered.

Rose has always loved Harley. In her heart, he has always been hers. They were meant to be together, but somehow they went down different paths. When she thought she had lost him forever, she somehow finally gets the opportunity to try and get out of the friend zone. Or so she thought.

I loved Rose from the start. She thought she had lost Harley, but never lost herself. She was spirited, funny and likeable. At times I felt my heart breaking for her and at others I wanted her to just move on. She deserved to be happy. But to her, happiness was Harley.

What can I say about Harley? One minute I was loving him and the next I wanted to strangle him. He could be very harsh in his dealings with Rose and it broke my heart. But every once in a while, we would see a different side. It gave me hope.

While reading, we get flashbacks to their past and it gives us so much insight to their story and history. Carmen Jenner very beautifully told this story with a balance between then and now. It helped us understand what led to where they were now. And it also makes you fall in love with these two. Root for them and hope that in the end, they will find their way.

And then everything is shattered. The big twist/reveal at the end explained so much, but also left us gutted. You need to read this book and experience it for yourself. It is really hard to say anything else without giving away important details. Just know this is a very emotional read that will stay with you for a long time. It has angst, love, humor, and heartbreak. It will keep you captivated until the very end.

Harley & Rose by Carmen Jenner was a 5-star emotional read for me.

I’m naturally gifted on the field and between the sheets. With flashy cars and enough media attention to put the Royal Family to shame, I’m the definition of Most Eligible Bachelor.

I’ve never met a man who doesn’t want to be me or a woman who doesn’t want to tame me. Until I meet Camila.

From the moment I lay eyes on her, I know I have to have her.

She wants to keep me at arm’s length.
I want her naked in my bed.

She thinks our worlds are too different.
All I want her to think about is screaming my name.

She says I’m bad news.

I have three weeks to prove her wrong.

I love sports romances. I mean what is not to love, right? Hot, sexy, and athletic men who are alpha in every way. So, again, what is not to love? In The Player, Claire Contreras gives us one hot, sexy alpha man in Warren Silva.

Originally from New York, Warren is now living out his dream by playing in Europe. He is currently the hottest commodity in the world of soccer. Men want to be him and woman just want him. And though he is at the top of his game, there is so much more to him. He is also a smart man who invests in his future. A bit cocky, he comes by it naturally with all the success he has found.

Camilla Avilla is a strong, stubborn and determined woman, who can at times be on the shy side. That is, until someone messes with those she cares about. When she first meets Warren she finds him very attractive, but has no idea who he is. But she also knows they are complete opposites in every way. For this reason, she keeps her distance. Even when he brings out the charm that has woman falling to their knees.

Back home to take care of some business needs, Warren meets Camilla and is instantly drawn to her There is just something about her. Though the chemistry between these two was instant and hot, they come from entirely different worlds. Camilla is not used to men like Warren and his intent pursuit on winning her over. What could he see in her? Warren on the other hand had never met a woman like Camilla. She is not drawn to the player or his money. No, what draws her in is the man, in spite of who he is

Though Warren is used to women being readily available to him, for the first time he finds himself working hard to win over woman. But there is something about her that pushes him to pursue her. She is so unlike any other woman and that intrigues him.

Just when you think everything may just fall into place for these two, secrets are revealed that may be too much to overcome. Can they find a way to be together? Is love enough when so much stands in the way? It is definitely worth reading The Player to find out. You will love Warren and Camilla and will find yourself cheering them on. Title: Coming Full Circle

Series: Pembrooke Series (Book 2)

Author: Jessica Prince

Genre: Contemporary Romance

She knew what it was like to feel unwanted.

At an early age Eliza Anderson learned a very hard lesson. Sometimes the people who are supposed to love you the most are the ones that cause you the most pain. She learned to guard herself, hesitating to let anyone close for fear of feeling that rejection all over again. Then Ethan came into her life, and what had started as a simple childhood crush morphed into a friendship she eventually came to cherish above all else. He was her safe place. Her rock. A shoulder she could lean on. Until he ripped it all away.

He knew what it was like to feel like an outsider.

Ethan Prewitt grew up learning that you couldn’t always trust the people you loved the most to be there. That sense of security he craved had always alluded him, leaving him to feel like an interloper in his own home. He dreamed of escaping the small town of Pembrooke and building a life where he didn’t have to depend on anyone but himself. What he never expected was for his friendship with Eliza to grow into something that meant everything to him.

Mistakes were made. Hearts were broken. But now Ethan’s home and he’s determined to make it right. It was time for their relationship to come full circle.

Because what they had was once in a lifetime.

*****REVIEW BY LIZ*****

I have read a few books by this author and have truly enjoyed them. All of them from a different series of hers I am enjoying. Coming Full Circle by Jessica Prince was the first book I read outside this series and wow. Just wow. It shows her diversity as a writer.

Coming Full Circle is a story about second chances. Trust lost is not easily found again. Especially when one left intentionally. It is full angst, but also about forgiveness, love and moving on.

As children, Eliza and Ethan were close. They trusted in each other and were there for each other. Always. But as they grow older, things begin to change. Feelings begin to emerge. But at the same time, Ethan wants to build his own life. So when an opportunity comes his way, he takes it and walks away. In the process hurting Eliza very deeply.

Six years later he is back. And Eliza is protecting her heart. Hurts run deep. Ethan knew he made a mistake walking away, but how to win her heart back?

I loved seeing Eliza as an independent, strong woman that moved on with her life. Did Ethan hurt her, yes, he did. Did she lay down and give up because of it? No, she moved forward. But now that he is back, can she keep her heart safe?

This was definitely not insta-love or a quick reunion. This was a story of two people realizing mistakes were made, feelings were hurt, but of second chances as well.

I do want to note that though this is book two in a spin-off series, I did not feel lost once. The author does a great job giving us the background we need to read this story.

I really enjoyed this book. It was at times heartbreaking and at others heartwarming. It made me feel every word. And really, what more can you ask from any story?

I give Coming Full Circle by Jessica Prince 4-stars!

“If you’re done with your meal, please feel free to pay your tab, tip the waitress, and leave.” Her tone might have sounded polite, but the way she said it meant it wasn’t so much a suggestion as a demand.

“Shit, Eliza. I’m sorry,” I breathed, running a hand through my hair.

“You know, you’ve been saying that a lot lately.”

“Because I mean it!” I bit back.

“Then stop saying it and start showing it, Ethan. What have you actually done to prove to me or anybody in this town that you’re sorry for being a shitty friend or a shitty brother for the past six years?”

Jesus Christ, she hadn’t been kidding when she said she’d changed. The Eliza I knew was always headstrong, but she’d never been one to make a scene or give someone a verbal ass kicking, even when they deserved it. Clearly, with age came a sharp tongue where Eliza Anderson was concerned. And fuck if it wasn’t sexy as hell to see her reacting with so much passion.

Before I had a chance to apologize again, or maybe do something stupid like tell her just how gorgeous I found her in that very moment another presence interrupted our standoff. And, unlike Quinn’s appearance, that particular blast from the past was unwanted, and very unwelcomed.

“Hi, Ethan. I thought that was you.”

Even if the feminine voice wasn’t familiar to me — in that nails-on-a-chalkboard kind of way — the way Eliza’s entire body went rigid and her face blanked would have told me exactly who was standing behind her.

I knew good and well that Eliza couldn’t stand my on-again-off-again ex-girlfriend Shannon, and she had every right. I’d started dating her my freshman year of high school. She was a year ahead of me in school, sixteen years old, and more than willing to put out with one of the guys from the varsity football team. And seeing as I was a dumbass kid who was only thinking with his dick, I thought she’d walked on water, and throughout the next four years, we broke up and got back together more times than I could count on either hand. She cheated, had a nasty jealous streak, was a spoiled, entitled little brat, and my sister never liked her. Those red flags should have been enough for me to realize that not only wasn’t she a good girlfriend, but she pretty much sucked as a human being all together.

Over the years, one of Shannon’s hot buttons was my relationship with Eliza. Because she didn’t understand what our friendship was like back then, and she felt that she was the only person without a dick I should have been allowed to talk to, she took a distinct dislike to Eliza. And let it show.

She treated Eliza like shit whenever she thought I wouldn’t find out about it, bullying her and being as cruel and nasty as a bitch like her could possibly be, thinking her pussy was enough to keep me on a leash while she secretly treated my best friend like shit. We fought about it constantly, because if I wasn’t there to see it myself, someone else always managed to tell me what evil Shannon was up to when I wasn’t around. Because Eliza was so young and quiet, she most certainly wouldn’t have told me herself.

It wasn’t until I pulled my head out of my ass and finally noticed just how closed off Eliza became whenever Shannon was around that I finally pulled the cord, ending things for good.

But Shannon, being the worst kind of bitch, didn’t use our breakup as a reason to stop her torment of Eliza. She’d never been one to apply herself to much of anything, so while I was in college, she was still in Pembrooke, trying to hold on to her old glory days from high school. I could remember multiple occasions where I’d have to drive my ass all the way from Laramie just so I could hold Eliza while she cried after Shannon had done something particularly mean. I hated not being in the same town to stop my jealous ex, but Eliza swore up and down she didn’t need my protection.

That didn’t stop me from hauling my ass over to Shannon’s house on multiple occasions and ripping the woman a new asshole. Unfortunately it never helped.

Suddenly discovering that venomous woman was still living in the same town as my sweet, mild-mannered (or at least she used to be) best friend made every muscle in my body lock, ready to battle.

“Shannon,” I spoke through clenched teeth, refusing to take my eyes off Eliza as the other woman bumped against her shoulder in an effort to get closer to me.

“I heard you were back,” she said in a low voice that I was sure men who didn’t realize what a blood-sucking shrew she was would find seductive. I wasn’t one of them. Reaching across the table, she ran a painted nail along the back of my hands as she continued with that ridiculous fucking voice. “It’s been a long time. I was hoping we could catch up.”

“Hasn’t been long enough, and as far as I’m concerned there’s nothing to catch up on. I’m just here, catching up with an old friend and trying to enjoy my meal. So…” Anyone else would have taken the hint and taken off before they did something to embarrass themselves. But not her. Because heartless skanks had no shame.

“Well I’ll join you,” she said cheerfully, shoving Eliza out of the way in order to claim the bench across from me.

My mouth opened to object, but my girl got there first, shocking the hell out of me while filling my chest with pride all at the same time. “Sorry, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” she said in a syrupy sweet voice.

Shannon looked at her with a hateful glare. “What? Why?”

“There’s a sign clearly posted outside that states ‘no shoes, no shirt, no service’ and seeing as half your shirt looks like it was ripped off by a mountain lion or something before you walked in here, your clothing choices aren’t meeting the standards of this particular establishment.” And just to add insult to injury, she added, sweetly, “Maybe try the Denny’s on the other side of town? I just hope their no dogs allowed policy won’t count for you.”

“Who the hell do you think you are, you stupid, frumpy bitch?!” Shannon started to stand, but I shot from my seat and stood in front of Eliza faster. After that display I had no doubt she could do more than just hold her own, but she’d said her piece. If Shannon was stupid enough not to get that she wasn’t wanted, I was going to clear things up. There was no reason for Eliza to be forced to engage any further than she already had.

“No one invited you to sit here,” I told her, the tone of my voice causing her eyes to grow wide.

“But… Ethan—”

I cut her off, not feeling bad in the slightest. “I didn’t ask you to join me for lunch, and I sure as fuck don’t want you sitting across from me while I’m trying to keep my food down. So since Eliza doesn’t want you here, and I sure as shit don’t want you here, there’s no reason for you to stay.”

“Babe, just let me—”

“We have nothing to catch up on seeing as the last words I ever spoke to you were that if I ever found out you so much as looked at Eliza wrong, I’d make your life miserable. You clearly didn’t listen, so it looks like I’ll have to make good on my promise.”

I could hear the muffled voices and movement from the people straining to hear, but other than Shannon’s spiteful words, they hadn’t been able to hear the full exchange, which did nothing but make her look like an even bigger fool since most of the town had always thought Eliza to be the sweetest.

“You’re still standing here,” a sarcastic voice spoke up from behind me. I barely suppressed an eye roll when I turned to look over my shoulder to give Eliza a really? Could you not right now look.

She shrugged, but had the grace to look properly scolded.

It was the pure hate in Shannon’s voice that forced my head to turn back around as she spoke, “You always chose her over me.” She spit as her eyes shot fire in my direction. “That twisted, weird little relationship you guys had back them was creepy and it’s still fucking creepy today.”

I shrugged. “Rather be in a relationship only you would consider creepy than stuck with a heartless bitch like you.”

She moved to slap me, a motion I would have had no problem blocking had a particular little ball of fire not jumped in front of me and grabbed Shannon’s wrist before I could. “You slap him and, so help me God, I’ll rip your hair out at the roots. Now get the hell out of my building before I have someone call the cops and escort your ass out.”

We both watched in silence as a red-faced, clearly embarrassed Shannon spun on her hooker heels and stomped out of the café.

“Well…” I breathed, gaining Eliza’s attention. “That was fun.”

She rolled her eyes and shook her head as she turned and headed back for the kitchen, but not before I saw the corners of her mouth twitching with a suppressed smile.

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Paxton Vance isn’t as cryptic as he thinks. That broody nature and tough-guy exterior aren’t fooling me one bit.

I know everything about him. I listen in on his most personal phone calls. I read his mail before he does. I even know what his mother got him for Christmas last year.

You’re the man of my dreams, Paxton Vance. You just don’t know it yet.

But don’t worry, I’ll remind you. I’m here to give you everything you need, before you know you need it.

So don’t get defensive because I take a challenge seriously. You have to open up to someone, and that someone is me.

Besides, you can’t stay Mr. Mysterious forever. Why play the game if you never want to win?

I believe I say this for every J.A. Huss book I read but it is no less true every time. Her mind is an amazing thing! She always surprises us with so many unexpected twists and turns and Mr. Mysterious does not disappoint.

Paxton Vance is Mr. Mysterious, of the infamous Mr. Brown’s, who ten years ago were accused of rape, until the accuser died. He walked away after the accusations and built his life in his own way. Answering to no one but himself. Mysterious, broody and a loner by nature, he never lets anyone in. Until the day she blew into his life and turned it all upside down!

Cindy wanted Paxton Vance for years. Was determined to win him over and show him they were meant to be, damn the consequences. Or so she thought. Secrets have a way of coming out when you least expect it. Can she be what he wants and needs? Or are the secrets and lies too much to ignore?

Who would expect that one of the Mrs. is none other than Baby Shrike? Totally unexpected but she is everything you would expect from a Shrike. She is one of my all-time favorite heroines. She is tough, independent, strong and goes after what she wants with no regrets. And she has wanted Mr. Mysterious since her teens.

Paxton on the other hand keeps everyone at a distance. He does not want or need anyone getting too close to him to hurt him. Never again. However, one day Cinderella, Cindy, blows into his life and she may just be what he has always needed. Unlike any other woman he has ever known, she shows him how life could be if he just opens his heart to her.

Mr. Mysterious really surprised me. He has been depicted as this standoffish character without a care for anyone but himself. And though that may be who he wants to portray, he is so much more. It was nice to get to really know him and see a different side of him.

But is it too dangerous to get involve with her now? Is there really any choice? What will happen when secrets begin to unravel?

We are given more clues to what happened and what is happening, but really, there are as many, if not more, questions about what happened and is happening to all the Misters. Why now?

I love how the overall story is coming together. Even with all the questions still unanswered, we learn enough to want to know more and how it will end! This is book four in the series, but book 1 through 4 can each be read as standalones and in any order. Book five, Mr. Match, is the final book and should be read last. I, for one, cannot wait to see the epic ending J.A. Huss has for us. A must read series!

I give Mr. Mysterious by J.A. Huss 5-stars!

**Review From Liz**

Love A Boss picked up right where Like A Boss left off. With our hearts broken and our minds thrown for a loop. Penny is engaged to Dex and Theo is heartbroken. The tables have turned and now Penny is the boss.

The humor and banter between Theo and Penny provided a tug and pull that kept us wanting more. So much was against them now, are the odds just too high for them?

In book 2, we get to see a different side of Theo. We get to see his vulnerability. He is still the strong, alpha, with a bit of nerd, man we met and loved in the first book, but now we see him hurting. Devastated by the turn of events, Theo does everything he can to avoid Penny, but he cannot put his feelings aside. Was this all a game to her?

Penny is devastated. Her life took a very unexpected turn and she has no idea how to get out of it. With nowhere else to turn, she moves forward as best she can, but without Theo at her side. Hurting and lost, she feels so alone. Has she lost Theo forever? Could he ever forgive her for the ultimate betrayal?

Little does Theo know, but Penny was fighting for them in the only way she could. However, Theo felt like he was not worth it and was thrown aside by Penny. Can they figure out who is against them and how to survive all the obstacles in time?

Though this is a romantic comedy, the chemistry and sex scenes were off the charts. Hot, intense and so very sexy and steamy. I loved reading every second of it. The balance between the two, romance and humor, added so much to the story.

Similar to book 1, this was a great, quick read with so much passion and feeling. Logan Chance gave us a romantic comedy with so many emotions, we had no choice but to root for these characters. Again I am so very excited to read more from Logan Chance.

Love A Boss by Logan Chance was a 4-star read for me!

About The Author:

Logan Chance enjoys the simple things in life. Star Wars, music, and pretty girls. Always in trouble at school, he was made to copy the dictionary while the others played. This began his word fascination. With a love of words he then realized he loved stringing those same words together to create stories to inspire all. From Boston, and relocated to Florida, he lives out his days writing, reading, and avoiding the beach. Not afraid to tell it how it is, Logan is definitely a man of his own.

She wanted to start again. To be someone—anyone—different . . . Freedom. When Carleigh Stanger thought of college, that was the word that came to mind. Freedom from her unhappy home life. Freedom from high school mistakes. Freedom from the memory of that terrible morning. Only instead of bringing a sweet escape, Carleigh’s first campus party traps her in the scornful gaze of the last person she wants to see, Tucker Green. It wasn’t long ago that being close to Carleigh was everything Tucker wanted. But that was before he realized she was just another scheming girl who’d do whatever it took to get her way. Even lie to the guy she claimed to love. Unfortunately, while Tucker’s brain remembers the pain Carleigh caused, his body only remembers the pleasure . . .

This was my first book by Danielle Pearl and what an impression it made on me. Full disclosure, I love angst filled books. They break me every time, but I can’t help myself loving them. And this book ripped me to pieces. The heartache was intense. INTENSE!

In Ruins takes place in the present, but we are provided flashbacks to the past to understand what happened between Tucker and Carleigh, Carl, to get them to where they are now. And that journey will tear you apart.

Tucker and Carleigh were friends for years and high school sweethearts, however, when we meet them, they are both freshman at the same college and no longer together. We quickly learn something bad happened between them and they are now determined to avoid each other. But when you in are in the same college and have some of the same friends, how do you avoid each other?

Carleigh loves Tuckers. Loves Tucker more than she can bear at times. She feels the break up was her fault and vows to start over and let her heart heal. But at every turn she finds herself face-to-face with Tucker. And this Tucker is at best cruel and at worst, a total stranger. As she maneuvers through college life, she finds her heart wants only one person, the one person who hates her above all.

Tucker Green loves Carleigh and though he knows they are young, she was his future. He knew it in his heart. Until secrets are revealed and his world is turned upside down. Carleigh is not the girl he fell in love with or so he believes. How can he ever trust her again, much less love her? But the harder he tries to rip her out of his heart, the deeper her hold is.

As we see Tucker and Carleigh attempting to exist as strangers on the same campus, it is slowly revealed what happened between them. We learn how they became lovers and fell in love. We see a sweet and loving side of Tucker and how much Tucker means to Carleigh. And then we learn the secret that tore them apart. And we break. How can they ever even be friends?

We see two sides of each character. The before and the after. The after gives us a shattered and destroyed Carleigh and an angry and bitter Tucker. At times Tucker is so cruel, we see Carleigh slashed to pieces. Though we can see both sides, Carleigh takes what Tucker throws at her because she loves him and believes he is right. I both loved and hated Tucker at times.

I loved the tug and pull of this story and the angst. The angst was off the charts. I was destroyed for 95% of this book. The twist at the end I did not see coming and changed the story a bit for me, but not enough to not like it. Overall a great angst-filled read and will definitely check out other books by this author.

I give In Ruins by Danielle Pearl 4.5 stars!

I linger half in a dream, wondering why I feel as if I’m waking up inside my past. My fingers automatically reach to the base of my throat for the white gold crown charm Tucker gave me before graduation last year, a reminder that I would always be his princess. But always didn’t last, and my fingers come up empty as I recall tearing off the necklace and stuffing it unceremoniously into my bathroom drawer minutes after he broke my heart.

The subtle scent of fresh spring soap, aftershave, and the faint musk of last night’s sweat ambushes my senses. My eyes flutter open to find dawn breaking in through the window shades. It’s still early enough that I doubt anyone else will be awake for a while, but I know that whether it’s minutes or an hour, once Tucker’s eyes open, it won’t be long before I’m asked to leave.

It takes no more than another second or two to register the pattern of his breathing, too lively to indicate sleep, and I stiffen above him. I swallow anxiously and reluctantly look up.

He’s watching me, gaze impassive, but his arms don’t move. His fingertips dance, feather-light along the small of my back, and I wonder if it’s what woke me. I clear my throat, though I have no idea what to say in this moment. But Tucker speaks first.

“This can’t happen again. You know that, right?”

I nod. Because I do know. We’ll never be friends if we blur the lines with this. Not just the sex. Not even mostly the sex. But this. This intimacy. This is what could break us. Break me.

In an instant, the haze of last night’s lust begins to lift, and anxiety settles in its place. Because I doubt I could survive his breaking my heart a second time, and that’s precisely what I’m setting myself up for. I’ve laid my own trap, and I need to free myself before it’s too late.

“We shouldn’t be laying in bed like this,” I tell him.

His smile is wistful. “I know.”

But he makes no move to disentangle himself from me. Instead, he does the opposite, his hand leisurely roving up the avenue of my spine, as if it’s going for a Sunday drive.

I shrug it from my body and sit up, startling him. “Stop doing that,” I snap.

“Touching you?” His brow furrows.

“No! Yes. Touching me, and agreeing with me but continuing this… this affection anyway.”

“Sorry,” he murmurs half-heartedly.

“No you’re not.”

He frowns as I yank the sheet out from under the bedspread and drape it around myself.

“Maybe it was wrong of me,” I admit. “Coming here last night. Maybe I was stupid to believe we could just hook up and walk away. Or that I could. But Tucker, if you wanted to fuck me, then why couldn’t you just fuck me?” My words drown in regret. “You can’t say these things—about my eyes, how you think about me… You can’t stare at me the way you do, or call me Princess. It isn’t fair.”

“No, Tuck. You know how I feel about you. And you said it yourself. When you love someone more than your own life, you don’t let them go for anything.” I stare at him meaningfully. “Anything.”

Tucker shakes his head, eyes lined with exasperation. “Carl, I tried to talk to you about that last night—”

“No, Tuck. I get it now,” I assure him. “And maybe I always should have known. But you must have, right? Or at least you do now.”

“Know what?” His brow furrows deeply, vaguely bewildered.

I glare at him, trying to determine if he’s undermining my intelligence or if I’m somehow not making sense. But I know him better than that, and as easy it would be to vilify him right now, I can’t lie to myself. “Maybe you really did believe it at the time,” I admit. “That you loved me back.”

“Or maybe you really did love me. Just not enough, you know?” I don’t bother fighting the tears. He’s seen them plenty of times now anyway, and if there’s ever been a time to let them flow, it’s now.

And Tuck stops his attempts to explain. He blinks at me, stunned silent, and I suspect he’s finally grasping the weight of his own words. And I realize that even though he’s the one who said them, it’s only now that he’s really understanding their implications. The truth is obvious and cruel, and with it I can stop wondering. I can stop analyzing his words and guessing at their meaning. Because now I know.

Eventually Tucker sighs, raking his fingers through his hair as he searches for words to placate me. But I don’t want his guilt, and I definitely don’t want his pity.

I avert my gaze and it lands on his overnight bag, three feet to my right. I force in a deep breath and shove my hand inside it, pulling out the first piece of clothing I can grab, grateful to discover it’s a t-shirt—fitted for him, but oversized for me. I hastily slip it on.

I look back at him, feeling utterly defeated. “You let me go.”

We both know now what that says about his love, but this isn’t about blame—this is about acceptance. It’s about moving forward. “So let me go,” I beg him, and then hurry out the door.

Torn by tragedy. Reunited by love. Two years ago, I lost my husband and my brother to the same tragedy. To this day, I hold only one person responsible—Aiden Rogers, the beautiful boy I’ve known forever, the misfit I’ve both loved and hated, the one who always got to me. As far as I’m concerned, he’s the only one to blame. Now he wants to be part of my life again—when I can finally see a future for my son and myself. I’ve found the perfect man in David, someone I can start over with, a man who will be the perfect father figure for Trevor. I have a plan. At last, I see the light, and I know I can make this work. I will not let Aiden Rogers drag me back into the darkness.

Author’s note: contains sexual scenes and some coarse language. This is the first book of the Riverstone Estate Series and can be enjoyed as a standalone read.

*** The Riverstone Estate Series: A beautiful estate. Three unforgettable love stories. Following the sudden passing of their father, Amber, Ruby, and Flynn Riverstone inherit the family estate and find themselves facing new challenges, growing closer, and discovering love along the way.

This book had so many feels. My heart broke over and over again. Roya Carmen knows all about feels and angst in her novels!

Loving Amber is a second chance at love story with a twist of the forbidden. Two years ago Amber lost her brother and her husband in a terrible accident. For those two years she blamed Aiden Rogers, because somebody had to be held accountable, right?

Torn by the tragedy in her life and her son, Trevor, to think about, Amber set herself on a certain path she felt certain was the right one. She needed safety, stability and direction in her life. She was scared to feel. To love. To lose so much again. In that fear, she shut everyone out and barely lived. And now part of her past was busting down her well-guarded walls without her permission.

Aiden Rogers had loved one woman all his life. The one woman he could never have or be good enough for. So he moved on as best he could. Thinking he finally had his future laid out for him, one tragedy tears his world and that of the woman he loves upside down. She blames him. He blames himself. Not the same man he once was, he is hurting and broken.

Then one day their worlds collide again. Even as he begins to see he can be just what Amber and Trevor may need for their future, all she sees are his mistakes and who he once was. Struggling to show her all that he can now be, she keeps pushing him away and hurting him over and over again. How much can one man take?

Amber was very frustrating. She would not admit her feelings or attraction and struggled with what she really wanted versus what she thought she should have and provide for her son. I know many will not like her, but this woman has lost so much and was just so afraid to move forward and follow her heart. Could she stand to lose so much again? She was terrified and in turn, held so much in. Even as she finally wanted to move forward.

Aiden. What can I say about him? My heart broke over and over again for him. At times Amber was downright cruel to him. He loved her so much, he did not know how to walk away, but also, had no idea how to show her all they could be. He was at times so sweet and caring. He understood where she was coming from, even as it cut him to pieces. Even when he reached his limit, he would be there for her over and over.

The angst level in this one was very high and lasted through most of the book. It’s will hurt your heart. But the story is so well written, even as you want to murder Amber, you see and understand where she is coming from. You just have to know how it will all end. There are a few moments that will take you by surprise, but flow well and again, you will not want to put this down.

Overall a great second chance at love story, with angst and a bit of the forbidden we know Roya does so well! Looking forward to the next book.

Loving Amber by Roya Carmen was a 4-star angst filled read for me!
